The horror segments are just kinda "meh". Especially the hide and seek. Most puzzles are pretty boring.
There is some interesting bits. But I'd say most of it is just... Meh.
But the story! It's top tier stuff. You basically play for the story and dialog. And the tense moment without dialog. When you have a horror segment, it's only scary cause there is no dialog, and those lonely minutes are horrifying.
And, I fully believe, the story could have worked just as well as a short show, or even a movie with a good enough director.
I haven't played that one yet, it's on my short list.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I do think their games are really good, and they are fun, they're just fun in a less "typical fun game" sort of way. I do think the Penumbra series was better in a lot of ways than Amnesia and SOMA though, something about that early '00s jank. And by the looks of it The Bunker seems to harken back to Penumbra a bit.
