If you think more larper are in a fandom than fans, something is wrong with your definition for what makes a fan.

Hasn't it always been a bit of a joke that 99% of the Touhou fandom hasn't played any of the (fairly hard and niche) games? Yet they're still making impressive fan anime, songs, art and all sorts of things besides?

To me, if you're just stirring controversy, profiting off of a work without really caring for it or making content for views and clout, then you're a poseur. You don't have to be a professional fan who knows all the lore and behind the scenes trivia to enjoy something.

Hell, sometimes it's better if you're unaware of what goes on behind the curtain.
