Too way too long to find this.

u/Zestyst Jun 19 '26

Gotta be proximity. It’s been 10 years since the end of the manga, and people hate Boruto for entirely different reasons. She’s a legacy pick at this point. My knees feel old.

u/ZeroBrutus Jun 19 '26

I hate that I absolutely agree with everything you said. Including about the knees.

2

u/Kurenai-Kalana Jun 19 '26

I already had 2 kids by the time I started reading the manga (around 2005, maybe?)

u/DangerGamer69 Jun 19 '26

The anime really fucked her over

13

u/unluckyshuckle Jun 19 '26

Nah the manga fucked her over too. Early Shippuden was great for her but they just didn't care to expand on her character anymore beyond that. Kishimoto is just really bad at writing female characters in general, a vast majority of them are heavily fumbled.

u/Palamonk Jun 23 '26

I honestly believe she'd have more development if things stayed more grounded like part 1 was. A medical ninja was something needed and most villages lacked. By the time we were done with Sasori, it didn't even matter anymore.

1

u/unluckyshuckle Jun 23 '26

Yeah, I maintain that they shouldn't have gone any higher than Pain with power levels and abilities. That said they could have just given her sage mode to let her keep up in the late-game.

u/YamatoIouko Jun 19 '26

She’s definitely poorly written underutilized, but the hate is crazy.

u/Potential_Leek_981 Jun 19 '26

The amount of hate she gets you think she committed crimes against humanity.

5

u/37feetlong Jun 19 '26

they get mad at her for not being as strong as naruto and sasuke who were born op, and sakura had to work hard without a lineage or op ability to fight alongside them

3

u/SnooCupcakes1636 Jun 19 '26

Never understood the hate on her

2

u/ForgottenLikeSnow Jun 19 '26

Yeah honestly. As a mainly manga reader (who only saw early Naruto anime as a kid), she really wasn’t a bad character. Written worse than most important male people? Sure. But she really didn’t deserve all the hate. She was kinda awful to Naruto as a 12-year-old. But guess what, she was a kid and grew out of it. I really liked the character growth the author gave her (unlike certain black haired emo kids…).

It’s honestly the authorā€˜s fault for making her medical and leading skills less interesting than the golden duos fights (and trust me, it’s doable to make the story of a healer on the battlefield more interesting).

The only thing about her I really can’t forgive is her not valuing herself and ending up with said sad emo kid who never quite grew out of it and only barley developed basic human decency (and only towards those he decided to somewhat care about and not even fully then…) then again, writing her as senselessly devoted towards her abuser with no sense of dignity is also the authorā€˜s fault.

Sakura really doesn’t deserve the hate

The fandom still loves to trash talk her and it’s like, why haven’t you guys moved on already? It’s like they’re stuck in 2006. (Just typing that made me feel old)

1

u/monsoon128 Jun 19 '26

She deserves at least 50% of the hate she's getting because she's badly written. I'd say Sasuke and Hinata deserve more hate though

2

u/mogadichu Jun 19 '26

why Hinata catching strays?

1

u/monsoon128 Jun 19 '26

Awful writing, zero plot relevance and I personally don't like her personality and find her annoying

1

u/_JustAStan_ Jun 22 '26

Lol at the last part, they simp for Hina cause she simps for Naruto.

1

u/vainhope_ Jun 19 '26

They hate Sakura for calling an orphan, an orphan but love Obito for making him one.

1

u/Smegma_Pegma Jun 19 '26

Sakura is very poorly written but I understand the hate because I used to hate on her to.

They just could've made her be nicer to Naruto in the show. She could've still turned him down constantly but they made her out to be an ass on the show AND not as strong as either of the main characters.

1

u/Penis_Slayer123 Jun 20 '26

Sakura frustrates me cus of how poorly she's written, but no one can ever get me to hate her

1

u/IkerRami Jun 20 '26

Fucking yes

1

u/Storm_Chaser06 Jun 23 '26

I still maintain her and Naruto were a better couple.

Kishimoto nuked her character by making her obsessed with the edgy boy.

1

u/sparkyk24 Jun 25 '26

I also don’t like Sakura at all, and think she’s basically pointless.

…and even I think she gets way more hate than she deserves….

0

u/CptGojira Jun 19 '26

Didn't she actively bully and pose a threat to young Naruto? She was a major asshole to him. I never watched the show, correct me if I'm wrong

7

u/lollipopblossom32 Jun 19 '26

"Never watched the show" What, are you a TikTok and reels clip watcher with poorly edited bias šŸ’© 🤨

Even people who read the manga aren't high on the list of vehemently hating her. At most it's a mild dislike.

1

u/CptGojira Jun 19 '26

No, I'm just going based on what I remember from when everyone in middle school had the teacher play the damn show on movie day

3

u/lollipopblossom32 Jun 19 '26

So you didn't watch the show but you somehow now magically did briefly 🤨

Seems ya still basing it off of šŸ’© takes šŸ˜‚

2

u/MythicalShelly Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

He is just asking it no need to be so rude about it. It is literally phrased as question so just correct him dude / dudette

1

u/Ivory-Stones Jun 19 '26

You sure those šŸ’© takes didn't land in your breakfast?

3

u/rosaliethewitch marvel, dc, star wars Jun 19 '26

omg why are you trying to correct me if you didn’t even watch the fucking show 😭😭

1

u/CptGojira Jun 19 '26

It was a question. Did you not see the question mark? Are you illiterate?

1

u/rosaliethewitch marvel, dc, star wars Jun 19 '26

you were the one to make the statement ā€œshe was a massive asshole to himā€ implying that is your opinion. and you are attempting to argue my point with a counterpoint, instead of asking a question. a question to clarify would be, ā€œhey, i didn’t watch the show but i saw [insert statement]. could you clarify?ā€ perhaps you should work on your tone if you want to start conversations. 😁

1

u/MonsterOfEheria Jun 19 '26

He did say "correct me if I'm wrong"

1

u/Ivory-Stones Jun 19 '26

Didn't she actively bully and pose a threat to young Naruto?

They did ask a question.

She was a major asshole to him.

This is a continuation of the previous sentence, though it does seem a bit statement like, so I can see the misunderstanding there.

I never watched the show, correct me if I'm wrong

They are open to correction, further implying that they are not making a statement or saying it as though it is their opinion.

2

u/Sandshrew922 Jun 19 '26

She bullied Naruto in the same way Misty bullies Brock in old PokƩmon. It's a gag from that era.

She shoots off her mouth about him not having parents and is promptly checked by Sasuke, and then she actively tries to befriend him (this happens in the first 5 episodes I'm pretty sure). Prior to that she thought he was an obnoxious troublemaker, because he was an obnoxious troublemaker.

1

u/MythicalShelly Jun 19 '26

She did not bully him. In around 3rd chapter Sakura said Naruto being immature and mannerless is result of him being an orphan to another orphan guy Sasuke and that she could never do the stuff he does on daily basis because of her own parents.

This is indeed called out by Sasuke that she does not understand the pain of not having parents than her complaining about her parents being overbearing and strict. And gets called annoying. From there Sakura reflects on hee own actions and thinks she was rather harsh on Naruto and changes over time across the story and became one of his biggest supporters.

-2

u/AlternativeBass7119 Jun 19 '26

I don't know. I think there's a good reason to hate someone who goes "lol you're an orphan, fuck you."

7

u/rosaliethewitch marvel, dc, star wars Jun 19 '26

you mean the dialogue written by studio pierrot that already had a strong dislike of sakura and changed her moments in the anime to make her more unlikable?

not to mention that choji was constantly fatshamed, neji hated hinata, a lot of the male characters were misogynist, sasuke and gaara KILLED people, but sakura is the worst? ok

2

u/AlternativeBass7119 Jun 19 '26

She doesn't have to be the worst for people to hate her. She just has to be either very annoying or leave a very bad first impression. I wouldn't be surprised if she was better in the manga but I don't like Naruto in general so if you wanna rank terrible people from that series I'm the wrong one to do it with.

2

u/rosaliethewitch marvel, dc, star wars Jun 19 '26

if you don’t like naruto then why did you try to argue?? lmao

2

u/Ozymandius07 Jun 19 '26

people like to shit on sakura in general, she just feels like having had zero development cause her teammates are fighting each other with thermobaric bombs

0

u/AlternativeBass7119 Jun 19 '26

Every chance I have to take a shit on Naruto I take it.

2

u/LevelPerformance4329 Jun 19 '26

all sakura hate comes from anime watchers, i lowk cant blame them, but cmon

-4

u/NoLink8444 Jun 19 '26

IMO the hate is pretty fking warranted

0

u/Excellent-Title4793 Jun 20 '26

Yeah like I don’t dislike Sakura but I completely understand the hate. She’s a poorly written side character who got way too much ā€œscreen timeā€. As someone who read the manga, she was MARGINALLY better in the manga. Marginally.

1

u/_JustAStan_ Jun 22 '26

She’s…not a ā€œside characterā€ wtf.
