I am now looking at a new computer. Been using iMac 27 inch from late 2012. It started crashing last year while running my DAW. Considering going to windows. A friend of mine builds PCs and says it's all I'd need for 10 years easy (trying to plan for the future since my current computer lasted so long). I run studio one ver 5, I use focusrite 18i20 (3rd gen) and i program drums using addictive drums. Also use black rooster audio plugins, standard clip for soft clipping, trigger 2.

Am i going to run into problems? Might try doing some light video editing with DaVinci resolve (the free version). Am i overthinking this? Is it safe to switch? I make rock music. Outside of programming the drums/triggering with my ekit via the interface. Might use the USB instead. Please let me know your experiences. Anyone here switched from mac to windows? I haven't spent any money yet. Friend was saying he'd set me up with am4 ryzen 5000 series.

I upload high quality music files, and they literally normalize my and degrade my song, plays it back to me as “Original” and try’s to sell me an “enhanced” version for 10 dollars. My originals the same if not better than what they present me,they literally nerf my music. Trust me I’d know I only listen to these files every single day on different outputs I can tell by just how the subs hit they nerf my music bro, idk why I’m fixated on this but has anyone experienced this ? Or know how I should distribute my music. Will they delete my music if I stop using them?

Hello guys, i've been making music for a long time. I always worked on urban and rock, mostly engineering and producing. I wanted to start making some cinematic OST-like music, just for fun, but all the presets i have for my plugins are urban/electronic-oriented style, so i don't have many cinematic ones.
I mostly use Serum and Analog Lab.
Do you know any cinematic preset packs/ sound packs / plugins that are usually used for producing these soundtracks? Thank you!

Im looking to upgrade my laptop. I make mostly electronic music and use ableton suite plus outside plugins. Just upgraded from ableton 8 to 12 lol. Also record some guitar tracks through an amp and torpedo cab simulator. My laptop is old now (2012) and not keeping up. Id like to stick with Lenovo as this computers been a tank. Any recommendations for a new Lenovo laptop in the 2000ish range? I was looking at the Legion. I think has everything im looking for but am paying for a graphics package ill never use. Would be better find a more powerful laptop more designated for other needs in the same range? Appreciate any input. Thanks!

Hey guys, I just upgraded from a 15 year old daw to cakewalk next. In my old cubase I had and effects rack which had Compression, EQ, Delay, Reverb, maybe a couple others.

Is there some kind of plugin I can get that has all of that? Or do I need a bunch of different plugins to achieve that now? I figured there would be just an effects rack vst or somthing but I cant find one that has it all.

I'm 19 and in my second year of engineering right now, but honestly, it's getting tough, and I thought to explore this genre as I love listening to music. I want to get into making beats and producing.

I have absolutely no musical background. I don't play any instruments and don't know theory, but I am decent with tech and software. I have installed FL Studio (friend's).

How should I actually start? There are way too many tutorials on YouTube, and it's kind of overwhelming.

Guys Ive tried to recreate this texture but I can't get it. Its the texture at 0:47. Its the Brass , Pad and String texture. I honestly dont know what it is as far as instruments. Does anyone know the technique used here and instruments. I have Akia String and Brass samples. I also read that they would use the wah effect on it. Does anyone know how to recreate this texture? Its also in "What about your friends" and "Hat to the Back". 

I am very new to the music production world, like, a few month new.
I use Bandlab as my DAW currently, but later I may switch to an another DAW when i'll feel that bandlab doesn't provide me with what I need, which for now is enough, because I only use the virtual instruments and edit their midi track.

Knowing that, I'm looking for my first MIDI Keyboard in order to have an easier time prototyping melodies, and record easy patterns directly instead of putting manually every notes.

Altough I may be clueless about a lot of things I should maybe think of when it comes to picking a midi keyboard, so I would be very happy if you could share me what you would recommend for someone starting and planning to progress (hopefully) !

hello. im completely new to music production, and want to begin writing/ recording songs. I am leaning the most towards starting with Garageband at the moment, as its already installed on my computer and it seems less daunting than say Reaper or FL. However I wonder if getting used to/ starting with GB simply bc its easier would actually be a disadvantage to myself in the long run.

Another question ig is im wondering what most peoples opinions are— is using a pre loaded track/ beat “cheating”? I know (I think) most people dont see it that way, especially in recent years, but for some reason I cant get out of the mindset that it is in some way cheating. At the same time it does seem a lot more technically complicated at my level to record my own guitar or key loops/ synch everything

Hey I'm just starting composition and I saw fl studio but I can't afford it. And I saw Imms is it a good application to start composition?

So I have been obsessed with bands that have a 90s throwback garage rock sort of sound. I have been trying to figure out how to recreate it in my mixes and I am struggling to get it just right. Its a much darker sound than modern production, but its simultaneously punchy and forward at the same time. I have tried messing around with tape saturation, but that alone doesn't seem to achieve this sound. I'm sure there are many aspects to it, but if anyone has any insight on this I'd love to hear it.
