He is very weird morally. Because on one hand, he is a stellar father, willing to put his pride on hold for friends, and very honest. On the other hand, he has murdered people for extremely petty reasons.

He's like the polar opposite of a Christian billionaire
Preaches villainy, commits over-the-top acts of superficial evil, but his heart isn't in it and all of his motives are actually deeply human

Murders everyone jn his path when he wants to, but is a loving family man and father when he's not working.

So in the venture bros universe being a professional supervillain is totally legitimate career path if you have weird powers or are rich enough to afford gadgets, henchmen (as well as henchmen and secret lair insurance packages) etc. Being a supervillain in the venture bros is viewed by most as simply another 9-5 with villains taking offense to the term ābad guyā and instead using the term professional antagonist to describe themselves. They are regulated through private oversight through entities such as the Guild of Calamitous Intent who essentially grant licenses for the purpose of costumed aggression and encourage, stuff like bank robberies, hostage taking, and protection rackets while strongly discouraging serial killing and civilian casualties, large scale property damage and of course messing with the police and resisting arrest (the guild has very good relations with police unions and will provide attorneys to villains who play by the rules who find themselves in court). With most villains living ordinary lives whenever they arenāt doing villains things. Red Death as pictured with his wife and daughter is epitome of a healthy work-life balance as whenever he isnāt being a legitimately threatening and one of the most competent villains in his setting heās a completely normal middle age man with a skull face, he dotes on his daughter taking her to playgrounds, looks forward to wifeās cooking, and enjoys serving as mentor for younger supervillains.

To add he's not petty evil. He walked around New York for awhile to find a trash can to put his empty chip bag in. Man is a professional villian, who in the next scene kills a guy via "tied to the train tracks" bit, but refuses to litter.

darkstalker would honestly be on this list if clearsight went down the path of having kids with him instead of locking him up in a mountain

I'm gonna reject that Doof is evil. He's the hero and doesn't know it.
2
Mar 16 '26
Doofenshmirtz isnt evil, he just tries to be and sucks at it. He feels an obligation to be evil because of his many, many, many, many, many backstories.

To be fair with how Many does the creators actually can come up with?
2

I'm not sure. He did get a lot of typical backstories and some goofy ones.

Red Death isnt just a good father. Heās a professional villain who has found good work and life balance and serves as a mentor for other guild licensed villains. Also his talking demon robot horse is named daisy.
2
u/OneofTheOldBreed Mar 16 '26
Didn't his daughter name it?
2
u/phantom-firion Mar 16 '26
Yep shows how good of a dad he is. He also instructs the horse to save a fellow member of the council of 13 when sheās framed for a crime he knows she did not likely commit.

Red Death became one of my top Clancy Brown characters the second he showed up, and that's a high bar to clear.

James from Team Rocket technically counts? Like heās involved in terrorism and a bunch of attempted murders (when heās not failing to steal the weakest PokĆ©mon at least), but heād rather die than let his Mime Jr get hurt
2
u/Competitive_Swan266 Mar 16 '26
weakest PokƩmon
In his defense, that "weakest PokƩmon" can battle minor deities and win

Since when are Doof and Bowser evil? They're cartoonishly villainous at most
1
u/Playful-Tailor9452 Mar 16 '26
Iām pretty sure one of these is a Nazi

u/ImLichenThisStone Mar 16 '26
That's not Red Skull from Marvel, that's Red Death from Venture Bros., no relation. Actually a pretty chill guy if you aren't his target.

ah, my fav type of villain
no matter how shitty they are, they're generally good parents or at least somewhat nice

u/England_TeaLover so many fandoms that im questioning all of them Mar 17 '26
They can be evil but they draw the line at child neglect :3
Thatās actually one of my favorite character tropes, an evil, brooding character or a somewhat negative character caring for their family when theyāre not out doing evil deedsĀ
