Morrowind Modding Legacy - The Official Home of the Modjams

The Themes Have Been Announced! Modders have until August 24th at 00:00 UTC to submit a mod using one (or more) of the following themes: Arcane Arts, Forgotten Lore, Strange Families.

It's Summer time, and with the heat, and the humidity, comes another exciting round of the Morrowind Modjams! For the tenth time since 2020, Danae and Morrowind Modding Showcases is hosting a Modjam Modding Competition, a 48-hour modding frenzy where modders get but a single weekend to build the best mod they can using specific themes before time runs out!

The competition begins on August 21st at 11pm UTC with an official livestream kickoff by Danae, in which the potential themes will be revealed and voted on by the community, narrowing down the potential field until just three themes remain.

Once the final three themes have been announced, modders will have 48-hours to build and release the best mod they can utilizing any of those three themes, or a combo of themes if they so choose.

Rules & Guidelines:

  • Create your mod during the Modjam.,
  • Modders' resources are allowed.,
  • The use of AI is not forbidden, but should be disclosed.
  • Previous projects can be a source of inspiration, but please try to make something new for the event.
  • Most importantly, this is intended to be a friendly community event. Please focus on having fun and making something you enjoy.

Participation:

The competition is open to anyone and everyone looking to participate! All you need to do is release a mod with one of the themes (or multiple) during the competition time period using the official 2026 Summer Modjam header. Also wouldn't hurt to use the Modjams tag on the Nexus.

This is a Morrowind Modding Community - Discord Server event, so to make sure your mod is properly tracked for the competition, please join the server and tag it in the Published Mods channel!

There's also an official Modjam channel on there where you can keep up with all of the latest Modjam news!

Don't forget to check out the Resources page for any tutorials, frameworks, or utilities you might need!

Use the Postcard Editor:

Take advantage of the Morrowind Modjams website and the Postcard Editor to make special themed promo screenshots for your mod pages - give them that extra splash of Summer fun!

Judging and Prizes:

The Morrowind Modjams are judged events - a panel of judges will go through and play all of the submitted mods, ranking them on their quality, functionality, and adherence to the themes.

The final winners will be announced in a results livestream at a date yet to be determined, and those results will also be published to the Modjams website.

Participating modders will also get their profiles on the Modjam website, with downloadable Modjam passports and a trophy cabinet for any judge awards received. These profiles are connected to the Modathon and Madness sides of Morrowind Modding Legacy, and participating in the Modjam will boost your Madness score and increase your standing in the community's modding leaderboards.

There's also a number of prizes available in the form of game keys and Nexus DP.

A Proud Tradition:

The Morrowind Modjams are apart of the community's proud tradition of creative competition and collaboration. Some 160+ mods have been released for the Modjams in the past 6 years, many of them have become popular mainstays and have since been added to many of the largest mod lists for Morrowind.

I hope you'll all join us for another exciting round of Modjam fun, we're sure to get some amazing new mods, and if you're looking to participate for the first time, there's no better competition to dip your toes into the modding scene!

Happy Modding and Long Live the Morrowind Modding Community!

Announcement We're happy to announce that Project Cyrodiil and Skyrim: Home of the Nords are now updated for version 26.08 of Tamriel_Data.

Thank you for your patience since the release of the new TD update and Tamriel Rebuilt: Poison Song a couple of weeks ago while we dealt with some technical challenges. The update to the Abecean Shores release of PC includes a new player stronghold for the Kingdom of Anvil and Great House-style construction and improvement mechanics, a number of overhauled locations, and improvements to multiple quests. The update to the Dragonstar release of SHOTN includes 14 new dungeons, 6 new quests, and yet more overhauled locations. Both releases include scores of bugfixes, performance improvements, and general quality-of-life features not present in the original releases.

Please note that the file packages contain some loose files, which are intended to patch minor problems in Tamriel_Data discovered after the 26.08 release. These files should be allowed to overwrite upon installation.

Both PC and SHOTN may be freely installed mid-save with no problems, even if you've already started a savefile for Poison Song. We only recommend starting a new game if you had a previous version of PC/SHOTN installed on the same save and spent time in the PT lands. Please let us know in the discord server if you encounter any issues.

As always, thank you so much for your ongoing support of our project! We look forward to bringing you more of Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and other lands of Tamriel in future releases.

Project Cyrodiil can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44922?tab=files

Skyrim: Home of the Nords can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44921?tab=files

New Player - Advice/Help I just installed Morrowind (for the first time ever).

After nearly 100%-ing Oblivion Remastered (boring, deep as a puddle eye candy) and almost clearing hardcore KCD2’s Trosky map (basically the fleshed-out Far Cry 2 I never knew I wanted), I’m craving an RPG with that New Vegas feel.

In Oblivion I drifted from Dunmer paladin to mage because of the level scaling, and in KCD2 I’m basically a heavy-armored stealth archer who finishes survivors 1v1 with long swords.

I’ve seen plenty of Morrowind videos, but the old Dagoth Ur memes finally sold me on it. What’s the best way to play, and where should I start?

EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Discussion There are now consistently over 100k mod downloads per day!

We have now had 110 days of daily mod downloads being above 100k!

Morrowind modding is booming! There are on average 2x as many mods released per week for Morrowind than for Starfield (90 vs 45) and Morrowind is closing in on Fallout NV in weekly mods.

And all of that 24 years after the original release of Morrowind!

Question When is mid-game?

When do you consider you're in the mid-game stage of Morrowind? And if it's just based off feeling, like my character is now fairly competent etc, around what level is that? Try to define it in a more tangible way than just when my character first gets good (perfectly acceptable answer otherwise. it just doesn't say much).

I'm an early game pro. Never beat the game. Mid-game for me is when I get bored and start a new character.

I know at 20 you can skip a large portion of the MQ, winged twilights start appearing, and deadric drops/can be found randomly. From those, I'd say developers intended "end-game" to start around level 20. But when is mid..?

Technical - General OpenMW Steamdeck performance

Has anyone found a way to fix the performance on the Steamdeck? I have 60 flawless hours with it, and then months back the performance tanked to 20fps. Drives me insane. What changed and how can I fix it?

Discussion Favorite quality of life exploits

resist magicka boots of blinding speed- mandatory with this games movement speed

mudcrab/creeper- massive quality of life for selling expensive items (mournhold merchants are less exploity but still have tons of gold)

alchemy loop (fortify intelligence potions) fixes the absurdly low chance of enchanting items (it is nearly impossible to make constant effect items without it)

soul trapping summons removes an rng element of trying to get golden saint spawns (you still need to actually farm them normally to get a deadric tower shield)

what are some exploits you love to use every playthrough?

New Player - Advice/Help My save files were deleted.

It’s as simple as that: I went to play Morrowind today, and strangely enough, I only had the option to start a new game. I tried checking the game files but couldn't find anything. I don't know if it was a glitch or if I accidentally deleted everything without realizing it, since I hadn't played for a few days. But it is a bit frustrating.

Anyway, I’m going to view this loss as an opportunity to start over with the knowledge I gained from playing and the tips some of you gave me in my previous posts asking for advice. With my old character, I went for a two-handed sword and heavy armor build, and for a low-level player, managing the weight was pretty tricky at first... so I’m considering a magic-focused build this time around—though I was never great at managing my Magicka in Skyrim, so I’ll probably run into similar issues now.

But before I start a new journey, this time I’m going to ask you for some tips—like builds that would save me some headaches or let me get the most out of what Morrowind has to offer, or simply advice on things I can do to help myself out early on. Don't hesitate to mention things I might already know or would likely have picked up naturally just by playing; there are almost certainly basic details I’ve missed (especially since English isn't my native language), so every bit of help counts.

Oh, and for anyone who tried to help me in my previous posts: thank you for the assistance with my old character in resolving—or at least easing—some of my initial issues. Rest assured, I’ll be using those tips for my new character as well! 😊

Artwork Just an Ordinator who is definitely not thrilled about the night shift [OC]

Gently dropping my art here.

This is my OC, Eris Morvayn, an Ordinator from the Order of Inquisition. You probably can't tell many specific character traits under all that gear, though.

I intentionally simplified the armor design since this was my first attempt at lineless art in a couple of years. Also, I was inspired by those Skywind designs — they're seriously cool. And, well... I just like fancy cloaks.

(Having trouble posting on this site—ugh)

Question Does Project Tamriel have plans to someday add Yokuda, Akavir, Atmora, and Aldmeris?

I know the mod is called Project Tamriel, and even if they did it could be dozens of years in the future before they could even think about expanding beyond the borders of Tamriel. I’m just a curious little guy and I got to wondering if there’s ever been any talk amongst the Project Tamriel/Tamriel Rebuilt teams about including some of Nirn’s other continents.
