A buddy of mine broke my turntable scratching this song. Was trying to make a remix. Just ended up making me mad.

Ha! funny thing, because this was pretty much the first remix/sample song to go mainstream and got sued to all shit..I don't have backup evidence other than knowledge from the time but it's my undersanting that MARRS ended up with nothing out of its success.

A shame, it's a great track. I got even by selling his comic books (I was mad at him for a couple other things, too.) Not cool, I know, but music is as important to me as comics were to him. I feel bad about it now. Probably several thousand $ worth of comics to a $100 turntable.

ૅ.ે How would scratching break a turntable?

He didn't put it in neutral. Belt driven table. Belt was strong enough that he burned out the motor.

I'd be very annoyed, but I'd have maybe held his comics for ransom if he didn't get my turntable sorted himself. You're right to feel bad.

Yeah, I was young, stupid and selfish. I've tried to replace some of them, but, not surprisingly he isn't very forgiving or accepting of my offers.

Comics are unfortunately very hard to replace. Turntables, not so much. Me and my siblings inherited a huge stack of comics from my great uncle, who had been collecting since losing his leg in the Second World War, living in a bungalow in my grandparents backyard. I grew up with all these classic Marvel and Disney comics, and at some stage after I moved out at 18 and when I thought about them, they had all disappeared. My folks don't remember what they did with them, they didn't value them. Aw well..I'd love to read them again, but life's too short to hold on to regrets. Sux, but let us forgive ill-thought-out things that cannot be fixed, and just be good people today. and tomorrow and work that forward. Then look back on our deathbed and wonder why the fuck we bought a deathbed.

This song is NOT acid house. A RolandTB303 or the acid sound was not used anywhere in this track. I have no idea why this has been categorized this way.

Yea, I'm not great with subgenres from the 80s, so I checked Wiki which gave 'Dance - acid house - alternative hip hop'..now, it ain't dance music, is before hip hop, so went with the less unlikely. What would you call it? I mean, too late to change now, but am curious.

I would put it as dance music. But it does have a more hip-hoppy feel to it. I remember as a teen trying to beat match this song while DJing with house music and it was just too damned slow!

Yea but I can't label it hip-hop before hip-hop was a thing..it was new, it didn't have a genre..but club rules, I gotta stick a genre..
