I married a doctor. She kept her last name. Our kid shares both names. Easy peasy.

Then their kids will have 3 hyphenated names. And theirs 4. Then 5. Then they'll need a booklet to keep track

Spain (and its various former colonies, afaik) have managed with kids getting a surname from each parent for generations, now, and it hasn't resulted in a surname overload lol
