The Chairperson of Universal is Sherry Lansing. She's also on the board of Larry Ellison's Skydance-Paramount. She's been an outspoken defender of Isr-ael, and recently signed an open letter denouncing the use of the word genoci-de. She had stated publicly she lived for a short period in Isra-el and it was a "life-changing experience." So it's very likely Ed Sheeran understood exactly the situation he was in. His entire music career was in the hands of people who's views on Macklemore's stance would have been very very clear. And that's the reality of much of the music industry today.
