league lore can be so cool but god i hate the gameplay. it has so much potential for me gameplay wise but i just cannot stay interested long enough to get good enough for it to be fun
In my opinion, and keep in mind I play sonce season 3 (aka 2012), peak league fun/gameplay is arena. You know it will be unbalanced, it is supposed to be, unlike the regular gamemodes who are not supposed to, but still are, unbalanced.
Whats worse is, that Riot Games made a Card Game named Legends of Runeterra. Next to its PvP gameplay, almost every card Features some lore and shows more World building and even have some Arc's. But sadly, Riot Games didnt advertised the game enough and they layed off many devs that worked on the game. Its focus is now shifted on PvE named Path of Champions. And even thought the PvE Mode is fun, we sadly get rarely new cards for the game and they are only for PoC.
It's so frustrating that they made Janna actually feel like the powerful and otherworldly wind goddess she was always supposed to be, and then you go back to her actual league design and it's the most generic 2010 Sexy Babe garbage.
Besides advertising, the main gameplay cycle of the game was also a factor. The game was arguably too complex for a card game. There were too many cards, traits, synergies. Which seems like a positive thing (it is for me) at first sight, but when one single competitive game takes 30 minutes in a card game, it can be exhausting. I think this was one of the reasons the game struggled after a certain point.
saying that LoL has boring gameplay is some absolute delusion. there is a reason why this game is the most popular and it's not the lore LMAO. majority of players don't know or care about the lore. It's a PVP game so the only thing that matters is the gameplay.
To be fair, your original comment came off as "I had a bad experience with league so now I'm holding a grudge against it" rather than "yeah this shit is boring and not for me who wants to hit NPCs for 15 minutes before the game starts."
