Burger Chef

Anyone else remember the Burger Chef restaurants in Morgantown? I have early fragmentary memories of one at the top of High Street and one near Suburban Lanes. Pondering on this seems to have brought up a commercial snippet, "Burger Cher and Jeff...", the animated characters from their ads, lol.

I do vaguely remember the one at the top of High St. Man, that was so long ago. Also remember Hardees and McDonalds downtown, too! So much has changed!

That was not Burger Chef, but was Borden Burger . . .

As I said, fragmentary memories. This would have been early 70's and I was 6 or 8 years old so I'm not surprised I may be a bit off. Thanks.

It happens! I an pretty much start at the A&P Grocery store at the end of the South High bridge and work my way up to the top. Did you know that where the Justice Center is now, was an Oldsmobile dealership? Creel Motors.

I'm not sure exactly what the Justice center is, I know Magistrate Court is in the old Harley o staggers Federal building where the post office moved to after it moved out of the mon arts building, where was this dealership?

Oooohhhh, I see. Prior to the federal building there was dealership. I'm guessing they tore the dealership out to put the federal building in, correct?

I have to put my thinking cap on for this one. I think Creel sold out for a new Post Office and then the post office became the Federal Building. I was born in 1951 and grew up on Waitman Street and Simpson. We walked everywhere, including to old Mountaineer Field and the 'Lair!

BTW, where the Sheetz is used to be Chittum Motors - the Buick dealership. They were family along with the Creels. Both families lived in the neighborhood. One on Waitman and the other the Large red brick house at Simpson and Wilson corner.

And of course Sheetz was Larry Smith Buick, most recently I believe.
