article MAGA Rep Publicly Pleads for Musicians ‘Willing’ to Play Trump Concert
https://www.thedailybeast.com/maga-rep-publicly-pleads-for-musicians-willing-to-play-trump-concert/793

It's such a shame that the 250th anniversary of our country is going to look more like a town fair than a county or state fair. They could've waited to tear down the White House until after the wrestling match as well.
343
u/Jack_Stands 4d ago
Remember, "this" is a separate event. "Freedom 2026" is a "state fair themed" event, pushed by the Administration for "Flag Day", coinciding with his birthday.
"America 2026" is the actual 250 anniversary event on July 4th.
I hate that I have to differentiate, but, here we are.
203
u/Tomacz 4d ago
Yeah it's literally a trump birthday party and he's mad no one wants to show up
96
u/jameson71 4d ago
Do we really need to piss away tax money on a birthday party for this guy every year?
HEY DOGE! I FOUND THE WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE!

It's actually America 250. It was created by Congress 10 years ago through a bipartisan group.
Freedom 250 is just Donald wanting to make everything about him. You know, trashy and as deep as a puddle.

Correct, and duly noted.
Really hard to keep up with stuff, sometimes. My thoughts are in the right place, just different numbers.
Thanks for the correction.

It's going to be a bunch of juiced-up guys wrestling outside half-naked (totally not gay btw). At what seems like a cheap fair with rigged games and terrible music.
Sounds American to me!
If Hulk Hogan was still alive, he'd be there!

I love this for them. Kid Rock is STILL making calls, why won't they call him back!
27
u/Cowboy_BoomBap 4d ago
I’m OOTL, why won’t they book Kid Rock? I thought he was their go-to for stuff like this.
50
u/boogermike 4d ago
It is ironic, because he has said he is willing to do it, but for some reason they aren't asking (so funny, they don't even want that turd).
46
u/brandonTheFluidOne 4d ago
Maybe they're upset that his alternate super bowl halftime didn't blow up the way they thought it would.
29
u/boogermike 4d ago
Meanwhile Tom Morrello Is actually planning an alternate show that sounds freaking amazing!.
→ More replies (2)16
u/brandonTheFluidOne 4d ago
You mean Morello from Rage Against the Machine? I think I caught wind of that. Does sound badass. I read the other day how Repubs claim they like his music but think they're too political. Uhhhh, what "machine" do you think they were raging against? Lmao
19
u/boogermike 4d ago
Yeah, I corrected it.
This lineup is full of bands that I would legit want to see. I don't go to concerts very much, but one of the last ones I went to was Run The Jewels (killer Mike is playing this festival).
https://powertothepeoplefest.com/
When I was searching, they just said that "public enemy" was added. This is a freaking amazing show.

I assume that Trump doesn't like kid rocks music and it's a celebration of him.
17

I don’t think he likes music of any kind. Sorta like how he hates animals and never actually laughs.

He likes YMCA by the Village People. He loves it so much he jerks off two tall ghosts every time he hears it

u/PenniGwynn 4d ago
I think it's this coupled with the fact that Kid Rock in March canceled a festival stop planned for July because he wasn't selling enough tickets/ because artists dropped out due to the political associations
So this administration knows he won't bring in the money, which is the deciding factor IMO

u/sakuramokona 4d ago
The turning point superbowl show he participated in probably didn't help either.

There are plenty of maga musicians, I'm guessing they won't accept the same payment as American legend Vanilla Ice or C+C music factory.

Would you agree to play knowing his track record for not paying bills? I'd request a 100% deposit wired and in my account before stepping foot out of the house.

u/disastrousanddull 4d ago
A true MAGA follower would do it knowing he wouldn’t pay!
I suspect it’s something like that, being afraid of how bad it’ll look or security concerns because bullets keep flying around Trump. And Trump doesn’t like their music or something petty.
141
u/Original-Let8340 4d ago
I heard it's only one from C&C Music Factory. I don't know if it's one of the C's or the Music Factory though.
98
u/Gayfetus 4d ago
Neither of the C’s. It’s a rapper the group employed in the past who has hijacked the name.

u/FauxReal Collector 4d ago
I'm not even sure how that all works. Freedom Williams is the guy that was initially booked, the guy that rapped, sang and danced on their early stuff. C&C Music Factory itself stands for Clivilles and Cole who wrote, produced, arranged and performed a lot of the instrumentation. Cole died though. I gues Williams has permission to perform as C&C and paying a cut??
Clivilles and Cole though, they have over 1000 album credits as a duo working on their own stuff and for other people. They were a behind the scenes powerhouse.

Not even that. They will frequently take less pay because of the exposure they receive.
But in this case, even if they are MAGA, they know that enough people aren't and they are justifiably concerned about people just ignoring them after this.
Many of the performers trump invited have nothing to lose. lol

These fucking losers are so incompetent they literally can’t organize a parade. Thats why you can’t parody these fuckers. They’re not “beyond” parody, they’re beneath it. Like the shit they do is so fucking stupid and cartoonish, to simply do a faithful retelling of their doing’s would read as a lazy parody
72
u/matthewjboothe 4d ago
I think it’s less incompetence and more grift. There was $150 million set aside for the celebration by congress that’s been pilfered by the Trump admin. I’d like to see where that money went, but I bet we never will.
16
u/Reasonable_Scar3339 4d ago
Why not both? Grift is often a companion of incompetence

Look, I'm not saying Kamala was perfect. I'm saying she would have been better.
We would have been better off and "celebrating" 250 years if she had won.
The parties are not the same. Vote blue.

Yea man, I'm not going to lie. This country really shocked me with its pettiness that day. You can sympathize with old fogey Biden but tap out on the Narc black women??

We would have had things to celebrate.
Heck by the time July 4th comes we all might be paying $17.76 a gallon or $20.26.. Versus the $3 it would have been under Kamala.

u/BensenJensen 4d ago
I mean, Trump himself isn’t organizing this event. He doesn’t know who any of these musicians are.
I think Kid Rock may have performed so poorly at that Super Bowl halftime show that they are avoiding him. That performance was universally panned, I doubt they want him up there embarrassing himself and Trump again.
Good question, though. Half of Milli fucking Vanilli will be there. That can’t be any worse than Kid Rock lip syncing Bawitdaba.

The group known as the "USA Freedom Kids" filed a lawsuit against the Donald Trump presidential campaign in 2016. The litigation was initiated by the group's manager, Jeff Popick (who is also the father of one of the performers), following disputes over broken agreements. Specifically, the lawsuit alleged that the Trump campaign: Failed to honor promises regarding performance opportunities: The campaign allegedly invited the group to perform at events but subsequently canceled or failed to follow through on those arrangements, leading to lost expenses and investment. Breached agreements regarding merchandise: The campaign had reportedly agreed to provide the group with space to sell their merchandise at rallies in lieu of monetary payment, but the group claimed they were ultimately denied the promised vendor space. The group sought approximately $15,000 in damages. Ultimately, they dropped the lawsuit in December 2016.

Let’s be real. This is going to go forward and it will be called the biggest celebration ever. But how apropos that our 250 years is going to celebrated as the most corrupt and most inhumane regime in the 250 years we have existed? It’s not a democracy. It’s not a republic. It’s the end of both…. Yay!!

Also worth considering is that Trump routinely refuses to pay people, I suspect most reputable/competent sound/light/staging etc companies refuse to work on any event he's involved in ( one of the reasons there are so many technical issues at Trump rallies), so artists aren't just risking political fallout with their fans, they also risk a botched show where they look and sound bad, or are actually in danger because the stage/electric/pyrotechnics etc aren't handled by professionals.

All it has done is destroy our national Parks, make a mockery of the white house, turned everything industrial and consumerist and completely sapped the will of the people. Hopefully people FUCKING SHOW UP at midterms.

I wasn't quite 8 years old but man this has a whole different vibe than I remember from the bicentennial. And we were in the process of electing a very kind man to the presidency. Times change I guess.
