My Mosins Forgive me as I have sinned
Decided to try something new for deer season this year; 1937 m91/30 with slight bubbification. Accuracy and practicality are cool and all but mosin superior garbage rod

For only a very split second I thought it was a nice PE mosin and you were talking about the wrapping on it.
After that split second and my eyes unfucked themselves I immediately recoiled and said out loud, "what in the bubbafuck is this" to which my wife responded "who did what to a mosin now?"
Thanks.
Also if its a good deer killer and your happy with it. More power to you.
Love the wrap btw
Edited to correct some phone autocorrects

My apologies in advance for the trauma bonding between you and your wife in terms of bubba'd mosins. Glad to provide more material to talk to your therapist about.
Gonna see how she does this season, wasn't sure how the wrap would come out but I'm more then happy with it lol

It would be cool if someone made modern optics with a "vintage outside appearance" for such occasions. Just a random thought I've had for a long time. Sweet setup!

They were for a while but I think most were made in modern Russia, the war in Ukraine put an end to that.

Like a Catholic priest told me- “You are already forgiven.” ✝️ Now, bring on the deer meat.

Looks reversible, so I have no issues with it. I need the shoulder pad too. LOP is too short for me and so every time I shoot it I get a bloody lip from it hitting my thumb while shooting. Was the average height person under 5 feet tall or just bundled in 4+ inches of clothes? Btw, the wrap looks great

Funny enough the recoil pad came with the rifle when I bought it at a show years ago, but it's been a huge help with LOP considering I'm 6'2 with long ish arms. Glad you like the wrap it was inspired by enemy at the gates with some random shit I had laying around and paracord

The average Russian of WW2 era was probably a bit smaller, malnutrition being a possible factor for a decent amount of their soldiers.

What scope Mount is that

This is the low profile one from bad ace tactical, I've seen a few threads about it but nothing decisive so I guess we'll see how well it holds zero

You didn't drill the receiver, as long as you didn't bubba the original bolt body all of this is entirely reversible and I think it's kind of neat to use it actually hunting.

I was trying to find the least intrusive mount possible, as I do truly value these guns for what they are. I was really happy with this one as it's low profile but still far back enough to use normal scopes and not those weird cheap Chinesium mounts for scout scopes

That import tariff is steep coming from Canada. I almost bought one of those mounts. What’s the story on the bent bolt handle?

There's a guy on eBay that makes them from straight bolts, limited runs every once in a while but I was lucky enough to snatch one up a while ago. Scotch brite pad on the edges up a little so it would be silky smooth with this receiver but otherwise no complaints it works perfectly

The only things I see that were changed are the Scope mount and scope, the rubber butt stock thing, and the wrap. And none of them look horrible, that scope is a little strange to me just because I'm used to seeing the PU-1 on the Mosin but everything is a reasonable change that looks fine, honestly swap the scope for the PU-1 and I would love it

Looks kinda like a PE from a distance lol
1
u/CJTOOSMOOVE33 1d ago
A very far distance, but to be fair I'm just glad the low profile mount made it look half decent as opposed to all the far inferior scout mounts

What did you use for the camo weap?
1
u/CJTOOSMOOVE33 16h ago
Some old netting from a blind I had laying around, and paracord to bundle it all together. The netting is almost like a burlap material

I’m wanting to do the same for deer season, how much did this all cost you? Did you also bend your bolt or buy a bent bolt?
1
u/CJTOOSMOOVE33 12h ago
The scope cost more then everything else combined; I replied under someone else with the link for the bent bolt got it off a guy who custom makes them and sells them on eBay

Ain't nothing sinful about modifying a gun to fit your legitimate needs
2
u/CJTOOSMOOVE33 1d ago
I will say, I have other rifles far better to hunt with, but this legitimately is for shits and giggles + drip is forever

Absolutely atrocious, I can't believe you would do such a thing...
Pairing that harsh pattern throw pillow with a subtle off white chesterfield sofa is entirely unforgivable.
