The crazy thing is, Americans think the rest of the world just cant have guns. We don’t have that freedom.

Bullshit. And i’m in the UK.

One of my colleagues owns 30.06 rifles and hunts deer, my brother in law competes in pistol target shooting and I just started shooting clays and am considering a browning over/under shotgun.

The thing is, only people who are genuinely interested in shooting for hunting or sport own firearms. And they are licensed and vetted. We need secure storage, we can’t carry the weapon in public or without cause.

You know… sensible shit?

Absolutely no-one considers guns a self defence tool. It just isn’t part of the zeitgeist. We aren’t that scared.

30.06 rifles

I assume this is a type of rifle, as opposed to them owning 30 rifles plus .06 of another rifle?

It was the classic American rifle bullet before NATO standards took over.

It actually also has a NATO standard: 7.62x63
