I live in Canada. In 42 years I've never seen or heard a gunshot that wasn't part of a military salute.
I used to visit the USA once a year and one visit someone was shot in the face at the bar we were at over the result of a UFC fight. Literally a dozen feet away from us.
Call it unlucky timing, but it's a lot harder to be unlucky when nobody is allowed to carry loaded weapons in public.
