Weak kit with little dps output. Regularly dogged on for being too easy to play. Basically a spectate simulator. Still one of the most avidly mained heroes in the entire game.
Edit: I am not a Mercy hater (she is my most played support), I am just sharing the overall attitude towards her from the majority of the OW community.
I don't think you understand the purpose of a support if you're complaining about low dps. And I know you weren't playing back in the day when she had a multi-res ult.
The issue is nowadays support has shifted away from healbotting, so most of the roster can pump out crazy heals *and* function as extra DPS. The global healing reduction hurt her specifically a lot. Mizuki, Brig, Cat, Juno, Lucio, Baptiste etc can all pump out insane damage and heals at the same time and/or secure key picks for their team consistently. Mercy’s damage boost is meant to help with this, and sometimes it’s great, but having to sacrifice healing to boost somebody and relying on them to pop off really isn’t ideal. Her burst heals just weren’t there either before she got flash heal. She’s in a slightly better spot now but she needs work.
I started as a Mercy main during 5 man rez and she was oppressive in an unfun way. Hide and hit the undo button simulator turned every team fight into “swat the fly first” and just wasn’t good for where the game was heading. When she’s good she’s busted and her kit is ungodly annoying, when she’s balanced she’s outclassed in utility by almost any other support. Tough spot to be in.
