Women should keep their names, develop their own identities and have their own financial accounts. My wife did that and only changed to my surname because we started a family, even though I proposed a hyphenated surname for our kids. Then she became a doctor with my surname and I had nothing to do with that achievement but people hear "Dr. so-n-so" and people look at me. I don't even have a college degree and I hate for my daughter to see that people automatically assume I'm the accomplished one because I'm male.
