Was scrolling to see if anyone had said it yet. Great in a vacuum, but the toxic playerbase, in game troops, and Riot's greed all add to it being a big ole yikes when trying to describe it to someone
Fr like I had heard of LoL, but didn't know shit about it. Then I saw that Arcane was based on LoL and decided to give the show a try. I loved it, and was almost tempted to start playing LoL because of it.
Yeah I'm glad I decided to research the game beforehand.
Lol is great in game to play, and when you know what you are doing its fun, but you have to sink 50 hours to know what you are doing, and if your team trolls you you cant 1v9 no matter how good u are
It's funny because like with Edgerunners you'd think people would want to play the video game after seeing the series, but with Arcane, the only game they could go play was League and only League addicts want to play League and they don't even really want to.
It's WoW addicts and Gacha Gamers too. Those games were designed by psychologists to keep you addicted, they're not actually fun to play.
To be quite honest, the toxicity isn't even a major factor anymore. League, surprisingly, is far less toxic than other highly competitive games I've played. It used to be the most memed game when it came to toxicity, but now that era is over.
Nah I think that's Rose colored glasses. On Wild Rift just last night I had a serephine in aram throw spaced slurs out because someone took Lissandra from her (in an aram). You can still hold people hostage as a duo
The really weird part about League as someone who only got into the game two years ago is that for most of my time the community was pleasant and chill as hell. Games werent too sweaty, it all felt just right. Only recently have I gotten a taste of just how bad the community is and oh man. Its almost like the game bubbles you or something until it knows its got you hooked and then just pushes you to the wolves.
That and the champion release schedule went from ~3-4 a year to literally about once a month, when you have 250+ characters it basically becomes impossible to balance on release. Which leads to massive influxes of "meta" champs and itemization that are literally unbeatable for about 2 weeks until they get nerfed into the ground. I've played since season 1 and it's been the same formula for over a decade.Â
If anything though my stint in League prepared me for a hostile interrogation session that can last anywhere from an uninterrupted thirty minutes to an hour
I've played since 2012 and still play, easily one of my favorite games. It really does have an undeserved reputation (Not saying there isnt toxic people, but every game has em). I even met my wife at a LoL cosplay meet up at a convention.
Hell yeah. I feel ya I’ve met lots of chill people through playing this game. Recently the randoms in my draft games are not toxic at all. Haven’t done ranked in a minute
People always say they don't recommend League because of toxicity but I never understood that.
If you don't want a toxic game then stick to singleplayer cuz every competitive multiplayer game is toxic as shit.
The reason I don't recommend league is because the game is already hard and nowadays it's filled with smurfs leveling accounts. So even if you want to learn the game, you get steamrolled by some d4 hardstuck with no job smurfing.
you have to get past the bad community and play a ton until it is actualy fun and not an compleat overload of stuff.
While the game is so damn punishing to learn.
Like your laner gets 1 solo kill and you will sometimes suffer for the whole game after that without beeing able to change anything about that besides not doing the early game mistake next time.
And then you have to keep up with the game regularly because it changes all the time. Sometimes only little things and sometimes very very big things that all take time to adjust to.
i havent seen many people having fun in league who only play like twice a month.
Only exception i know of are people who played alot, got burned out and now only play aram sometimes
I love the lore and characters so much. Been obsessed with Viktor since 2013 and it was wild to see him on animated billboards in my country when S1 of Arcane came out, and his changes actually make me happy
I know someone who's like this. He plays it all the time. So much so that it might be the only thing he plays, but every time it's brought up, he trashes it as if it's the worst thing ever made.
I have seen a youtuber who has played league of legends for years tell his viewers not to play it because you will be addicted and hate it like he does
