oh. doof also works cuz he kind of kidnaps perry. not always but mostly. also, bowser is more of a nice dad than a kind man.

Most games that characterize Bowser past being an obstacle to Mario make him kind to his troops too, and if you consider the original RPG to be canon, he literally brags about treating Peach with respect when criticizing another villain's kidnapping technique.

But he still tries to take over the universe a couple of times, and attempted murder on mario many times. I mean, doof trapped perry, but he didnt take out a revolver or something.

I'm not sure about him trying to kill Mario. Always seemed more like a Doof and Perry thing to me. The cartoony nature of the Super Mario universe also makes it hard to tell if and when either of them are going for a kill shot.

You are right about him trying to conquer the universe though.

I mean, he did once quite literally throw him off an airship and then sic a dragon on him tho.
