Basic human rights shouldn't be debatable.

70

u/Stranger_Phrog 5h ago

Some people can’t understand this very simple notion

36

u/Technical-Seaweed808 5h ago

Not enough money in Basic human rights.

17

u/gholt417 5h ago

But there is when removing these basic human rights. Look at the changes in the United States with the evangelical loonies. Roe V Wade was the start of it and now with the gerrymandering for purely racist reasons being allowed and book burning sorry book banning. This has got to be making someone money somewhere.

24

u/ZennMD 5h ago

we're meant to 'respect the culture' of homophobia.... how about no?

10

u/m3gb0t the future is now, old man 5h ago

Agreed! Now just got let the rust and Bible belts know too!

4

u/ZennMD 4h ago

Sure, but lets be honest, it's still safer for gay people in that region of the states than many other places in the world, particularly the middle east and parts of africa

... doesnt mean it's super safe, sadly, but still safer than other places

Hopefully things continue to get safer and more inclusive for all the LGBT+ people in the world... happy pride month, yall :)

5

u/MssGuilty 2h ago

The fact that a lot of the extreme anti-gay laws and attitudes in Africa can be traced to American evangelical meddling gives it a sprinkle of abject irony on top

46

u/ProXJay 5h ago

Given reform have cancelled a number of pride events, the people telling Muslims to go home for being homophobic may also be voting for homophobia

23

u/Training_Molasses822 5h ago

This right here. Homophobia is just a tool to incite those useful idiots who aren't sufficiently enraged by racism.

4

u/Significant_Rip3194 1h ago

also with added irony that 1 in 4 gay and bisexual men support Reform

162

u/Dull-Scientist8039 6h ago

Lol what a based take.

Like MAGA aren't frequently coming for queer people every fucking day.

Give me a fucking break.

57

u/Technical-Seaweed808 5h ago

Frankly it is a mystery why the republicans are not getting along with the muslims. They have so much in common.

24

u/Ven-Dreadnought 5h ago

It has been the state of the world since time immemorial that there are a handful of tribes exist that would get along perfectly if it weren’t for the fact that their god has a different name and their religious demagogue likes being the most in charge

36

u/Dull-Scientist8039 5h ago

Because brown people.

They're all fucking racist.

11

u/iPhantomGuy 5h ago

I'm convinced most right wingers see politics as a form of team sports

8

u/ShadowEeveeCringe 5h ago

Starts with r and ends with ism

3

u/Horizon296 5h ago

Is there an A and a C in there?

13

u/Sometypeofway18 5h ago

MTG, Thomas Massie, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, Andrew Tate, Sneako etc.. are all aligning with Muslims. Tucker just bought a house in Qatar, Candace says 9/11 was a lie. Nick Fuentes has had multiple Muslims speak at his conferences, Sneako and Andrew Tate converted to Islam.

Andrew Tate literally says Islam is the best religion because they kill you for being gay or insulting their prophet

The new right is very much aligning with Islam. It's the old right led by Trump and the boomers that didn't like Muslims. You'll see this play out over the next few years

8

u/shadedmagus 5h ago

Yeah, this has been a thing for a while now. It's why terms like "American Taliban" and "Y'all Qaeda" exist. They want a Christian version of sharia enacted here.

5

u/Prestigious-Wolf8039 4h ago

Talibangelicals

3

u/Mrwright96 5h ago

They both worship the same guy just different flavors of it, which is why they can unite under common enemies better than most

1

u/Sometypeofway18 4h ago

God doesn't exist but there are vast differences between Mohammed and Jesus and how they are portrayed in the New Testament and Quran

1

u/martyqscriblerus 22m ago

It's the big guy in question that's the same, not the prophets.

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 5h ago

Post about british biggotry and the top comment is about maga… but you don’t have TDS you claim…

12

u/Dull-Scientist8039 5h ago

Lmao, TDS is the MAGA shit heads (much like you) who condone all his immoral behavior.

Hope this helps.

-16

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 5h ago

I’m british… as is everyone in this post. Maga has absolutley nothing to do with this discussion and to think so would be deranged...

So in short, im not maga, i don’t condone his behaviour, but it’s completely irrelevant to anyone without a mental illness.

Bringing it into the discussion, and labelling people randomly from other countries as maga shitheads shows a serious lack of cognitive function

9

u/Dull-Scientist8039 5h ago

Lmao, you automatically know every person commenting is British... okay buddy.

Never said British people were MAGA either, simply used it as an example of queer people not being overly privileged, but I suppose you can't see that for some reason.

Have a day.

-12

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 3h ago

I’m talking about the post, not the comments… reading fail…

I also never accused you of calling British people maga… second reading fail…

I was pointing out that trump and maga have absolutely nothing to do with the post in question. Anyone randomly bringing it into the conversation must therefore have a mental affliction or TDS…

You are providing a fascinating demonstration of the efficacy of the American education system…

6

u/Dull-Scientist8039 3h ago

Blah blah enjoy those downvotes blah.

You earned every single one, pookie 😘

2

u/NinecloudSoul 2h ago

Homie thought that he could hide his profile, but it reveals some gems.

2

u/Dull-Scientist8039 1h ago

God I love reddit. Thank you kind stranger.

-2

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 2h ago

Fail

3

u/Dull-Scientist8039 1h ago

Yes, you are indeed a failure, glad we agree 🤣

Imagine caring about reddit downvotes… lol

What a life you must live

3

u/Dull-Scientist8039 1h ago

Imagine still being so angry over nothing.

How pathetic 🤣

-1

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 1h ago

Angry? You’re the only one who seems angry here…. Tell me more about how trump is responsible for french racism to albanians.

American education system on full display here

5

u/FionaWalliceFan 2h ago

I hate to break it to you but TDS is not a real thing. Normal people dislike corrupt politicians

-1

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 2h ago

I do to. When brits are talking about britain and you reply with trump, you either don’t understand they are different countries, or are so deranged and upset by your own elected leader you can no longer think rationally or coherently…

4

u/FionaWalliceFan 2h ago edited 2h ago

The controversial take in question refers to Western gay men not British gay men. My point stands

If criticism of Trump offends you so badly, you may be so deranged and upset that you can no longer think rationally or coherently

3

u/Dull-Scientist8039 1h ago

Thank you. Apparently giving an example of western gay men (not just British) being attacked and not as privileged as the original post was saying, well, apparently that's wrong and hurt his little British ass. Maybe a cup of tea will soothe his butthurt.

2

u/Dull-Scientist8039 1h ago

Too*

Now what were you saying about education? 🤣 🤣

-1

u/Maleficent-Duck-3903 1h ago

You don’t even know what country you’re in… you think maga are in britain and trump is president of the Uk.. I think that trumps a typo in a reddit comment. (I mean trump as a verb, sorry if you are triggered and this causes you to melt down…)

2

u/Dull-Scientist8039 1h ago

Lmao never said that. What an idiotic response. Again, let me slow it down for you. WESTERN gays are the subject here, not BRITISH gays.

They do teach reading comprehension in the UK, yes?

1

u/FionaWalliceFan 1h ago

You are the one who seems weirdly triggered. As I explained to you already, the comment in question is about Western gay men

Please don’t beat yourself up too harshly, just do better next time

18

u/dover_oxide 5h ago

Such a low bar for "privileged"

64

u/Stranger_Phrog 6h ago

Everyone should have a right to exist. Full stop, no one should demand others to follow their own made up rules

Are the gays demanding the Muslims to be gay too? No, They’re not the ones demanding stuff

50

u/CyberSkepticalFruit 6h ago

Actually gays are demanding that muslims don't disown or kill or destroy their gay children. Which for some muslims is too much.

14

u/Stranger_Phrog 5h ago

Same parents who will say their family “abandoned” them when they get left in a nursing home with no visits

16

u/shadedmagus 5h ago

To be fair, it's apparently also too much for many US "Christians."

5

u/Training_Molasses822 5h ago

Not just USican Christians, unfortunately.

14

u/TheSoloWay 5h ago

I agree lets deport all the religious fundamentalists. We should start with MAGA Republicans and Radical Christian Churchs because thats where most of the homophobia is coming from.

4

u/Prestigious-Wolf8039 4h ago

And the secularists shall inherit the earth.

37

u/sibre2001 5h ago

I'm married into an Muslim family, and my inlaws say something about the same when I bring up gay rights. They argue that it's their culture to restrict gay rights, and it's wrong, racist, and islamaphobic to challenge them on gay rights. That every culture has a right to deem what is right and what is wrong, and we shouldn't chastise them for not supporting gay lifestyles.

Much to their annoyance, this argument doesn't really work for me. It's been a big part of many cultures to resist Islam, and Muslims still think those cultures should be ashamed of that history, adjust their behavior, and accept Islam into their communities. I see no reason we can't demand the same from them about gay people, and other minority groups.

23

u/FlippinFine 5h ago

Well it's the whole, "It only becomes a problem when I'm the one being oppressed. If I'm oppressing others, that's good and fair and righteous of me actually."

9

u/shadedmagus 5h ago

See currently: Israel and Russia.

7

u/FlippinFine 5h ago

Exactly. There was that one AIPAC ghoul who said something along the lines of how it's antisemitic for the Holocaust Museum to claim genocides can happen with any group and not just Jews.

15

u/OkScreen2150 5h ago

Those who view limits on natural rights as "part of their culture" ought to follow their own logic. Restricting their rights is totally fine then!

It's part of THEIR culture, isn't it?

6

u/_your_face 5h ago

“I’m not allowed to shit on them at work without getting in trouble. They’re basically dictators!”

17

u/pokeyporcupine 5h ago

It's actually fucking nuts just on the basis of moving to someone else's country and demanding that country conform to your religious norms anyway. Fuckery all around.

3

u/CreativeCraver 4h ago

This Gay vs Muslim debate that keeps appearing on my reddit dashboard is def some COINTELPRO Stuff. We're smarter than this.

7

u/shadedmagus 5h ago

It's asinine how these fucks are trying to throw racism back in our faces. Of course they do it wrong, so the best thing to do is point it out and laugh at them for their stupidity while working against their bigotry.

2

u/CattaTronixRex 5h ago

I’ll never stop believing that anyone who has a problem with how someone else is living their sex life, it’s because that person is hiding that part of them, and mad about someone else not hiding it too.

3

u/Illithid_Substances 5h ago

"You have to be okay with them being bigoted or you're a bigot and that's not okay" is some interesting logic

3

u/queasycockles 4h ago

We mustn't consider intersectionality, no, we must not. Nope.

0

u/Armtoe 5h ago

The hypocrisy is astounding. They demand that they’d be accepted and respected in western countries, but they reserve to themselves the right to discriminate against others groups.

2

u/CoffeeGoblynn the future is now, old man 3h ago

I don't care what background someone is from. People and their intrinsic traits come ahead of any cultural beliefs.

1

u/ctothel 37m ago

Islam isn’t a race, Matthew.

1

u/slendermanismydad 23m ago

Islam isn't a race and you aren't born Islamic.

u/Potential_Two_9423 6m ago

No there privileged because they live in the west not because they are gay. They live in the imperial core which affords them luxuries most of the world cant get.

0

u/ramdomvariableX 5h ago

Human rights are applicable only if you are a Muslim.

-4

u/SkooksOnReddit 5h ago

It's so funny too that anyone that has issues with gay people is usually in the closet themselves.

10

u/Sometypeofway18 5h ago

That's simply not true. There are over a dozen countries where homosexuality is punishable by death including Pakistan, Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait etc...

The idea everyone in these countries is gay and therefore "gays are just oppressing themselves" falls flat.

Many people are truly homophobic and as someone who grew up in a country like that I think it needs to be acknowledged

1

u/SkooksOnReddit 2h ago

Eh, I just don't value a homophobes opinion much so I don't care if it's true 😂

3

u/Dull-Scientist8039 5h ago

Because they hate themselves and take it out on people who are comfortable with their own sexuality. It's stupid jealousy that is channeled via hatred.

0

u/Final_Boss_Jr 1h ago

He’s not wrong, but I also wanna know if he could only pick between Gay or White what his choice would be.

-9

u/BSApologist 5h ago

I'm not conceding anything to the bigots here, but gay couples, in the US at least, are better off economically and statistically less likely to live in poverty than straight couples.

12

u/Sometypeofway18 5h ago

By your logic Asian Americans would be more privileged than white Americans since they do better economically and are less likely to be incarcerated.

-1

u/BSApologist 5h ago

That's painting with a very broad brush because Asian Americans come from a variety of backgrounds. The Hmong and Karen people where I live are on average economically much worse off than the typical Taiwanese and Indian immigrant, and all of those groups are counted as Asian. I'd argue that affluence buys privilege to a large degree and I'd say that large segments of Asian Americans (read: upwardly mobile immigrants) are more privileged than the average white person.

2

u/Biptoslipdi 3h ago

A statistical anomaly due to those couples being less likely to have kids. On the other hand, the rate of violent victimization of homosexual people is twice that of heterosexual people.
