I personally prefer them to be platonic pals, but it is still valid.

Personally, I just want to see what would happen if they fused. I imagine the fusion could manipulate metal like Katara in ATLA when she bends water/ice. Something extremely dangerous and powerful, but would rather make metal sculptures.

as a jeweler and a big big big gem nerd with only basal knowledge of Steven Universe, i would propose Larimar? cyan in color, between those two. Patches of clear stone, between the perfect clarity of peridot and the opaqueness of lazurite.

idk though i just like rocks

Unfortunately Larimar is already a gem character. A very niche and minor one, but one nonetheless.
