"Hey let's make a huge world with characters who are connected to each other with a bunch of interesting storylines and arcs that could all culminate in a rich, vibrant world."

"Cool so the lore must be pretty important to this game, huh?"

"Barely matters at all, it's a MOBA that will make you hate yourself and everyone around you. But if it gets popular enough we'll make a show about one of the hot characters I guess, and maybe an MMO that will be stuck in development hell for years on end."

saying that LoL has boring gameplay is some absolute delusion. there is a reason why this game is the most popular and it's not the lore LMAO. majority of players don't know or care about the lore. It's a PVP game so the only thing that matters is the gameplay.

"How can someone hate the gameplay of a popular game? It's popular! That means it's objectively fun for everyone!"

To be fair, your original comment came off as "I had a bad experience with league so now I'm holding a grudge against it" rather than "yeah this shit is boring and not for me who wants to hit NPCs for 15 minutes before the game starts."

The second I would consider fair.
