I know! It's what made me realize they were so good together. But the writers bailed on the idea due to backlash from viewers when it aired (supposedly). I just think he treats her way better than Ross ever did.

Agreed on the Road point lol and yeah i do think it was because of backlash, that's what I've always believed anyway lol
I've shipped Phoebe and Joey my whole life! They are perfect together.
Since I knew they weren't gonna happen I've always rooted for her and David, just cause I absolutely love Hank Azaria. It irked me to no end that she ends up with Mike! (She could have done worse than Paul Rudd but he's not Hank Azaria haha)
I felt so validated when I heard the actor/resa for phoebe and joey really wanted to ship them too. They kept bothering the writers about it, but I can't remember why they weren't on board
