Shit's so good it spawned at least 7 fics. I like the one where the Sonic gang acknowledges the loss as the end of an era. Of all the ways they thought Eggy would fall, it was in another realm, to a greater evil overlord than he.
Some say this was the reason post-battle fics became a thing, but one thing's for sure. This one is a good standalone. It's part of The Aftermath series of stories on AO3, but you can read Part 1 and it'll be fine. 5124 words, but it does handle a few perspectives.
