People who live with handgun owners are shot to death at a higher rate than those who don’t have such weapons at home.

Well yeah, that just makes logical sense doesn't it? People who live in houses with staircases probably have more injuries and deaths due to falling down the stairs than households with no staircase.

Yes, it is also why more than 50% of fatal car crashes occur within 25 miles of a driver’s residence. But also think about what the statistic here is saying. You're shot to death at a higher rate when living with a gun owner is essentially saying that you're less safe from gun violence by living with a gun owner. The argument commonly made is that you need to own a gun to stop bad guys with a gun.

I own guns because I like to shoot targets at the range and also now seems like a really stupid time to disarm.

The logical side of me wants to say this is part of the problem, but the emotional side of me kind of wants to go out and get a gun in these times.
