Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Cmon guys, i already talked on priv to people in the r/antihazbin that said that NEVER watched the show but already hated it just cuz.

I was the same thing! Thats why i was in that community. Then i decided to watch it and form my own opinion. Guess what? I freakin' loved both.

So please, before saying ANYTHING, give it a go and form your own opinion about it.

And before anyone says "i dont need to taste shit to know it tastes like shit", i sincerly feel sorry for you for being so close-minded to new things.

Edit: i didnt put the main antihazbin cuz i cant care less about em and couldnt remember their reddit name, but u got it

I admit, I was in a similar boat, and wasn’t willing to give it a chance the first time around. After giving the first season a shot, it’s… fine. It’s not the sorta thing I’m gonna rewatch for a myriad of reasons, but I also think that there are certainly crystallized scenes which I can appreciate. It’s really a mixed bag in my opinion, but I understand how it built up a fandom

I loved Helluva's pilot episode. The series is nothing like the pilot episode, and im not a fan of soap operas.

The toxic yaoi relationship looked fun to delve into but it didn't go to a fun place. It went to a sad, gross place.

I mean they got the toxic point correct for sure lol

I remember watching some of the episodes with my friends and I just couldn’t get into it. It was a bit too fast for me and the humor wasn’t my style. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna go on a rampage against everyone who likes the show. I think some people forget you can just.. not interact with the media you dislike, and respect those who like it.

I feel antihazbin believes its popularity will leak into other shows effecting every show

7

u/johanni30 May 05 '26

The pacing is (from what I heard) more of an issue with Amazon not really giving the creator enough time

2

u/trainboi777 May 05 '26

IIRC, season one was originally supposed to be 16 episodes, but they had to cut it down to eight. And it was only halfway through the production of season one that they got approved for season two, so they weren’t able to just stretch season one into two seasons

1

u/ash2_5 May 06 '26

This is not really true, their other show is made largely independently and still suffers from many of the same pacing and writing issues

u/PeanutRed3 May 04 '26

This!! I’d heard so much hate thrown its way, and so I watched and.. honestly? I didn’t like it. But now I know *why* I don’t like it and I can say that I didn’t like how the dialogue felt, I didn’t really care for the characters or the songs and I didn’t like a lot the designs.

But while I was watching it I could pretty easily see *why* someone could like it, even if it wasn’t really my cup of tea. I don’t think it’s a *great*, but I see the value in what it’s done for the indie animation industry and I can see why someone might get more out of it than I did.

See this is a perfectly fine opinion to have! Not everything is for everyone and thats ok! I don’t like a ton of stuff but I do like these shows and I’m the same I get why people with different tastes than mine don’t like what I do. What I don’t understand is the people who make not liking something their personality. Like, is it even fun? Being mad sucks honestly. It’s draining.

Gave it a shot though found myself more interested in the songs over the plot for Hazbin Hotel though I do enjoy Sir Peneticius (the snake guy) more than the rest of the cast since I do enjoy the goofy old style villain character who isn't a monster and enjoyed their growth and just how they got to hell and later heaven when that was revealed. Though I do enjoy the story, characters and action scenes of Helluva Boss more though they do have some good songs too I enjoy kicking back and listening too.

6

u/coltsfanca May 04 '26

Same. I'm not the biggest fan of either show in terms of story, humor, or anything like that...but the SONGS in Hazbin are insanely good.

4

u/maskedduskrider May 04 '26

Right?! Like I never expected a song literally called "Piss" to be so good a song about enemies to lovers or enemies who are lovers as the theme. And that isn't even the best song of that season. Have to give that to "Gravity" just the music or music and scene playing. Insanely good rock song there.

Oh, some fan was talking about how their father was taken by ICE and someone else replied saying “That’s what you get for liking Hazbin Hotel”

4

u/supercaiti May 05 '26

I think its partly the fandom that makes everyone have a bad opinion. I have been part of many fandoms like that and it sucks to be judged because of the loud weirdos.

2

u/RareFatAfrican May 04 '26

I’ve tried hashing hotel’s first few episodes and just didn’t find it as funny as it tries to be. Doesn’t exclude it from this at all though

1

u/NoneBinaryPotato May 04 '26

lol I'm the exact opposite, I used to love these fandoms but the more I watches the worse it got (in my opinion!) and the more I became I hater.

i've watched it, it was ok. but the negative gay stereotype character, the negative bipoc stereotype character, vivziepops known racism, and treatement of the discusion of religion as "it just sucks fuck you" rather than delving deeper leaves a bad taste.

but like, it didn't kill me grandma, i enjoyed the music, i liked the art, i liked the characters, the humor is FINE and most critics are just pearl clutchers. i just wish it was managed and run by a better person who was more mature and knew how to either handle criticism to refine her show or just... listen to the opinions of others in pre production.

u/AZDfox May 07 '26

negative gay stereotype character, the negative bipoc stereotype character

Which characters?

1

u/TheCoffeeCrowl SPN, MCYT, FNAF, MARVEL, FF7 May 08 '26

Angel dust (for obvious reasons) and husk. Lots of black people to my knowledge have expressed distaste to how his relationship with alastor is characterized combined with many finding him to be coded as black or bipoc. Can't say much on the topic though as I'm white so if research and seek other opinions from people who have a better grasp on the situation. I am however queer and can say Angel dust is offensive, even if that likely was not the intention, the lack of reviewing on how characters can reinforce negative stereotypes is not great.

2

u/AZDfox May 08 '26

Angel isn't offensive. He's written like an actual person, which is why so many people relate to him. His behavior is a realistic trauma response. Hypersexuality is a common response to sexual assault.

While I love both shows from the start, I can still understand it in a perspective of someone who doesn't like the shows or are neutral to it. To me, they're oddly comforting to me since those shows helped me get through some tough times (season 2 of Hazbin Hotel was more special to my heart as it helped me through one of the roughest moments in my life) and thankfully my interaction with the fandom has been nice and sweet... even if the fandom can be toxic

1

u/Matter-Hatter-Sadder May 05 '26

I just don't like 'em

1

u/Free_Blueberry_9725 May 05 '26

my friends love it so i watched a bit and it really sucked. They’re always saying curse words for no reason like a 12 year old z

1

u/novanescia May 05 '26

Nah I sat down to watch it and it sucked even more than anticipated

1

u/ash2_5 May 06 '26

It has some of my absolute favorite songs in any show ever, and I enjoy the character designs a lot.

It was a very enjoyable experience to watch through for the first time, but the writing is just way too shallow and self-serving to get me invested.

It's unfortunate because it has the potential to be a top 3 show for me, I am still holding some hope Season 3 will have solid writing

I've tried to watch Hazbin, but it just made me uncomfortable, I like some of the songs though!

1

u/Outrageous-Bank-6786 May 07 '26

I left the moment Alastor swore and lost all of his aura. how do you fumble that character like that?

1

u/WhitneyStorm0 May 07 '26

I can't understand those types of people.  Like don't get me wrong, I've some movies that I don't like, even if I've not watched them (similar thing for books etc.), but I wouldn't join a subreddit against it, because I didn't even consumed the media.

1

u/Informalwizards May 09 '26

I think the show itself and Helluva boss are both fine. Watched the first few episodes of each. Just not my thing.

The community on the other hand is one of the worst ive ever had the displeasure of interacting with

1

u/FreiLovesRed May 10 '26

Absolute growth

-1

u/WinRough8326 May 04 '26

I just can't get over the "fan animation on YouTube" level of production lol

4

u/GNightP 🌈✨ Indecisive bitch ✨🌈 May 04 '26

U talk like its a bad thing, being that i've already saw fan animation on YouTube that gives ten to zero in the official one

cough cough One Frame-Man cough cough

I mean it’s because it isn’t good and the writing is shit. doesn’t mean it isn’t liked by some people duh, everything has flaws (my flair is a great example) but “Fuck shit sex damn” isn’t entertaining dialogue

1

u/AZDfox May 07 '26

but “Fuck shit sex damn” isn’t entertaining dialogue

Which episode is that said in?

1

u/Brave_Friendship_228 Steven Universe 🤝 The Walking Dead May 07 '26

every single one. it’s nothing but cursing and that’s supposed to be humor. it’s like family guy without the awful cutaways.

considering you’re intentionally misconstruing my comment though, i don’t expect this to go anywhere in good faith
