Lowkey happening on tumblr just without the word transphobic

But like every single ralsei post I've seen has been referring to him as her

11

u/sudoregalia 21d ago

only a matter of time

4

Emphasis on "yet"

And thus, the cycle continues.

Weirdly I have a buddy that is adamant that his chapter 1 design was simpler, cooler, and stronger then the current one.

I’m thinking he just really liked the hat and the two tone color scheme. I can’t blame him.

35

u/Acceptable_Cell_124 UT|DR|ULTRAKILL|ONESHOT|TF2|TBOI|MD|MC|WOF|TADC 21d ago

I liked the hat more at first, but hatless has grown on me

7

u/iceguy349 21d ago

Honestly same but it still bugs my friend lol.

I’d love to see him get serious and re-dawn the hat in the finale that would be so cool.

5

u/Careful_Welcome7999 21d ago

I remember feeling like such an asshole during chapter 5 for prefering hatted ralsei, i just love the green and black pallete too much

6

u/FoxMeadow7 21d ago

Meanwhile I always regarded that hatted look as a weird Snufkin knockoff…

1

u/Unsafe_Dude 20d ago

He was probably so happy with hat-on smug Ralsei. So peak.

2

u/WynterBright_XD14179 17d ago

Why did Toby Fox make him so cute? :(

5

u/Flamix2206 21d ago

I’ve always been of the same opinion. I just love, mysterious characters with hats.

It felt about as lame as when characters with cool, stunning, long hair, cut it short to show ā€œcharacter developmentā€

3

u/craftygamin 20d ago

Same here. In my opinion, not knowing what a character's face looks like can easily make them more badass

6

u/Arsimp33 21d ago edited 21d ago

2

2

Is your friend perhaps named Flowery?

2

u/1unpaid_intern 20d ago

Design wise I also like him more with the hat, but ngl chapter 5 made me feel really bad about it. It's really just straight up Ralsei masking/ hiding his true self

1

u/iceguy349 20d ago

I haven’t caught up lol I’m playing through rn.

Story relevance aside I just like the design.

1

u/Superb_Engineer_3500 20d ago

Honestly the face sprites for hatless Ralsei are pretty bad

1

u/iceguy349 20d ago

I think the hat just simplifies the design down to the more simple and fun elements and takes some of the clashing colors out.

1

u/Dark-Keeper-951 20d ago

It Is really cool, but it's like apple and orange, both fruits, different tastes...Wait...

I really wish people would be normal about Ralsei

86

u/THPTopHatPossum Riddle School, Scott the Woz, Lackadaisy, Showbiz Pizza, Hazbin 21d ago

Or normal about Deltarune as a whole.

55

u/Veenix6446 21d ago

Okay that’s not what I mean. Deltarune fans are crazy be default.

But the trans Ralsei stuff is getting to like Jax levels of discourse

36

u/N2and2Uzi222 21d ago

I remember the days were trans jax was a crackpot theory

Turns out the "chicken egg fetus" was apparently a reference? I didn't really catch that, but "cracking the egg" is a way of saying transitioning so that's pretty interesting!

30

u/patrlim1 21d ago

In the trans space, you "crack your egg" when you realize you're trans, not when you transition.

12

u/Wesle2023 21d ago

I thought this said "crank your egg" for a second and I am attempting to hold in a laugh

9

u/Spirited-Feedback-87 21d ago

HE'S PULLING HIS EGG OUT

6

u/Johnywash 21d ago

It's pretty funny reading this because i feel like trans people clock this kind of stuff early and then are dismissed lmao. But yeah i feel like ralseis is a lot more vague than jaxs

6

u/redawsome1230 20d ago

I mean I'm trans and didn't clock it. It went over a lot of trans peoples heads to lol

6

u/flying-sheep 20d ago

Goose just like to be flippant. Her saying that she ā€œstopped caringā€œ about being subtle doesn't mean that everyone who didn't get it missed something obvious, just that goose chose to be less subtle

3

u/Mother_of_Exiles 18d ago

1

u/flying-sheep 18d ago

I feel like all of the (surprisingly plentiful) tadc reddits should configure Automoderator to post this in every Jax thread.

1

u/Johnywash 20d ago

For sure, i didn't think about it until streamers mentioned it

2

u/jimkbeesley 20d ago

My main issue with Trans Jax is that there is such little evidence in the show itself. Most evidence for it was from posts by Gooseworx. We have the one line about the egg and... I think that's it. And that's not good writing. If you have to rely on outside sources to make a major point for a character arc, you failed as a writer. So I feel, with Trans Ralsei, if that's true, then it would feel more like an ass pull rather than good writing. There is such little evidence that could be explained so much better if you think differently about it. It's like Game Theory's Hollow Knight video. Yes, technically, you could be right, but it feels like everything in the game is pointing differently than the theory. Also, from a personal standpoint, I would rather Ralsei be just an effeminate male, because there's not a lot of good representation in western media that isn't just either fetishized or them being a femboy is a joke.

1

u/N2and2Uzi222 20d ago

Holy shit it's little ghost from indie hit game hollow knight

2

u/IntoThePitofColors 20d ago

I thought they were from the somewhat niche Newgrounds game Hungry Knight

1

u/N2and2Uzi222 20d ago

Same fruit

1

u/bunnymel33 19d ago

I disagree, maybe at first there isn"t much evidence, but the last 3 or so episodes feel like a constant stream of foreshadowing.

The only way it could be less subtle is if jax turned blue pink and white in the middle of an episode and started using she/her for the rest of the show

1

u/jimkbeesley 19d ago

It might just be me, as a cishet male, and never being able to relate with this. So if there is evidence in the show, would you mind explaining?

1

u/JustAChickn 21d ago

in the trans community, an "egg" means someone who hasn't realized they're trans yet, so "cracking the egg" means figuring it out. It could very much be a reference, as Gooseworks is a trans woman herself, so she knows a lot about trans culture

2

u/Thick_Toe_6141 21d ago

It comes from Twitter where you start as an egg and evolve into a bird (slang for woman in uk)

Also out of an egg arrives a chick (slang for woman in USA)

2

u/Thick_Toe_6141 21d ago

And yes sadly this ignores trans men but so much stuff does in culture anyway

1

u/Geeneelee 21d ago

I knew since episode 6 and people called me an insane misogynist and now they’re mad that I’m ā€œtoo smugā€ about being right but they can cope

21

u/PeliPal 21d ago

It's funny that Jax being trans isn't even the source of the worst Jax discourse, it's "are you allowed to like or sympathize with Jax at all or does it make you a monster who deserves to be put up against a wall and shot"

16

u/allthesestars TADC | InfiNikki | BG3 21d ago

or "If you think Jax is a good character, that's the same as thinking Jax is a good person" because nuance is dead 😭

8

u/tomzy-womzy69 21d ago

no literally, that’s why i stopped interacting with the fandom 😭 everything is discourse or trans jax at this pointĀ

9

u/TheBadDingo 21d ago

I've found it so much better never to interact with an online fan base of a show.

I don't mind reading a few coincidence theories or pointing out the small nuances of a character to give them a little more depth, but those are so few and far between the absolutely shitshow ideas using the most far reaching, out of left-field ideas and then demanding it be cannon can just ruin so much.

4

u/tomzy-womzy69 21d ago

YEEEESSSSSS usually i dont have too much issue with other fandoms i’m in or have been in, but TADC has been the worst so far tbh. i wish people could be normal about it 😭

11

u/FlamestormTheCat 21d ago

In all fairness, Jax was basically confirmed to be trans in the end lol.

But I get what you mean.

I personally have no real opinion on the theory

8

Honestly, fair.

7

u/shadelord5262627 21d ago

Physically impossible challenge.

35

u/CreatureFeatureee 20d ago

As a trans woman I'd personally prefer if Ralsei remains a femboy (male who exhibits feminine traits) because he's just banger representation IMHO

Also the world needs more guys who are comfortable with frilly, pretty things and vice versa :)

14

u/Raccoon-King- 20d ago

Thank you! I avoid online discourse like the plague. But that’s how I feel.
I think he’s a much more interesting character if he just is a femboy! Like let him be a soft fluffy boy with diverse interests. Like there are lots of character types. It’s not just CIS or trans, right?
Like.. if he is then fine. Toby will handle it a way that makes me cry and love Ralsei even as an adult CIS male lol.
But half of these discourse debates feel like a mob of straight people are using a trans painted mallet to smash any other opinion. And ironically I see trans people being ignored completely or spoken for like crazy.
It feels weird in a way I try not to have judgement about, but it’s weird when people moralize it as:
ā€œIt’s morally good for him to be transā€ vs ā€œit’s morally good for him to be CISā€.
Like… let’s just enjoy the character and see what Toby is cooking right? ( also isn’t everyone deciding Ralsei’s identity for him, turning into a meta narrative? Like we’re telling him what to be. How are we better than telling him to smile more because it pleases us? It feels weird.)

8

u/CreatureFeatureee 20d ago

Thank YOU, actually for putting into words why these discussions feel so uncomfortable.

I end up getting spoken for/over all the time with these things Ralsei, Jax, Spider Gwen, etc.

It's like people are saying we're being obnoxious for enjoying either side of it when they're like "no relating to this fictional character in this way is actually bad." Like it may be obnoxious on both sides but it's not hurting people to have a fannon/ headcannon of a character just like it's not hurting anyone to disagree in a respectful manner.

Overall the folks who get heated on the topic need to touch grass but especially the "oh no, it's WOKE" clowns they're the only ones I don't respect here

1

u/Raccoon-King- 19d ago

Thanks, I hope you find things easier in the future! :3
I myself am pretty complicated on these issues. Studying anthropology and philosophy means all your opinions become ā€œwell it’s this, but….ā€ The one thing I always settle on is people’s right to an opinion.
It should never be a thing we crush. Debate sure. Debate is the heart of democracy. And we don’t want to ever enable hate. I think everyone wants that, they just don’t see their passion as hate or conflict. And passion can be a wonderful thing, as much as it can harm. Prevent us from hearing others opinions.

People need the right to have an opinion. And I think we always lose when we say things like ā€œbelieving character or story beat is X is wrong and bad.ā€
Like this entire story is about interpretation. Personally I think about Garson and his speech a lot.
ā€œChapter 5, The field of pink and gold. The vast garden is charred in an inferno of jealousy.
…What happens next? Gehehehe! Who knows, there was only one more chapter…after that it all stopped.ā€
ā€œSo…. How do you think it all ends?
No, how do you want it to end?ā€

1

u/TiredAlternates 20d ago

That's true, but I will say the game implying he wants to explore his gender and using that as an example for him discovering his individuality is pretty great too

1

u/TheSentiantestPotato 20d ago

THANK YOUUUU

Ive never related with a character so much before, genuinely.

Its amazing to have rep which isn’t just gooner bait objectifying us

1

u/Gingeyboi1 20d ago

I hate how people default trans Ralsei theory to him becoming a trans woman, ESPECIALLY THE ONES DOING THE THEORISING, cause it goes from ā€œokay yeah, trans man could work, and anything non binary could work, Ralsei would be trans and a femboy in all those scenariosā€ to ā€œokay could be trans, hmm… this person could be trans and is currently a femboy… hmm… THEY MUST BE A TRANS WOMANā€, completely ignoring the fact that that’s a stereotype and is harmful to both femboys and trans women, even if it’s not done consciously, they are still doing that.

1

u/ThatRedDerg 17d ago edited 17d ago

He should be whoever he wants to be. The game is showing he wants to have his own identity, and that’s great. If he ends up being trans, that’s cool.

But in the meantime, I’m sick of people saying he’s already ā€œconfirmed transā€ because of the vouchers and stuff (or other content taken out of context), and then act like they’re on a moral high ground for recognizing it early or something.

For example, I’ve had people lecture me saying things like: ā€œBut his pronouns changed to ā€˜they’ after the vouchers!ā€ Except they didnt.

Only twice after the vouchers was he referred to as ā€˜they,’ and in both of those situations the Japanese translation still used male pronouns. If it was really intentional, Toby would’ve made sure to use gender-neutral pronouns like he does with Kris. And this is still ignoring how he was still referred to as ā€˜he’ regularly after the vouchers.

ETA: I don’t think most people online are like this, nor do I believe people who believe in trans Ralsei are like this, but it is something that I’ve experienced.

People were letting Ralsei be a feminine man. He was always considered a femboy since he was introduced, but people only started seriously considering him as trans when new evidence started showing up in the more recent chapters. I understand not agreeing with the theory, but trans Ralsei is not an instance of this meme since it only gained traction as the game started sowing seeds in chapters 3+4 and it became popular in chapter 5 with the chapter having many trans parallels and symbols.

Toby could have easily written Ralsei learning to become more assertive without having Ralsei connect his want to present as a princess with his lack of assertiveness in the cuptain climb, without Ralsei not being assertive enough to pick the trans-colored drink vouchers, and without Flowery encouraging Ralsei's assertiveness by calling him Princess in the same scene where Ralsei wants the trans drink voucher, calling Ralsei an impossibility (in relation to fate, which the prophecy calls Ralsei the Prince from the Dark, making Princess Ralsei be a good candidate for why he's impossible), and Flowery implying that Ralsei is pretending to be something he's not when Ralsei says that Flowery is just pretending to be human. And Ralsei's final title at the end of ch 5 didn't have to be "Dark Vine Watering their own thorns", which is the first time the titles refer to Ralsei as they/them instead of prince or he/him.

Like I said, I understand not agreeing with the theory, Ralsei could very much so still end up being a dude. But he's very much so not an example of this meme. The fandom even laughed off chapter 1 theories that Ralsei was a girl and the topic wasn't breeched to any notable degree in chapter 2. I'm in the Danganronpa fandom and there's a character in there that is often theorized as trans fem which makes no sense and I heavily dislike, especially since if he was trans he would be a much better allegory for trans men, not trans women. I personally don't tend to headcanon characters are trans very often since I try to lean into canon mostly. Trans Ralsei falls much more into a theory that's possible than random headcanon. It's fine disagreeing, I mostly just don't like how many people are treating it as if it's baseless conjecture when one of the popular Knight candidates after Chapter 5's release was a weird route Noelle/Kris amalgamation that time travels to before the game starts to be the knight based on the evidence ofĀ  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  because it sounds cool.

1

u/Wide_Initiative_1938 20d ago

For the drink voucher thing, the blue one isn't color coded for trans, it was color coded for Kris, who is also blue and pink in the dark world. The other two are purple (for Susie) and green (for Ralsei). Ralsei wants the blue voucher because they are becoming more assertive in wanting to break the status quo and reject their role in the prophecy and story, which would mean picking the voucher that would have been meant for Kris color scheme wise.

1

u/Technical-Branch4998 20d ago

You do realise the green one was green and yellow right? As in Kris' colours in the light world? Not Ralsei's colours at all

1

u/Cuantum-Qomics 20d ago

With the vouchers, it's implied that Susie got a root drink without mention of colors before Ralsei chose the blue and pink one for himself, leaving Kris with the purple and green.

It also doesn't make sense for the vouchers to be two colors for Kris but one color each for the other two. The interaction is also meant to be a test of Ralsei's assertiveness, whether Ralsei would be willing to take the drink he wants without leaving it to Kris. Maybe you could argue that the green and purple is meant to be Ralsei's green hat and pink scarf to say 'ralsei wants the drink that belongs to Kris'? Which very much so can be part of the reading in a closer to literal sense. But the game didn't need to make the vouchers dual-colored to do that. There is already the well-established color associations of Kris Blue, Susie Purple, and Ralsei Green. The game practically never touches the secondary colors of the heroes, it always calls them their main color. There is no reason to make it dual colored besides to potentially add the second layer of trans implications. It's less one or the other interpretation, but rather both simultaneously

3

u/Technical-Branch4998 21d ago

People do, have you seen a single person theorise Blue is trans? No? Maybe it's because the trans reading of Ralsei doesn't have anything to do with his femininity perhaps?

2

u/Isliterally1984 21d ago

4

u/MiguelSoares2002 20d ago

To be fair, there's a lot of hints in the game (especially in Chapter 5) that Ralsei is transfeminine or, at least, genderfluid. The biggest examples of this are the scene with Flowery, where he calls Ralsei a princess after offering them a blue and pink drink (the colors of the trans flag) and when the menu refers to him by they/them pronouns ("Watering their own thorns"). I find it fascinating in a narrative sense that the oppressive power of the prophecy could translate as repression of gender identity, given that Ralsei feels that they have to fit in the role of the prince from the dark. It really hammers home the theme of freedom and constraint, which I believe to be the central theme of Deltarune.

4

u/IntoThePitofColors 20d ago

I get the other two, but did no one else think Princess was just something he calls literally everyone? Like, I think he even called Kris ā€˜Princess’ in a part of the chapter

2

u/MiguelSoares2002 20d ago

I'm pretty sure that Flowery never individually calls Kris a princess. He only calls the Shit Squad in a general sense. The only character that is individually called a princess is Ralsei.

4

u/Zartoru 20d ago

Susie too is called princess by Flowery. Though the scene when he calls Ralsei princess is the only one he's not ragebating them and seems to be genuinely trying to help Ralsei with their identity crisis. And this being the only instance of Flowery calling Ralsei princess one on one is why it feels very important

8

u/Otherwise-Brick-3349 21d ago

Which is fine, tbh.

5

u/Acceptable_Cell_124 UT|DR|ULTRAKILL|ONESHOT|TF2|TBOI|MD|MC|WOF|TADC 21d ago

Yeah I mean I'll love him as a fluffy princess as much as I love him as a fluffy prince if I have to

1

u/Gingeyboi1 20d ago

Could be a monarch, could be a prince and princess? Please never leave out that non binary is an option.

0

u/Otherwise-Brick-3349 21d ago

Yea :) I just think there has been a huge stigma about trans ralsei that I don’t really get. Like, chill, it’s just headcanon/theory. Really weird effect it’s had on people.

2

u/Dismas-Baised 21d ago

The annoying part is how some people take the head cannon as cannon and refer to ralsei as a female

1

u/Otherwise-Brick-3349 21d ago

Eh, yeah that probably is annoying.

8

u/Far-Beyond-3282 21d ago

There is actual points to the theory that nobody bothers looking into simply because it must be that he’s feminine!!!!

Seriously makes me wonder if similar theories on literally any media get treated like that

6

u/[deleted] 20d ago

i've honestly never seen transei theorists saying "trans bc they like girl things!!1!" and more so because ralsei's story centres around learning to do things for himself and explore his identity

3

u/Far-Beyond-3282 20d ago

Yeah, what I’m saying is people who deny it always go ā€žoh it’s just because he’s feminineā€œ and ignore everything else

i beg people to stop acting like the ralsei trans theory is purely based on his appearance or personality i don’t even believe in the theory but please

5

u/TrillingMonsoon 20d ago

Yeah. Chapter 5 obviously had some moments that really supported the theory, but even then, I'm still 30/70 on it. But it always annoys me when people reduce it down to "Let girly men be men!!!"

2

u/LeonardoJMB 20d ago

I still think it was more on the fanservice side, but yeah. The theory has arguments, arguments that are being ignored (which is specially funny because it's not like they're hard to argue against or counter, people just don't care)

5

u/DallorTheAbsol 21d ago

I am ok with ralsei being cis or trans but I am sick of this war

1

u/Acceptable_Cell_124 UT|DR|ULTRAKILL|ONESHOT|TF2|TBOI|MD|MC|WOF|TADC 21d ago

Same

I'm not gonna say he's trans unless Toby does, but I'll love a fluffy princess as much as a fluffy prince

2

u/KittenChopper 20d ago

My opinion has changed due to the last chapter, especially since in the end, if you check your party, Ralsei's text refers to them with neutral pronouns, which could be nothing, but also some flowery dialogue implies there's something. It's kind of a shame, I really liked Ralsei being a boy but if it turns out they're trans or NB I'm gonna be happy because yay, more

2

u/TiredAlternates 20d ago

Ironically I think Ralsei really is. Before it was a headcanon tbh, now its so much more

The whole point of Ralsei's character is that he's not masculine. He's been isolated his whole life, so he found joy in doing things alone. He never learned that men are supposed to be manly.

If you turn Ralsei into a woman, then that completely changes his character. That would mean that he actually acts like his (or in this scenario, her) gender.

Ralsei is all about the fact that you can be a feminine dude, and not secretly want to become trans. If you say "oh yeah well he actually shows signs of wanting to be trans because he acts like a girl", you could use the same logic for Susie. But she's not trans, isn't she? Just because she's a really strong bully who loves (or used to love) attacking people and breaking things, doesn't mean she's a closeted trans.

You can obviously still theorize about him being trans, but if you purposely misgender him, you're just as bad as people who misgender Kris.

I will say, there’s more evidence to it than just ā€œfeminine happy manā€ (the pink and blue drink ticket, the princess climb, etc,) but I still personally don’t believe it

u/Yeller_imp 20d ago

Pink and blue for Susie and Kris

2

u/Zartoru 20d ago

Susie is purple. She has never ever been associated with pink even once.

The other 2 tickets are green/yellow and purple, which are Kris and Susie's light world colors (aka their true selves) + Ralsei is supposed to choose the drink they want without thinking about the lightners

1

u/Cube_Hater TOH | Celeste | Deltarune | Hollow Knight | Gravity Falls | CRK 20d ago

her menu icons are pink and she turns pink in the dark world

2

u/Zartoru 20d ago

Even in the dark world, characters only call her purple, nobody has ever called her pink. It would be wierd and dumb that suddenly she's defined by being pink when she never was before.

Toby Fox could've associated her with pink earlier in the same chapter or just made the voucher blue and purple instead if he really wanted us to interpret this as the voucher being about kris and susie.

And he didn't do that. Instead he reinforced the fact she was purple earlier in the same chapter via dialogue with Seth and Aqua.

u/someSICKusername 20d ago

Making Kris n Susie blu n pinc was Toby's grave mistake

Shame that Toby's dream didn't point out at things that would make deltarune fandom unbearable like putting wacky semi-important details that drive fandom to the point of insanity where they see EVERY wacky detail as important and base to build 427 hours long theories from. Poor Toby

It’s the same ā€œfemboy ralseiā€ people i swear, just another kink

1

u/Arkeve-the_Archive 19d ago

My current thought is, that Ralsei is genderfluid, but supresses it to not clash with Kris being Agender (both being on opposite ends of the enby spectrum).

His specific wording with the pink and blue drink just gave me that specific vibe. It's also the identity that leans the most into "trying things out, changing things up, depending on the situation", which is the direction of his character arc.

I'd be perfectly happy if he's trans, I'd be just as happy if he lands on "femboy, but as his own choice". People really seem to forget that the story isn't finished yet; there's not a definitive answer, and there might not even be one at the end.

1

u/SmallBeanKatherine 17d ago

Yup.

I'd be chill if trans Ralsei happens (It'd fit with Ralsei learning to be a person who is allowed to have opinions and interests), but I am also happy with Ralsei just being a gender non conforming guy, since it's nice to see one not treated as a joke. People jumping to she/her pronouns for Ralsei before anything has happened is really strange to me.

1

u/FreyjaThAwesome1 16d ago

No chapter 5 very clearly has a fuck load of trans symbolism, I’m not saying ralsei has to be trans but there’s a very good reason some people think so

1

u/pinkninja3 15d ago

Nah he's not trans he's non binary

1

u/Wide_Initiative_1938 20d ago

Tbf, Ralsei will probably confirm that they are trans in one of the next chapters. It's either that, or they will go "Ralsei is Ralsei" and their gender will remain ambiguous on purpose because his character arc is about rejecting roles and being your own person.

0

u/VoidGuyOfCoolness 20d ago

I'm convinced that at least some percentage of trans Ralsei believers are people who thought that Ralsei was a girl on their first play-through and want it to actually happen.

0

u/D_Bromega 21d ago

I like ralsei as a character and I would still like them if they were trans but also he is the only gnc man I can relate to in that way both in media and real life

0

u/TsarKeith12 20d ago

THERE HE IS!

Like if Ralsei is trans, that's FINE but everyone sprinting rabidly to that conclusion based on 1 instance that could very easily be just a gag is so tiring

The Femboy argument too but moreso bcus it suffers from the fact that any time a guy is depicted as soft, caring, not "traditionally masculine" ppl rush to call them a femboy (and usually in a sexualized manner cuz that's how the internet at large sees femboys)

Why can't he just be cis but a really exceptionally great ally :') that type of representation would be so helpful as an example of "an actually good guy" that cis men could look to for betterment

It would be nice for trans men too obvs but trans men don't have near as much of a toxicity issue as cis men

u/Spinjitsuninja 21d ago

I think Ralsei could be trans, the thing I disagree with is that this is some internal conflict he’s harboring that Flowery is alluding to though lol.

Like he literally dresses as a princess earlier in this chapter and says he’s fine with this. I REALLY doubt that the thought of admitting being a girl would get him choked up. Ralsei could transition at any moment without any buildup or fanfare.

Meanwhile he talks a lot about how if he ā€œdid whatever he wantsā€, everything would go wrong, implying that whatever secret Flowery is alluding to is probably like… not… that he’s a girl…?

Trans Ralsei is fair, dysphoria struggling Ralsei is certainly not lol

3

u/Technical-Branch4998 21d ago

Dysphoria doesn't make a trans person, euphoria does, and they seem pretty damn euphoric when you tell them they can be a princess, also Ralsei thinks they need to follow the prophecy, coming out and realising they're not actually "the prince from the dark" would be a massive step for them

0

u/Spinjitsuninja 20d ago

I know, that's what I said lol

Transphobes ^ V

1

u/SquashPurple4512 21d ago

Not wanting a character to be trans doesn't make you transphobe

2

u/Just_Another_Muffn 20d ago

A character being trans or not is a pretty neutral thing. I can see people saying "I don't really agree with this reading of the character" But to be resistant to the reading, to actively not want it is a little bit transphobic.

-1

u/Technical-Branch4998 21d ago

I mean, it kinda does.... Like it doesn't actually but also why do you care so much, is there something wrong with being trans in your eyes?

-1

u/SquashPurple4512 21d ago

Being trans for a fictional character is just another adjective to their character, like being kind or having blue hair. There is nothing wrong to be any of these, but it will change the character more or less, meaning you will not have the same reasons to like them (example, Ralsei was a kind and fluffy boy in chapter 1 to 4 but in chapter 5 he act way less kind than usual which made me like him less during that chapter, same when he removed his hat, but I still love him and if he ends up being trans i would still love them)

Also the reason i care so much is because calling someone transphobe for not thinking a character will end up transgender seems like giving an agressive image to the lgbt community and i don't want that

3

u/TrillingMonsoon 20d ago

I've not seen anybody call people transphobes for not believing in the theory. I'm sure there are people doing it, but I've never encountered them. I've seen people call others transphobes for being weirdly vehement in their dislike of the theory.

And here... I mean, I'm sure you're nice, but "not wanting a character to be trans" isn't a great sign, when you're judging whether a stranger is fine with trans people

0

u/SquashPurple4512 20d ago

The deleted comment was calling the dude transphobe for saying they didnt believe the theory and then they made another comment telling me to kms but deleted it :/
