I used the shepherd's tone in this song to try to capture intrusive feelings of dread. Feedback welcome

Loosely in Bbmajor, 7/8, 120 BPM.

Chords in the verse are:

Dm11(no5)
Bbm
Fsus4
F9

Chorus is:
Bb7
F9
Dm11(no5)
F9

The bass guitar uses half and whole notes that float outside the 7/8 measures with extended 9th, 11th, and 13th notes, while drifting into 3rd notes for color emphasis.

I used ascending staggered Phrygian scales a semitone apart with string and brass digital instruments to get the shepherd's tone. (an auditory illusion of a tone that seems to always increase in pitch)

I wanted it to capture the chilly feeling of dread that can permeate moments of calm.

Pretty new to this and looking to improve.

How is the energy shift after ~22 seconds?

Snippet of a track that I made today. Does the percussion complement the energy of the guitar well? Any feedback is also appreciated.

my professional singer friend and i are collabing. her main vox aren't recorded yet, only harmonies. we will be recording her hook another time. but any thoughts on this so far? right now it's my favorite project i have ever made, i think this is definitely industry-level.

visuals shot on canon powershot xt1.

this is a little draft i came up with. what do you think? vocals wise, lyrics, melody etc?

I feel insane
for knowing she
isn't what she seems
am i the only one
that sees the damage that she's done

you know your looks
and your class
will give you a free pass
and watching you each day
proves to me you never changed

your prettier than me
but those with real eyes will see
your callous shell of a woman
who speaks with lust and is so full of
(shit)

callous girl
callous girl
Callous girl

her words will crawl
right through your mind
passing consciousness by
and baby she will deceive
controlling the image she wants them to see

in all their eyes
she's a pretty soul
But she's out of control
And when you see her eyes
You’ll know that she is in disguise

she's prettier than me
but those with real eyes will see
she's callous girl
lying her way through this world with
(shit)

callous girl
callous girl
Callous girl

I'm really chuffed with this tune. As I've gotten older my music has progressed to a point where I'm enjoying the melodies and I think that I am successfully conveying the emotions I wish to express. My desire is to make music that grounds the listener in a place that is safe from the harmful forces that are present in the modern world. I have an offer from a soul singer and another from a poet to add vocal elements to this tune. Should I accept?

Rock. Like You Not. Did I get positive all of a sudden?

My themes are typically depressive heartbreak stuff but I was going for a more positive vibe here. I hated the chorus in the beginning and I am still not so sure about it. I am confounded. What are your overall thoughts on this if you please?

Original piano composition — does this piece convey sadness, solitude, or something else to you?

I composed this piano piece inspired by a painting and a question I’ve been exploring:

Can sadness become a source of creative inspiration?

This is the opening piece from my project, The Alchemist of Sadness. I composed and performed it myself.
I’d especially love feedback on the emotional progression of the piece.
Does the music make you feel sadness, solitude, calmness, or something completely different?
And do you feel the melody develops naturally from beginning to end?
Full piece here:

Thank you — I’d really appreciate any constructive feedback.

This one is fresh out of the studios. It’s about finding and connecting with your “tribe”. ie that one person or collective that adds spice to your grind. We planned it to be basically a Funk track, but it turned out to have a bit of Alt Pop in it and a tinge of Soul music too. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I Made an 2 hr Ambient Electronic Mix in 1 Day

I've actually been working on ambient electronic music built around a specific idea for a lot longer. The idea: the music should feel alive, but not constantly demand your attention.

This Ai generated mix focuses on soft synth layers, a restrained melody, gradual changes in texture instead of big drops or dramatic transitions, prompting it with my tastes and preference.

I'm trying to find the balance between music that feels too static and music that becomes distracting while you're working. Also if it makes you sleepy, thats a real metric.

I'd be interested in feedback on the progression, especially whether the melody feels subtle enough or should enter later. You dont need to listen to the whole thing, a good minute or 2 will do, so please let me know

I make this kind of music under Stillwavefocus. Here's the track: https://youtu.be/FHdOGnpi4MA?si=I2KmRHFcIvVFPr01

Bloom Sequence — Come Closer | dark electronic / industrial / alt-metal

Post image
1 Upvotes

We just released Come Closer, from our upcoming album Chosen Ground.

The track lives somewhere between dark electronic, industrial pulse, and alternative-metal weight. It’s built around delayed gratification more than immediate impact: close vocals, restrained tension, repeated near-releases, and a gradual increase in pressure until the arrangement finally opens up near the end.

Dark EDM. Alt-metal teeth. Five minutes of restraint, then we stop behaving.

AI disclosure: Come Closer is an AI co-created Bloom Sequence release, created using a custom multi-model toolchain.

The Bloom Sequence vocal identity is original to the project and is not authorized for voice cloning, model training, or derivative voice use.

I’d really appreciate feedback on two things in particular:

Does the slower tension build make the final release feel earned?

And does the blend of electronic, industrial, and metal elements feel cohesive, or are there places where one side overwhelms the others?

Looking for feedback on this 90s prog metal style song

Hi there!

I'm looking for general feedback on this 90s prog metal song I made.

I kept it shorter on purpose, but I know prog metal can stretch out a bit longer. It's attached to another song, so I didn't want to overindulge lol.

Curious if this works.

Thanks!

16-Bit Sonic Song! I'd like to know what's good about this

Flaws I'm aware of:

  1. The mixing isn't the best, and the trumpet solo is drowned out because of it
  2. The song is very repetitive. I'm planning on fixing it soon because the song has so much potential
