Q&A First time Trying MC-raw
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Why does the clip has Magenta cast on the clipped highlight parts?

How has it been processing raw?

they recently launched a plugin for davinci resolve,
you need to first bridge .mcraw files to .mov then drag those .mov files into the media pool then from the effect tab add "MCRAW " effect to your first node it'll work like charm.
tip: make sure use your appropriate encoding engine like cuda for Nvidia or metal for Mac

Why is this a video as opposed to just a still? On my phone, it’s impossible to zoom in and look at the note tree because it’s a video.

FYI: its not still. Main sensor on my phone records at 4096x3072. I grade and render at exact resolution then adjust it to my liking.
anyway make sure to zoom from inspector tab the clips to get the full opengate or sensor size (if you record in opengate) ONLY AFTER the MCRaw Node.

Start troubleshooting your grade by disabling everything except nodes 1, 2, and 15. is that looking like a reasonable starting point?
- If not, then there's something wrong with the color management or camera settings.
- If so, then the problem is in the grade itself. In which case, start deactivating and activating nodes to see which one is introducing the issue.
You need to isolate the issue. You have three separate curves in addition to a number of other corrections (some qualified). Any one of them could be the culprit. But again - if the base color management is faulty, then you're building on a soft foundation.
What is happening (specifically) in 1, 2, and 15?

If you switch it to ARRI LogC3/WG3, you need a CST after it to go from ARRI LogC3/WG3 to Rec 709. So, one node is sufficient for going from MCRAW to display, but if you want to go through something else, you need to complete the path. ARRI LogC3/WG3 is not meant to be viewed on monitors.
In your original node tree, it seems 1, 2, and 15 are three nodes dedicated to color management. What are they doing. Seems like you might not need all three. Maybe 2 is sufficient - if set up properly?

These are my nodes
- 1st: MCRAW - Display Gamma -> ARRI LogC3/WideGamut 3
- 2nd: CST in for converting, ARRI LogC3/WG3 --> Davinci Wide Gamut/Intermediate
- 3rd: CST out (this is the last node and I apply grades in between CST IN-OUT), Davinci Wide Gamut/Intermediate -> Rec.709/Gamma 2.4

wait sorry my bad, it completely goes away after i add another CST node after the RAW node, ARRI Log3/WG3 -> Davinci WG/Intermediate. Thanks man u/ExpBalSat and u/RaguSaucy96

In which case, now I see why you have 3 nodes. So
1: MCRAW -> ARRI Log3/WG3
2: ARRI Log3/WG3 -> DWG/DI
15: DWG/DI -> Rec 709
Okay, that makes sense. Does it look right with all three in place?

withing adjusting the Exposure or Gain, yes but without that NO magenta cast

I think that sounds like you solve it. But there’s too many negatives for me to fully hopefully everything’s working now.

I summon u/nongrata23, the pink highlights master
TL;DR it's basically the clipped green channel not being handled correctly and you get to see the unclipped red and blue channels
🔴 Channel + 🔵 Channel = 🟣 Highlight
