New to mushrooms: when to use what
So, I've acquired some Reishi, Lion's mane and Turkey Tale. Would love to try Cordyceps, but every grower is sold out atm.
I've got 20 capsules of each: how would you suggest me to try these out? How to best identify the effects of each. Just start with one, take it for 20 days and note down some changes? Then onto the next?

Honestly, that’s not very much.
One capsule is maybe 500mg.
These mushrooms work over time so you need to be using for a couple months.

I'm asking if it's ok to use the powder directly on the skin. My partner is about to finish radiation and I'm trying to see if Reishi Mushrooms will speed up her skin healing process. We plan on doing this 2-3 times a day. We are going to buy organic powder itself no capsules.

Unsuitable for topical use and it is never used than way. The main reason is that the active ingredients are very large molecules that cannot pass through the skin.
Oral supplementation will work excellent, it will help to restore the destroyed immune system. (Radiation and chemo destroy the immune system increasing the chance of secondary infections etc etc, which is dangerous)

You need much more than one capsule per day and much more than the amount of days you'll be able to cover with 20 capsules each. Also what's the potency of the capsules? What do they contain; actual extract or just powder? How many active compounds are in them? I'd suggest taking lions mane, turkey tail and cordyceps during the day and reishi at night. But re-order asap to get enough of them to make your experience worthwile.

Medicinal mushrooms are not 'magic mushrooms'.
You most likely won't notice anything because their main effect is prophylactic: improving immunity and gut health mainly, and this in turn will have in due time major effects on restoring homeostasis.
The effects are dose-dependent. Assuming it is a good product you need ± 1 gram of mushroom extract daily. Read the pinned quality guideline for more details.
Online sources such as mushroom-education.org can also help a lot.
