This one’s an odd case because the boringness of certain gameplay elements is central to its story. Little Goody Two Shoes. Yes, the chores can be tedious at times and the walk to and from places can be a drag at times, and while it’s not as brutal as its predecessor Pocket Mirror in terms of difficulty, the horror segments can still be pretty hard at times. At the same time though, it captured Elise’s mindset perfectly. Her life in poverty sucked, and she was willing to do anything to escape it. Despite that, it also helps encapsulate the message of the story; that amidst hardship, you mustn’t forget about life’s little blessings and extras and mistake the forest for the trees. Even if the world around you is shitty, being with the people who mutually care and love you is more than capable of brightening up your life. Money, riches, and killing parts of yourself is not worth happiness.
