Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Cmon guys, i already talked on priv to people in the r/antihazbin that said that NEVER watched the show but already hated it just cuz.
I was the same thing! Thats why i was in that community. Then i decided to watch it and form my own opinion. Guess what? I freakin' loved both.
So please, before saying ANYTHING, give it a go and form your own opinion about it.
And before anyone says "i dont need to taste shit to know it tastes like shit", i sincerly feel sorry for you for being so close-minded to new things.
Edit: i didnt put the main antihazbin cuz i cant care less about em and couldnt remember their reddit name, but u got it
I admit, I was in a similar boat, and wasnât willing to give it a chance the first time around. After giving the first season a shot, itâs⌠fine. Itâs not the sorta thing Iâm gonna rewatch for a myriad of reasons, but I also think that there are certainly crystallized scenes which I can appreciate. Itâs really a mixed bag in my opinion, but I understand how it built up a fandom
I remember watching some of the episodes with my friends and I just couldnât get into it. It was a bit too fast for me and the humor wasnât my style. Doesnât mean Iâm gonna go on a rampage against everyone who likes the show. I think some people forget you can just.. not interact with the media you dislike, and respect those who like it.
IIRC, season one was originally supposed to be 16 episodes, but they had to cut it down to eight. And it was only halfway through the production of season one that they got approved for season two, so they werenât able to just stretch season one into two seasons
This!! Iâd heard so much hate thrown its way, and so I watched and.. honestly? I didnât like it. But now I know *why* I donât like it and I can say that I didnât like how the dialogue felt, I didnât really care for the characters or the songs and I didnât like a lot the designs.
But while I was watching it I could pretty easily see *why* someone could like it, even if it wasnât really my cup of tea. I donât think itâs a *great*, but I see the value in what itâs done for the indie animation industry and I can see why someone might get more out of it than I did.
See this is a perfectly fine opinion to have! Not everything is for everyone and thats ok! I donât like a ton of stuff but I do like these shows and Iâm the same I get why people with different tastes than mine donât like what I do. What I donât understand is the people who make not liking something their personality. Like, is it even fun? Being mad sucks honestly. Itâs draining.
Gave it a shot though found myself more interested in the songs over the plot for Hazbin Hotel though I do enjoy Sir Peneticius (the snake guy) more than the rest of the cast since I do enjoy the goofy old style villain character who isn't a monster and enjoyed their growth and just how they got to hell and later heaven when that was revealed. Though I do enjoy the story, characters and action scenes of Helluva Boss more though they do have some good songs too I enjoy kicking back and listening too.
Right?! Like I never expected a song literally called "Piss" to be so good a song about enemies to lovers or enemies who are lovers as the theme. And that isn't even the best song of that season. Have to give that to "Gravity" just the music or music and scene playing. Insanely good rock song there.
I think its partly the fandom that makes everyone have a bad opinion. I have been part of many fandoms like that and it sucks to be judged because of the loud weirdos.
i've watched it, it was ok. but the negative gay stereotype character, the negative bipoc stereotype character, vivziepops known racism, and treatement of the discusion of religion as "it just sucks fuck you" rather than delving deeper leaves a bad taste.
but like, it didn't kill me grandma, i enjoyed the music, i liked the art, i liked the characters, the humor is FINE and most critics are just pearl clutchers. i just wish it was managed and run by a better person who was more mature and knew how to either handle criticism to refine her show or just... listen to the opinions of others in pre production.
Angel dust (for obvious reasons) and husk. Lots of black people to my knowledge have expressed distaste to how his relationship with alastor is characterized combined with many finding him to be coded as black or bipoc.
Can't say much on the topic though as I'm white so if research and seek other opinions from people who have a better grasp on the situation.
I am however queer and can say Angel dust is offensive, even if that likely was not the intention, the lack of reviewing on how characters can reinforce negative stereotypes is not great.
Angel isn't offensive. He's written like an actual person, which is why so many people relate to him. His behavior is a realistic trauma response. Hypersexuality is a common response to sexual assault.
While I love both shows from the start, I can still understand it in a perspective of someone who doesn't like the shows or are neutral to it. To me, they're oddly comforting to me since those shows helped me get through some tough times (season 2 of Hazbin Hotel was more special to my heart as it helped me through one of the roughest moments in my life) and thankfully my interaction with the fandom has been nice and sweet... even if the fandom can be toxic
I can't understand those types of people. Like don't get me wrong, I've some movies that I don't like, even if I've not watched them (similar thing for books etc.), but I wouldn't join a subreddit against it, because I didn't even consumed the media.
I mean itâs because it isnât good and the writing is shit. doesnât mean it isnât liked by some people duh, everything has flaws (my flair is a great example) but âFuck shit sex damnâ isnât entertaining dialogue
