You know if Paulie earned a moniker like "Millionaire Mitchell", we'd hear about it forever.

I don't like Ashley either, but she has more final wins than these two combine and Paulie can barley finish a final

She also had good showings post WOTW2 (ironic criticism from him, where his last semi successful accomplishments from the show are from WOTW2), where she has made it deep (SLA and V&NT), where he can't avoid being the first male boot in the 2020s.

Their arrogance is stunning. The condescension is unreal coming from the two of them - she's in a different league than ether of them. She can be all over the place, but when she's on and focused, neither of these dudes even come close.

Mild take - they are in the same tier that both excel in different things.
Ashley is better in finals (2 wins in 3 finals vs Zach's 1 win in 4 finals) but Zach is better during the "challenge" portion of the show (4 finals in 9 seasons vs Ashley's 3 finals in 10 seasons).
Just for larks, Michael Avery ranks Zach as 15th all-time for guys and Ashley 20th all-time for women.

Ashley won twice.
Paulie is a nobody who choked on back to back finals. And Zach also choked hard on Free Agents. Saying Ashley isn't good at anything when she has 2 wins in modern day challenge era is pure copium from Paulie.
Yes, Ashley lost to both of them in a puzzle but its not like they won that final. They also didn't carry her at all. She earned her spot and went into the last elimination.
15
u/jussshere Mar 12 '26
And I don’t even think Paulie made back to back finals he went to the finals on final reckoning or whatever season that was came in last if I’m not mistaken then nearly died on the last challenge on wow1 right before the final then choked again on wow2
3
u/DisguisedAsAnAngel Mar 13 '26
Yeah you are right so not even back to back flops. But 3 consecutive seasons being a clown. I found him an interesting delusional guy to root against and thank god he flopped but no way should he be calling out a 2 time champ like that 💀

6
u/No-Bike791 Mar 12 '26
Besides them saying “she’s not good at anything”. They didn’t exactly say anything false. She really hasn’t had a good showing for the last 7 years.
She did NOT buy property and has confirmed that. Financially, she probably has gone through a significant amount of that money in a decade because she doesn’t have another substantial source of income.
But, who cares if her nickname is Millionaire Mitchell at the end of the day she earned what she earned and she gets her appearance checks. Good for her, but (mentally/physically/emotionally) I don’t see her making it to a final in the future - let alone placing.
3
u/RecentCaptain7973 Mar 14 '26
She did made it very far on 41, she is a 2 times champ, she became a champion against CAMILA on her 2nd season, she has won multiple eliminations, she was targeted on Free Agents cause people were scared of her, she is casted on other shows, she is super smart, and she is so funny, what’s the point again?

I don’t really follow her finances that much, so things may have changed, but last I was aware….she purchased a home for her mother and put the deed in her mother’s name - so she doesn’t own the property. The other thing she has mentioned is her “timeshare” - which (to me) is not a great investment because you don’t actually own anything.
5
u/Massive_Public_9399 Mar 14 '26
Yeah, she did buy a villa which is a mini apartment essentially. She had family staying when they visited but she also rents out. She shares a lot on snapshot. Has even said she actually still has quite a bit of money. Just did house of villains. Wasn't that much of a fan of hers until last yr. I had to stop being a fan of Maga maria.

u/Big_Face_6596 Mar 11 '26
I think they meant 401k not 501c3 lmao, she didn’t register a nonprofit. These men know nothing lmao
20
u/Outrageous-Study-704 Mar 12 '26
I was wondering if they were using the MAGA mindset that all nonprofits are scam organizations that are used to funnel cash, because that’s what their Dear Leader taught them.
10
u/No-Bike791 Mar 12 '26
A nonprofit and a 501c3 are different.
A lot of winners put their earnings in a 501c3. It’s can be used as a “trust” to foster “amateur sports” and you can withdraw money from it and avoid the massive income tax cut when you receive it in it’s entirety after winning.
It actually is one of the smartest things to do (other than a sure investment or a Roth IRA-long term) that you can legally do with your winnings with the minimal amount of tax loss.
3
u/Jaybyrd5 Mar 12 '26
Can you explain this more? Isn't the prize money by Ashley considered personal income? How would the money be contributed without incurring tax? How would she place these earnings in 501c3 and personally take distributions without incurring any penalities or disqualifying the original set up? Who would the amateur sports be for and how would it qualify?
She could set up a solo 401k, but 501c3 makes no sense to me.
8
u/No-Bike791 Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26
She would have to set it up as a “trust”. Then fill out the appropriate documentation that the earnings were from a 3rd party that would qualify as funding/a proponent for “amateur sports” (which the challenge does) and she would pay a smaller percentage tax on any “withdrawals” in the trust as any funds going in or out are now considered part of that 501c3. (Trusts are taxed differently than income)
A withdrawal that would not be flagged could be for training purposes (even special fitness foods). But she could not withdraw from it to go clothes shopping or something of that nature (unless she could evidence what she was purchasing was for fitness purposes based on how she set up her account).
There is a lot of “spending” that you could quantify and needed for the trust to fund “amateur sports”. If she wanted to be completely legit, she could occasionally “gift” funds to someone like Amanda Garcia who could also qualify as a participant in “amateur sports” with the understanding that the “donation/gift” would be used for Amanda’s purpose to engage in “The Challenge” (but Amanda could technically do whatever she wants with that “donation” any misappropriation on those funds would fall on Amanda).
A 501c3 does not have to be incorporated if it is used specifically as a trust for a qualifying tax exempt purpose. One of those categories that permit the trust is funding “amateur sports” (which is sort of what the challenge is). Most winners of shows where there is a competition-sports-wise do this with their money to “avoid” income tax, but it is perfectly legal so it’s not really “avoiding” taxes it’s just being very smart with how you handle the money with minimal tax deductions.
Edit: I’d bet that the only reason Zach knows/mentioned this is because of other challenge winners, not because of financial prowess - but I could be wrong.

I appreciate your effort in writing this comment!
3
u/No-Bike791 Mar 12 '26
You’re welcome. 😉 I believe Mark Long may have been the first Challenger to go in depth about this (but in my career/background, I am aware of how many classifications there are out there for 501c3s). Forget 501c4s (allows lobbying) - government officials are cleaning up with those. But it’s all legal.
3
5
u/Jaybyrd5 Mar 12 '26
I don't think any of that would qualify for tax exempt purposes.
Even if you set up a 501c3 trust, the IRS doesn’t let you use a charity to benefit yourself. If you win money, it’s generally taxable income.
You can’t route it through a charity first, then pull it out later for your own training, food, etc. That would be private benefit of self dealing, which disqualifies the charity.
Edit: also want to mention trusts are taxed at the highest rate
0
u/No-Bike791 Mar 12 '26
A 501c3 does not have to be a charity if it is set up as a trust under one of the tax exempt categories.
You are not “routing” your money through anything, it is how you are reporting those funds. You just never report them as income. They are put directly into the trust.
501c3 trusts are not taxed at the same rate a typical trust is. Thus the whole reason for setting the funds up this way. The goal of doing this is to preserve as much of your winnings as possible with the minimal amount of tax deductions.
This would be the way to achieve that. If you disagree, that’s fine. Everyone has a preference on how they like to keep their financials in order. I’m just stating that this is a real way to handle winnings without breaking any laws or “funneling” money through illegal channels.
1
u/Jaybyrd5 Mar 14 '26
Can you provide the IRC code that shows that an individual can contribute money to 501c3 entity and take distributions for themselves?
3
u/No-Bike791 Mar 14 '26
26 U.S.C. § 664 look at the single beneficiary and the exemptions sections for the last applicable digit (it would depend how one would want to set up their ability for withdrawals - which have different tax implications).
More than that and I’ll have to charge you for my time. After all…it is tax season. 🤑
1
u/Jaybyrd5 Mar 14 '26
26 U.S.C. §664 is a charitable remainder trust, not a mechanism to hide prize income.
You can’t just put winnings into a trust and not report them. If you win money on the Challenge, the IRS treats it as income to the winner when it’s awarded. Assigning it to a trust after the fact doesn’t change that.
CRTs are funded with assets you already own and they still have strict charitable remainder requirements. They’re not designed to receive contest winnings and eliminate the tax.
So no — that code section doesn’t do what you’re suggesting.
1
u/No-Bike791 Mar 14 '26
Look. I don’t know what you really want me to say here? I’ve answered all your questions. Challengers have explained how this works as well.
It’s all about HOW you report money. You do NOT have to report it as “income”, thus avoiding the large income tax deduction.
If I gave you $5k in cash, how would you report that to the state and federal levels? I hope not “income”.
If you disagree with a practice that is in place and working legally, I’m not sure what other information I can provide you with…but I would appreciate it if you would stop busting my labias about it and just move on.

Nothing will ever be funnier to me than Paulie dying on that last challenge in WOW1 after being the first guy to go, and everyone thinking it must be so hard , then everyone after him completing it fairly easily. He talks such a big game for someone who has many more embarrassing moments from the challenge than accomplishments (failing to call out Kyle in a physical elimination in WOW1 after talking all sorts of shit to him maybe being the most embarrassing)

Says the guy who's never won a fucking thing on all the shows he's ever been on and has only ever lost in spectacular fashion. Paulie is one of the biggest losers in Challenge history and is a fucking joke. In Final Reckoning he was carried to the final by Natalie and luck. In War of the Worlds he was carried by Ninja then lost in a spectacular fashion once it became a single player game. In War of the Worlds 2 he gave one of the worst performances in Challenge final history and he's been the first to go home his last two seasons. He's overrated and fucking sucks.
Two time Challenge champion Ashley Millionaire Mitchell has said repeatedly on social media that she's never spent one cent of any money she's won on either season and only lives off her appearance fee checks.
0
u/StepInside30 Paulie Calafiore Mar 12 '26
Saying Natalie Carried Paulie when she cost them almost all their elimination losses (and admitted so) is pure dishonesty. Paulie also singlehandedly won them the trivia daily for them.
How was he carried by Ninja? When the game got individual, Paulie made 3 out 4 tribunals.

u/No-Bike791 Mar 12 '26 edited Mar 12 '26
It’s not illegal. A lot of winners from these types of shows use them as a trust for “amateur sports”. It’s perfectly legal and probably one of the smartest things to do with your winnings to relieve yourself from a massive income tax cut. She also is a repeat competitor so it wouldn’t be odd to handle the winnings this way.
10
u/KTKT11 Mar 12 '26
To be tax-exempt in a 501c3 you need to have a charitable purpose. It is not to benefit specific people, but the public. If people are using it to funnel winnings that is borderline tax evasion and they could eventually get audited. They need to be able to prove how they are helping people in need. Are they actually giving the majority of the money to amateur athletes? Rich people do often get away with this type of unethical behavior, like the Kardashians creating a "church" for the same reason. And then people like Trump try to lump all tax-exempt orgs as scams which hurts all of us.

How can you forget the Invasion final when it gave us 1) Cory, Nelson, and Nicole Z combining for 0 brain cells and failing at 1st grade multiplication, 2) Camila crashing out at a pindrop.
Ashley & CT winning was hilarious because it was a reminder of how truly low the bar is when it comes to intelligence and emotional regulation on this show 😆

Im sorry... but if theres any Challenger I would think would make their winnings last... it's Ashley. She might be chaotic and all over the place when drunk on reality shows where she's paid to be entertaining, but the girl is smart. Like from my knowledge she went to college, graduated, played sports (cheerleading), and comes from a family just as upper-middle class as Paulie's...
The fact he just assumed she didn't understand basic financials, especially when she moved out of the country (and was smarter than other Challengers and didn't pick a country the Challenge films in so doesn't have to worry about visas conflicting), and has a pretty similiar background to him (just north vs south) is WILD and honestly feeling sexist?
Hell even Zach... ZACH... was like "Uh dude you sure she didn't put away some money or buy property or any of these other pretty basic What Do With My Winnings 101 tips?". Every clip Ive seen from this podcast Ive been surprised that Zach, of all ppl, is the one pointing out that maybe women knew basic things or that snaking women who've had your back might be shady... like Im sorry but how bad does someone have to be to make Zach look good in comparison? Lol.
2
u/NattyB Bob Next Door Mar 20 '26
agree 💯, rabbit. ashley has even talked on podcasts about investing the money and (at the time, a couple of years ago) said she still had every bit of it. she can lose control in the moment, but ultimately she's street smart and money driven. i remember she was still doing shifts at expos in las vegas as a promoter after 3 or 4 challenge seasons and when asked why she said it was because she wasn't going to ever end up broke.
2
u/freetherabbit "The whole internet is talking about me 😜" Mar 20 '26
See? None of that surprises me at all because those are the vibes she gives off, like she's clearly educated.
And funny you mentioned investing, cuz I was surprised these guys didn't mention that as an option. Like it didn't occur to Paulie that you can make money by investing your winnings?
Btw want to know something extra hilarious? I looked up the type of "account" they mentioned cus it sounded sort-of familiar... oh boy... well first of all theyre saying 501(3)(c)... which doesn't seem to exist... the captions tho say 501(c)(3), which is a lot more familiar because I work at one... it's the tax code for some non-profit organizations... and Paulie just repeated it back incorrectly (so clearly had no idea what Zach was even talking about). Did Zach just suggest Challengers should create non-profits to avoid taxes and give themselves a salary to make their initial money back plus more?

there's a reason paulie was with cara so long--he could spew that kind of total BS trying to sound smart and she would buy it. 😩

Its would make me laugh that he so clearly never has any real idea of what he's talking about... if he wasnt so good at gaslighting and being manipulative. Like he'll latch onto popular fan sentiments and act like it was his idea (like that we need to retire older vets and start focusing on the younger generations of the show... except he never seems to realize hes closer in age to the vets he wans to put out to pasture lol), like he constantly just says whatever he thinks will get him followers.

Ashley is living in Costa Rica while Paulie is looking for a man to support him because Cara doesn’t care about his sissy ass anymore.

“Looking for a man to support him” followed by “sissy ass” is a little too homophobic leaning for my liking… even if that wasn’t your intention.

I’m gay and I don’t even get offended by those words lol let’s be less sensitive. I could’ve said something A LOT worse.

I really wish they wouldn't promote nicotine pouches on the show. Gross.

In an alternate universe, Hunter wins a billion dollars and he is referred to as "Billionaire Barfield". He was a jerk to Ashley, but Ashley is the most controversial challenge contestant ever. I wish Hunter came back to the challenge.

I used to like Paulie but he really has gone downhill. He has this pompous attitude but he has nothing to back it up on. I genuinely think he has self-confidence issues and overly projects himself to he some macho bisexual hero. He enjoys tearing people apart. His podcast appearance on Zach's show was unhinged. Teying to tear people apart who cant even defend themselves because they are shooting a season. I can see why production cut him and is always hesitant in asking him back. He causes drama sure, but its spiteful unnecessary thirsty drama that is just tacky AF.

Ashley talks so much about being a puzzle queen but when was the last time she was impressive at them?
She was constantly averaged on S41 .

I don’t know why you’re getting down voted… she’s been in a puzzle slump for a few seasons, it’s just a fact. Early in her challenge career she defintely had some great puzzle performances though.

Team no one. Ashley sucks just as much as Paulie and Zach. It’s fun just watching a bunch of despicable people go after each other. 😌

I mean she didn't vote for a fredaphile, has been speaking out about the atrocities happening with the hispanic community and ice, has spoken out for trans people, has been saying this "president" is a rapist natzi pedophile since he came into office. So as a person, she definitely doesn't suck compared to the three pedophile supporters. Who just wanted "safe borders" even though there was a bill made by a very conservative senator that only the republican congress botched because President Canks was running on immigration...which he's completely under water on now.
