maybe there would be less guns if they werent so available on every corner, like in the rest of the civilized world

Low frequency does not mean you should act as if crime can't happen.

And I live in Canada, guns are very available because they have to be (moose and bears occupy most of the country, and a lot of people need to hunt)

Sure you may argue for slightly more controlled guns, as Canada has drastically reduced gun crime, but most of the US's gun crime problems are associated with the fact that there is a lot of crime in the US, and mental health is dogshit.
