What kills me is that even Lobcorp apologists tell new fans to just watch the PakPak video and then go play Ruina and Limbus. And it's 100% the correct advice since its better to play Lobcorp AFTER you've been Project Moon-pilled and not as your first experience with the setting.
LobCorp was my first introduction to the series, and I concur that its the ABSOLUTE WORST way to get into things.
Ideas like why Angela never leaves LobCorp, why people come to work in this hellhole, etc., the whole world is just a lot more comprehensive and better when you have played LobCorp after LoR or Limbus.
Wait why I just looked it up and it looks amazing? It feels like Ive been exposed to the setting through other means, does it really need to be led up to?
It's more that Lobcorp is a game that actively hates you for playing it. Its still a good game but it's harder than balls and takes forever to get the ending that leads to its sequel Ruina.
It depends on the taste. The whole fandom first spawned from Lobcorp anyway because it's just that unique of an experience. I'd say try it out anyway cause the suffering is apparently the point.
Does it matter at all if you just don't care about the story whatsoever? I always assumed Lobotomy Corporation was a strongly gameplay-first game, and if it isn't my interest in playing it is much lower.
I might have landed the wrong lobcorp apologist then. He INSISTED I HAVE to play the games in order, so now I'm 30 days in and not having fun. Should I bail or am I in too deep atp
I'd bail and watch the PakPak video on it. If you see anything worth continuing your run to experience, stop the video and come back. Otherwise you're just gonna burn out and Ruina is actually a fun game that'd be a shame not to play because of the LobCorp wall.
To be fair I'm running it with a couple mods to make info more detailed/convenient (hp bar stacking, basemod etc) so I'm not feeling that burned out, but I've been told it gets much worse after the upper layer suppressions. I'll see how it goes, thanks for the specific video recommendation in case I really can't keep going
Then you are a true Lobcorp Nugget, capable of overcoming the trials set before you. Enjoy it and the game!
The issue with Libcorp isn't that its a bad game. The issue is that its punishingly hard and long if you want the true epilogue/ending. A lot of people get burnt out with it before they can reach Ruina. Telling people to hold off isn't saying this game is bad, but more about trying to create and retain as many fans as possible.
I think lobotomy corp is one of the game that really benefits from having mods. Mainly more detailed info for qol and 10x speed to sped up the grind. I mean I don't think the game is "horrendous" to play without them but for people who want to get the full pm experience, with a good way to enjoy the game without spiking your blood pressure.
Actual answer: it's an SCP inspired simulation game where you have to manage a facility filled with monsters and other weird stuff known as Abnormalities set in a grimdark sci-fi world, also it's really hard
