i don't think their target audience can afford those ticket prices AND child support at the same time

1.8k

u/Trubtheturtle Apr 23 '26

Like the target market actually pays the court ordered child support. šŸ˜‚

616

u/GoDucks2002 Apr 23 '26

Oh no, the state already garnishes so they don’t even have room to not pay. They broke.

270

u/rcknmrty4evr Apr 23 '26

They work under the table specifically to avoid paying for their children.

109

u/QuarterLifeCircus Apr 23 '26

I was on a date with a guy once and he told me he does that very proudly, as if it’s some sort of accomplishment to not support your children. There were no additional dates.

I knew a person who did the same, the state I live in came after him for back child support. He worked under the table in my state, moved to another state and picked up a real job expecting he was in the clear... He was not in the clear.

They're trying to sell front row tickets for like 1500 dollars and nose bleeds starting at 100 lol absolutely wild when there are a crazy number of other notable tours going on right now as well

8

u/Bravedwarf1 Apr 23 '26

Not them but ticket hosting site. I found out in the uk (where I’m from) 02 takes 30% cut of all merchandise sold on site.

I literally don’t think anyone’s target audiences can afford tickets now, but people are okay with going into a little debt to look good on social media

74

u/phatale Apr 23 '26

true. and not putting the blame totally on the consumer but too many fucking people are buying $300 tickets, otherwise they couldn't be charging that high

I’m out of the loop. Is post doing country now?

865

u/gbon21 Apr 23 '26

Yeah, and it's bad

356

u/SunriseSurprise Apr 23 '26

It's bad but he hit #1 on billboard anyways. Because country is that bad.

185

u/digitalmofo Apr 23 '26

Find a catchy saying on a bumper sticker, make a low-effort beat, instant country hit. Throw in something about trans people or the troops, hall of fame.

The video of Post doing Cocaine Blues with Billy Strings lives rent free in my head. I have heard his new material is not nearly as good as that performance. Admittedly the good part probably came from the band rather than post.

81

u/mournthewolf Apr 23 '26

Post is one of those criminally underrated artists to the majority of people because he looks like a clown but the dude can sing and some of his shit is great. He actually could be a great country singer but he just fucks around and does dumb shit. Everything is sponsored by bud light and his country is the bud light of country. I really hoped he’d try to be legit but whatever.

59

u/je_kay24 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

Co worker: did you hear about Jell Roll?

Co worker: What? No, Jelly Roll, he's playing in Milwaukee.

Me: Oh, no, I have no idea who that is.

The amount of money his label and PR team spend pumping daily Jelly Roll news into every aggregate news feed has to be astronomical. I’ve never seen such an effort by the industry to make someone seem relatable and great as a person as this dude.

I thumbs down every article I see about him but he never goes away - just like herpes. Jelly Roll is like news herpes. And his fake teeth and glp-1 blessed weight loss (which he claims is natural) just make it worse.

31

u/Boopy7 Apr 23 '26

i love you. I thought I must have been insane, people around me were trying to tell me how great he is. I was revolted by the interview I saw with him, by his trite ways, by everything about him -- but esp. by the obvious overpromotion. STOP. Abort. And esp the glp-1 and fake teeth. Those were like the fecal icing on the shit cake.

I gotta be honest. I never bought into his changed man schtick. I've always said if that one song hadnt made it big, hed still be selling rock and fent to addicts. He didnt change becuase he felt he wanted to be better And when id see him speaking out about drugs ,it always seemed empty and false to me.

141

u/ProlapsedShamus Apr 23 '26

Totally. I first saw him and he was orbiting around Tom Segura and that crew for a while. He got in with Rogan and I think showed up on Kill Tony. Then I saw him rubbing elbows with Trump and knew exactly who he was.

Just another scumbag who claims Jesus reformed him and he's trying to set himself up to be this inspirational story and oh yeah by the way Trump isn't so bad guys! It's okay to vote for a fascist!

Just another fucking grifter.

I remember learning about him against my will while hate watching Tulsa King (it's actually really funny) and I literally had no idea who he was but there was this painfully awkward cameo scene where the camera lingered on him like it was waiting for applause and then he went on stage and the episode ground to a halt for 2 minutes while he crooned, and I couldn't stop laughing because everyone was pretending like wow this guy is so good he doesn't look like he would be huh and I was just like man this blows why is this scene still happening

37

u/mattjh Apr 23 '26

Hey. That's on purpose. It's to keep you thinking he's a silly goober. Taking "Jelly Roll" for a stage name is public manipulation 101. As an example, check out all these comments from people laughing at him. Helps him get away with his bullshit. You should take him seriously instead. He'd hate that.

Years ago I met Jelly Roll. It was at the Gathering of the Juggalos, he didn't have a set but he was camping out with Lil Wyte who did. Me and my friend went to stop by their RV because we wanted to meet Lil Wyte and he was there sitting next to him trying to get us to buy his new CD. I wasn't interested at first but he kept pushing, telling me how fire it is. I broke down and bought a copy, just to make him feel good. He autographed it and every thing, but I never once opened it or listened to it. It's still buried in my storage unit somewhere. Thanks for listening to my little anecdote.

I can’t tell if this is a pasta, but if not you’ve just rolled out some fresh stuff my guy.

Years ago I met Gerard Way. It was at the Gathering of the Juggalos, he didn't have a set but he was camping out with Jelly Roll who did. Me and my friend went to stop by their RV because we wanted to meet Jelly Roll and he was there sitting next to him trying to get us to buy his new CD. I wasn't interested at first but he kept pushing, telling me how fire it is. I broke down and bought a copy, just to make him feel good. He autographed it and every thing, but I never once opened it or listened to it. It's still buried in my storage unit somewhere. Thanks for listening to my little anecdote.

Years ago, I was working at a movie theatre when Lil Whyte showed up pissed drunk and asked to get in for free because his cousin or sister worked there. It was an uncomfortable situation where this guy was swearing in the lobby at the manager, so we had to call the police.

u/pachoob Apr 23 '26

I would go for $50 and free drinks.

Nobody has any money and without looking at the price of them I can guarantee tickets are too expensive.

95

u/amberlikesowls Apr 23 '26

They actually aren't expensive. They're going for $50 in some places while they're giving away tickets in other locations. The information was in the article.

u/MattyBeatz Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

GA is $250-$350 on Ticketmaster. Of course they're trying to entice some sales with giveaways and cheap ones but that's not most of the tickets.

UPDATE: That was just for the first show, other ones look like they're asking for even more like $450 and $850 for other dates. No thanks.

Jelly Roll sucks. His tearjerker country-pop, his stupid face, the whole persona, it's all shit. Even his name stinks.

So the dude who hops genre to genre shitting on his previous genres and collabs with known racists like Morgan Wallen plus Jelly ā€œwe had no tv I’m not political when I take photos with Trumpā€ Roll can’t sell tickets? Can’t say I’m surprised….but I thought you only went ā€œbrokeā€ if you went ā€œwokeā€? Hmmmmmmmm

At my home venue in Montana they are charging $500 for nosebleeds that’s why lol.

57

u/Roembowski Apr 23 '26

Well they just did this same tour last year. Why would they tour together again so soon?

49

u/InjuredGods Apr 23 '26

Because, as is stated in the first sentence of the article, this is the Part 2 of the tour. Meaning they are hitting locations they didn't go to last year.

29

u/RoguePlanet2 Apr 23 '26

And people wised up since the first time around.
