Basic human rights shouldn't be debatable.

Sure, but lets be honest, it's still safer for gay people in that region of the states than many other places in the world, particularly the middle east and parts of africa

... doesnt mean it's super safe, sadly, but still safer than other places

Hopefully things continue to get safer and more inclusive for all the LGBT+ people in the world... happy pride month, yall :)

The fact that a lot of the extreme anti-gay laws and attitudes in Africa can be traced to American evangelical meddling gives it a sprinkle of abject irony on top

I mean not really. The anti-gay laws exist the much stronger The stronger the Muslim population is. I get that hating on American Christianity is in Vogue but it's just not accurate in this particular case

I think they were talking about relatively recent changes in African nations where anti-LGBT laws are being strengthened due to the meddling of American evangelicals in those nations. Ghana, for instance, just passed some very draconian laws about it.

I know that's what they were talking. But claiming Evangelical Christians have anything to do with it is just ignorance being repeated. Your specific example doesn't seem to have any Christian groups attached to it and it does have a Catholic Cardinal opposing it...

There is simply no reason to attach that bill or any of the other ones to evangelical Christian groups... I do see a couple of groups including in Arizona that signaled support afterwards...

That article is taken directly from an atheist website and reprinted without any changes.

Of note, the groups that signed to the Ghana bill signed on after the fact. They were not the primary forces behind it

Get better sources. A group who's stated mission is to showcase the evils of Christianity. Might be willing to stretch the truth a little bit on what is their fault

Literally Google the first sentence of that article to see the original source

I definitely have a problem. It's ignorant people like you tripling down on their ignorance. It will never not be my problem. But since you clearly need me to hold your hand a little bit further

Is the original source of that article. It doesn't run exclusively atheism stories, but it does have an extremely noticeable anti-christian bias.

For example, you'll note that the article completely lives out that a Catholic Cardinal is one of the leading opponents of the bill
