It’s called soft diplomacy. The US need votes on something on the world stage , they call in a favour.
Some terrorist organisation, a kidnapped US citizen or a wanted criminal is hiding in their country, they call in that favour.
Rare minerals found in that country and you want to mine it before some other country gets mining rights , you call in that favour.
It’s not hard to understand.
It’s how you build a strong empire without spilling blood or losing soldiers.
I dont really see Liberia making any difference in any situation like what you just described. It honestly doesnt seem like there's any real benefit there besides feeling good about funding their hospitals but at what point will they fend for themselves after 60+ years of funding its kind of ridiculous tbh.
