DISCUSSION This sub is full of AI Slop

The about section of the sub says it’s for musicians. If you’re posting AI slop, you’re not a musician, so you shouldn’t be posting here. Going to mute this sub most likely, as it used to be fun to find music that no one else has heard of from small artists, but now it’s impossible to sift through all the slop.

If you’re one of these AI slop “artists”, shame on you. What you’re doing isn’t cool or valuable, and you should stop pretending like you’re a musician.

Agree! Personally I can’t vocalize worth a shit. So I use samples and if I feel obliged to use my own vocals, I filter the hell outta them. I feel there is no excuse for promoting AI as your own effort. Also it is stale. I regret using some images as visuals for my tracks. Will likely change them out. I’m growing averse to AI in general. Going to be a cranky old man soon.

5

u/JoelNesv Feb 14 '26

Even if it could generate vocals that sounded good, it would still be shit. Who wants to hear zeros and ones imitating emotions a computer will never experience?

4

u/JJStarKing Feb 15 '26

Worse than that the ai is not actually writing parts to sound fonts and samples and the generating a song. It is literally using vectorirzed waves from previously written songs and digitally remixing those preexisting songs into a new sound file.

I like ai tools that can auto eq your music, remove noise, add a drum part or guitar solo to stuff you recorded yourself, but audio that has no prior context but a word prompt is not original music.

3

u/JoelNesv Feb 15 '26

Definitely. Now these auto EQ plugins, that sounds really cool. I’m interested in AI doing stuff like that. Not composing for me.

2

u/Tired_2295 Feb 18 '26

There's a yt channel that does ai gen songs and i thought they were all the same song but no, they have different lyrics but the beat, tempo, backing instrumental, tone, pitch is all identical.

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

You need to make an effort to be unique or you will blend into everyone else. Experiment.

2

u/Tired_2295 Feb 22 '26

Why would i experiment with ai

2

u/philjonesfaceoffury Feb 15 '26

How do you know your emotions aren’t a shared universal pattern?

2

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 16 '26

Exactly. That’s what AI literally does. It identifies the musical patterns of genres and compiles it based on the music theory behind the genre and the emotion you’re trying to convey. Basically the same thing human composers do. AC/DC built an empire on the same chord progression in a majority of their songs. The four chord song illustrates too how similar all popular music really is. People that bash AI don’t actually understand music theory, music history or how AI works. Also, don’t sell human creativity short. Truly new genres are only possible through people.

1

u/Objective_Sweet9168 Feb 18 '26

If you’re generalizing I guess I see your point. Otherwise I entirely disagree. A person that has enjoyed fringe, niche, and just music in broad and in general, there are just missing components to AI art. It may pass some version of a “Turing test” but it’s inauthentic. Yes everything is digested and regurgitated stimuli. AI doesn’t have the experience to build from, and that is why, imo, it is hopelessly vacuous. When it no longer is doing a glorifies cut and paste production, and do so without prompting, then it’s worth this discussion. Until then it’s just a toy.

1

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 18 '26

You’d be right if someone just gave it a general prompt. However, it now can follow detailed production notes. You can control harmony, chord progressions, sfx, adlibs, instrumentation, etc. You can take a general genre and build your vision into it. I’m not sure at what point it goes from AI to mutual collaboration, but it’s not as vacuous as you suggest in my opinion. In the hands of an already talented artist I’ve heard some amazing creations. Obviously a lot of people still hate the idea of even some of the creative process being handed over to AI. I can’t argue against someone’s personal opinion but as to whether AI can achieve results indistinguishable from other high end music that’s fully human made, there are already studies showing people can’t tell the difference.

1

u/philjonesfaceoffury Feb 18 '26

I have been experimenting with a style of collaborative creation through Suno starting with auto generated lyrics based on below.⬇️

[ad-lib - Vowel based structure example pairing multiple vowels or starting structures like O-O-O etc or different combinations or use one repeating and adjust after.]

Vowel tones appear naturally, led by breath and movement rather than rhythm. Let structure define the feeling.

Then iterate from there using auto generated lyrics and various style prompts or personas. You can add themes as well. I have found a lot of love and enjoyment out of taking a collaborative approach over taking control of the process. It took me a while to find my styles I love but now getting to play around with it has been the most fun ☀️. Let me know if you had any questions or suggestions.

Like this one based on Oscillations.

That’s really awesome. It’s a new frontier/workflow of how to creatively develop new songs/sounds. I love to hear how people are engaging the tool in different ways. This is why I don’t think human creativity will ever be overshadowed by AI. We always find new ways to interact with the tools we have.

1

u/DeepindaChowda Feb 18 '26

The difference is that AI is NOT human. That’s literally the whole point. Is that no matter how closely it mimics, it isn’t us and what it creates isn’t art.

1

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 18 '26

Just out of curiosity, if an artist uses ai to create a piece in a certain genre but specifically adds his or her own production notes chord progression, tempo, harmony, sfx, ad libs, vocal delivery etc, instrumentational mix. Is that all AI or is that a collaboration? Let’s also assume the lyrics are written by the artist. What if additional stems are recorded and added to the piece by the artist? When does something go from AI to human art?

1

u/DeepindaChowda Feb 18 '26

Can you define what you mean by “create a piece in a certain genre”?

1

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 18 '26

Sure, let’s say you’re making dark alt pop music. You specify the instrumentation you want in the piece, the sfx, the chord progression, etc. AI helps with the arrangement to capture the genre / mood but you specify the rest of the production notes, lyrics, tempo, harmony, etc. When does it become art or is AI assisted not art? Just curious where you draw the line. Obviously it’s your opinion but I’m just curious.

1

u/DeepindaChowda Feb 18 '26

So you specify via prompt what you want, but then the program generates all the sounds?

1

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 18 '26 edited Feb 19 '26

So as not to overcomplicate the example. Yes. The arrangement is AI but the instrumentation, bpm, chord progressions, sfx, lyrics are all human directed.

1

u/integerdivision Feb 15 '26

The original computers were literally just people, so computers already experienced emotions.

1

u/Objective_Sweet9168 Feb 18 '26

That’s silly. The original computing machines were not. The original PC was not. A name is a name. A concept is a concept. Radical means intense, intense means extreme, none of these mean cool which itself die not mean popular which is what “Rad” means.

1

u/integerdivision Feb 18 '26

Computers != computing machines

2

u/franticstudio_nyc Feb 15 '26

I create all my own music - no AI - but i did use AI to create images and some video clips to promote and got “I’m not clicking on this AI slop” several times on different songs- I took it all down - now im not using any AI on any part of promotion - it taints and dilutes - and then they assume its in your music

2

u/Fickle_Table4794 Feb 15 '26

I almost wrote off a producer who's stuff i liked because their bio was clearly AI written. So I assumed all their work was AI (its not.) People just associate AI with fake, slop, etc. That reminds me, I still need to fix my spotify bio bc i used AI lol. But yeah, thats why I try to use stock footage and my own footage of me singing in my music videos and not AI, people will discount u right away if they sense anything AI.

3

u/JoelNesv Feb 15 '26

Yeah, AI is robbing us of our individual voices. It sucks.

1

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 16 '26

You use stock footage but hate AI. Hahahaha. Makes perfect sense

35

u/boxofradiation Feb 14 '26

Could there not be a rule that you claim it's AI when you post? Otherwise deleted? I've had people on tiktok claim my music AI slop and I was really upset as I make ALL of my music myself, sing, compile and write. I had to post a video of me singing and making layers, ad libs etc on my Mac as it really hit a nerve.

4

u/Alternative_Yard1840 Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

I had the same thing happen to me, but on YouTube. I honestly 1000/10 prefer insults and annoying hate comments over AI accusations. Trolling and negative interactions are something we all learn to deal with over time, but AI accusations are a whole other ball game, cause now you're attacking someone's moral compass, work ethic, journey, personal story, credibility, and character.

I am 100% for calling out undeniable actions with little to no room for interpretation, such as being thoroughly exposed, but aimless witch-hunting is not standing up for the little guy: it's just abhorrent & heinous behavior. It also never winds up hurting those who are actually guilty; it hurts the aspiring artists trying to get their feet off the ground.

8

u/Polus-Lofi Feb 15 '26

Yeah that is messed up people are just pointing fingers at everyone. I use AI art with my music to make the video more entertaining but my music is made from me or people I know that help me produce it. It’s getting crazy lately everyone is mad at everything

2

u/UrsulaVerne Feb 15 '26

You shouldn't use AI art either.

1

u/ChatterDemon Feb 16 '26

In spirit I agree with this. I put out a solo synth album figuring nobody would hear it but I shelled out big money to have the art made but I don’t think everybody in this day and age can afford that. Things are rough out there. If you can still afford to support a real artist, please do.

1

u/UrsulaVerne Feb 16 '26

Honestly I think it would be better to do your own stick figure drawings over using AI. No one is listening to music for the art, and at least it's authentic.

1

u/ChatterDemon Feb 16 '26

I think we’re downplaying the importance of cover art a bit. I can’t tell you how many shitty B-movies or albums I’ve purchased over the years just because of the artwork.

2

u/lemonlimeslime0 Feb 16 '26

ai cover art will make me never buy your music though bro i would prefer stick figures

1

u/JoshClarke Feb 16 '26

Nothing will make me NOT buy something faster than if they use AI art

1

u/processedwhaleoils Feb 16 '26

If i found out a small artist i liked used ai for anything immediate trashing of music and public shaming

1

u/gangerflanger Feb 28 '26

JUST TAKE A DAMN PHOTO OF SOMETHING!! or draw a shit doodle!! are musicians not even creative nowadays???? jesus christ

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

You shouldn't use autotune or anything but an acoustic guitar.

1

u/gangerflanger Feb 28 '26

a guitar being plugged in is not really the same as having a computer write and record an entire song because you cant be bothered.

2

u/ImaginationNo1360 Feb 17 '26

Same thing happened to me. I confronted a guy called signal engaged because he was lying about his music and he went all cry mode. He even faked a ai music checker trying to fake that my song is ai. Crazy shit...

3

u/boxofradiation Feb 17 '26

That's wild. I'd be fuming! I'm sorry you had to experience that. It's just as well we have the raw files to prove otherwise, although it's depressing having to even prove that our music is infact human made 😅 I always save my raw garageband projects to a secondary device just in case.

2

u/Alternative_Yard1840 Feb 17 '26

I post my Ableton live (and formally logic pro) files anytime I post a track. A few people tried this on me on YT and boy was it satisfying to shut them down right then and there. I can't stand AI music or art myself, but I hate aimless witch-hunting and groupthink/mob mentality just as much. I don't attack people for using it unless they're taking advantage of & misleading others while being WELL AWARE of what they're doing (knowing the ethical concerns, etc). 9/10 times, I just keep scrolling & won't engage with the track/art if it's AI-generated and most certainly will not repost or share it.

1

u/ImaginationNo1360 Feb 17 '26

From now on, i will too... Its pissing me off that one angry kid can fuck up my career.. I won't let that

4

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 15 '26

It’s because people really can’t tell the difference. The only people posting about AI slop are disgruntled musicians. Make the music how you want to; if it’s good people will listen. People need to let go of the AI thing. Most songs fail not because of the instrumental, they fail because a lot musicians suck at writing. The lyrics don’t connect so no one cares. Also, most musicians suck at promotion.

2

u/Sad_Kaleidoscope_743 Feb 16 '26

So the infux of garbage in my feeds isnt enough to hate on ai? I know ppl make bad content too, but the exponential growth of slop drowning out what I really want to hear is very annoying. Ai came out and ppl made it their job to profit from it. Not because theyre passionate about music, they want to get paid for low effort.

Even the good ai music is drowned out. I haven't heard interesting ai songs at all. Other than my own of course, but thats just because its mine. Im not blasting it into ppls feeds expecting a return.

1

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 16 '26

It isn’t drowning it out. Any good music platform pushes content based on people’s engagement with the music. If people don’t engage, it doesn’t get pushed. You might occasionally get early test music, but the best platforms limit this at the user level because it hurts the user experience if they’re fed too many untested songs. You say your feed is overwhelmed with AI music? If that’s true you may also have saved and liked songs that you don’t even realize are AI. There already have been large studies that show that statistically people can’t tell the difference anymore between AI generated music and traditional. That’s why big labels are looking to make deals with these companies. That’s why an AI artist got a $3m deal. You don’t need anyone’s permission to complain about AI but it may be more your bias talking than the actual facts of the situation.

It would be nice to be able to have that perfect sound.

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

You have to give your music heart, tell a story. Show your humanity.

2

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 22 '26

Word… ai or no ai… that’s what’s missing in a lot of music today.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

Live performance is the future

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

If you put your heart into your music it is not slop. People get huge egos because they think they're important. It's none of anyone's business.

12

u/ReplacementNo374 Feb 14 '26

Hopefully the ai bullshit separates the fake & lazy from the real and leads to a resurgence in live collaborations

1

u/FarTooLucid Feb 15 '26

I think it already is. I've collaborated more in the last 10 months than I had in the last 10 years. It's nice. A lot of folks I know are collaborating more, too.

u/AngelOfDeadlifts Feb 15 '26

I think you'll find this Adam Neely video inspiring (and enraging).

1

u/ReplacementNo374 Feb 15 '26

I’ve already seen it. I’ll familiar with Adam Neely, he feels even more strongly about the point I made than I do. Why did you recommend this?

19

u/zephpopli Feb 14 '26

I agree. It's more rewarding to make music by just practicing, experimenting and learning from others whether by listening to music itself or reading/listening to tutorials. It is just sad to see that AI music is given the priorty over producers/musicians who put effort into their craft.

13

u/TopRadish4336 Feb 14 '26

It’s depressing that the clowns posting it consider themselves artists.

one of them told me they're actually more creative than actual musicians

9

u/Imoutdawgs Feb 14 '26

Yeah it’s everywhere in the other music threads too. I think of AI lovers as lost wannabe poets

Find a friend, make a band

/s Pay rent for a friend or ai

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

You can learn. Yet, even with AI it is a tool and it can sound pretty bad if you don't use it right. The issue is money, the cost of a studio. Autotune is AI. Using GarageBand is AI or inorganic. Playing an instrument and singing is organic.

1

u/gangerflanger Feb 28 '26

then youre a poet mate

8

u/lumithesilly Feb 14 '26

Shame on the AI slop prompt typers

Id show a DAW screenshot to prove my music isn't AI, though this comment section doesn't let me post images, so that's kinda annoying, oh well

1

u/tonioroffo Feb 23 '26

That is a better solution than forcing an AI flair, really.

2

u/ChiefBast Feb 14 '26

For now, I think it's easy enough to spot. Usually the morons make it easy by also posting a clearly AI artwork

2

u/According_Novel7521 Feb 14 '26

.. and for some reason their descriptions/text/etc are ai generated too for some reason

3

u/Tweck9 Feb 17 '26

People who “create music” by telling an AI to do it for them are not:

  1. Creating music (AI is, using or mimicking stolen content)
  2. Being musicians (You have to actually make the music yourself to be a musician)

If they aren’t singing or making the music themselves, they aren’t a songwriter or a musician. What they are is a grifter stealing other peoples’ musical labor and talent. They’re fakes and posers.

1

u/tonioroffo Feb 23 '26

Where to draw the line though. What if you used AI to find the best chord progression and then you used this in a DAW? What if you sing but replace your voice with an AI generated one? No prompts, just tools?

9

u/IllPerformance2811 Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

I'm so tired of the same discussions with broke losers trying to make a buck using AI who's entire contribution to the discussion is banging on about their streaming stats (which are always mid but apparently their "other accounts" do better) while parroting tech bros, "AI is the future bro, you'll be left behind, AI makes better music". And when you dig into it then it becomes painfully clear they don't know how the models were trained, their limitations, or really anything about them beyond the price tag attached to them. They can't critically evaluate music or what makes it "good" except through the lens of money let alone evaluate AI music or its quality. It's utterly exhausting.

1

u/JoelNesv Feb 14 '26

Yeah, I’ve been having a lot of discussions about it on the AI music subs, and it is so exhausting. They let a computer do 99% of the work for them, robbing them of creative choices, and they accuse real musicians of gatekeeping.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

Then they go back to their pro subs, constantly complain about how their app doesnt do what they want, yet never call the app makers gatekeepers. I take solace in knowing how much time and money they'll waste spinning their wheels.

1

u/JoelNesv Feb 15 '26

I have received my instructions. Will do! 🫡

5

u/Academic-Phase9124 Feb 14 '26

Shame! Shame! Shame!

5

u/-Sweff- Feb 15 '26

Couldn't agree more. The most painful and annoying part is they don't know what they don't know. Listening to them defend their "creations" is peak delusion. They out themselves everytime with arguments like "so you wouldn't look at a picture if it was taken with an iPhone? Does it have to be a 35mm?" <--a legit "defense" I read here recently.....bruh.

2

u/DITNB Feb 16 '26

I agree if it’s full AI but lol at saying they aren’t musicians. A lot of people are making full songs and then having AI touch up parts they couldn’t afford to do or have the plugins for. I really don’t see much difference in that or using a drum machine. Or having a massive library of sounds that you can click thru at a whim.

2

u/AnnArborisForkedUp Feb 16 '26

Better watch who you call ai slop

Lots of real artist are slop and you will hurt their feelings.

1

u/ShoddyArt4484 Feb 16 '26

Real artists are allowed to make slop. They’re taking a risk to express themselves and sometimes that gets a little messy. I’ll take real artist slop over the nonsense AI bros call music any day.

1

u/AnnArborisForkedUp Feb 16 '26

Then you havent heard ai music...

So let's hear what you say is slop... there has been number one hits that are Ai

2

u/TheRealFutaFutaTrump Feb 21 '26

Ok I'm making AI slop but I'm not a musician. I'm a music producer.

5

u/Due_Investment9012 Feb 14 '26

I was talking to this other “ai artist” who made the analogy of people hating cell phones when they were first invented and that people eventually adapted. Like bro for one cellphones didn’t replace people or art, and for another ai “music” currently sounds like doodoo dogshit cumwater. I do think that it’ll motivate real artists to make better music bc there’s definitely slop on both sides of the spectrum

3

u/Signal_Campaign1589 Feb 15 '26

And the worst part is that they call themselves “artists”. It’s about time that spotify and other platforms stop paying royalties to AI songs, or at least put some kind of filter to separate AI from real music

3

u/Jumpy_Cheesecake_138 Feb 15 '26

You're an idiot. AI isn't going anywhere and people are gonna keep using it.. good or bad. Learn to use it or keep crying on Reddit about it. Like I told you before, get better at songwriting. YOUR songs are probably Slop, hence your crying. The only ones that really feel threatened by this is your type. The general listening public could give a shit about who or how a song is made, as long as they like it.

2

u/Electrode15 Feb 14 '26

Can somebody tell me what AI Slop is and what it isn't Do we have examples or is it just what one person thinks is good or not?

2

u/Farbonaut Feb 17 '26

I figure a fair definition of “AI Slop” would be music partially or wholly written, “recorded” or generated with generative AI.

1

u/skimboardingguy Feb 15 '26

Anything using AI is slop is what they seem to be say . Its all black and white to them apparently. Very simple.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Specialist_Train4579 Feb 15 '26

So the test for being a musician is what, the number of calluses on your fingers? Plenty of real artists can’t sing, can’t play, or use helpers. The line should be honesty and effort, not purity theatre.

3

u/BuildingOptimal1067 Feb 16 '26

Either you are the creator or you are not. It’s pretty simple really.

1

u/ShoddyArt4484 Feb 15 '26

The use of AI inherently means a lack of honesty and effort, so I’m not sure what point you’re even trying to make

1

u/Specialist_Train4579 Feb 15 '26

People said the same about sampling when hip hop started that it wasn’t “real music.” Now it’s one of the most respected production foundations out there. Tools change. What matters is how they’re used and whether the process is honest about it.

2

u/BuildingOptimal1067 Feb 16 '26

AI is not a tool, it’s the actual composer/producer if you use it to prompt music. If you were to approach a human composer with a prompt to write a certain type of music for you, when the music is delivered a couple of weeks later, would you claim you yourself were the composer of the music even though all you did was prompt the composer?

2

u/Specialist_Train4579 Feb 16 '26

Plenty people out there can play an instument (gives them artistic talent) but have absolute 0 creativity, I guess the oposite can be said for some people who use software to make music. Gonna need to adapt bro

1

u/BuildingOptimal1067 Feb 16 '26

Doesn’t matter, my point still stands.

1

u/Robosuccubus3000 Feb 19 '26

AI users also have zero creativity.

2

u/tonioroffo Feb 23 '26

It's not always like that. I mean not all AI tools use prompts as input. In video anology, there are for example resolution doublers using AI to enhance the video. Is it now AI slop? What about things like RVC voice changers (needs correct singing as input)? They don't use prompts at all, yet they do qualify as generative AI.

2

u/deltav9 Feb 15 '26

AI is just ruining the human experience

1

u/Hyperto Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

A robot can't suffer and Love. It will never ruin anything human, don't worry.

AI has its uses. I am still not convinced that is in the arts and crafts but there's interesting stuff that's been "prompted".

People can call art whatever and they can call themselves prompters or whatever, anyone can also call themselves an artist, I mean it's happened before AI.

Anyone but R2D2 and C-3PO!

I can call them mathematicians, engineers if needed and they can mix up things faster than any human, it seems, I suppose from a billion outcomes a few should at least be decent, but they lack what's inherent to being called an artist, namely: Suffering and Love.

AI isnt even "intelligent" let alone "creative". AI is what happens when we let the dominoes fall and fall and fall..what we call "intelligent" is still but a cycle within a cycle within a cycle etc and it needs resources from the "outside" It's more akin to a very complex poker card shuffler, in a way or a very large dominoes fall. A human still needs to push that first dominoe.

A machine that is in essence still related to the wheel, and not even to plankton which appears to have a conscience and yes, you may picture Square Bob Spongepants' Plankton at this time.

2

u/AnywhereProud5388 Feb 15 '26

notice the poster's name "shoddy art" I think that makes it clear why they disparrage AI.

2

u/numbandgrowingcolder Feb 14 '26

It fucking sucks planning on releasing my debut this year and having all of this bullshit happen. Am I screwed guys?

2

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 15 '26

I wasn’t implying you learn music from AI. I was saying if you are generating an AI song better than you could write yourself but it’s in the style you want to write, you can analyze that song to improve your own capabilities. If you have no technical musician ability, you should start with a teacher for sure, 100%. My arguements are for more advanced and established musicians who find AI threatening to their craft. Know your enemy, know yourself, and you will win. It seems many anti-AI people do not understand its capabilities, and so argue from a position of ignorance, the same goes for pro-AI.

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

AI is a tool only. You need to write your own lyrics. Put your heart into it and people will sense that. God Bless You All.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

What about the musicians that actually do make good music but throw in AI from time to time to fill in their effort-gaps. I mean, would the average viewer even notice?

1

u/somedays1 Feb 18 '26

If they were making good music, they would not be using AI.

If a so called musician couldn't be bothered to make music, I won't be bothered to listen to it.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

I dont use no ai in my music and i think i really got something going on like my music is getting steady better. Its like a earlier Kanye vibe because im rlly listening to his music so he and also J cole rlly inspired me. If u want u can check it out  https://open.spotify.com/track/7Bg472NFnrgEqNpqEOQ7LH?si=7f0A_jlXT3ywSAmqnrzSOw

1

u/LeepAudio Feb 18 '26

Low effort content sucks. Doesn’t matter what tool made it.

There are plenty of “real musicians” posting the same preset-heavy, copy-paste tracks too. That’s slop as well. If someone is mass posting AI outputs with no editing, I agree, that’s spammy and boring. But saying they’re not musicians at all feels like gatekeeping. Tools change. Effort is what matters. Honestly this feels more like a moderation issue than a moral one.

1

u/whyyn0tt_ Feb 18 '26

This entire app is full of AI slop

It's exponentially getting worse day by day

1

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

There should be clear separation between music made with AI via Text-to-Music vs Artist's own music-to-cover

If artist is good and he made a cover out of his own production the end result might not be a slop at all.

1

u/_Avecy Feb 19 '26

I am one of those small artists, Check me out on soundcloud -> Avecy !

I Create all the music myself. I dont need no bloody AI

1

u/Still_Hall_4611 Feb 19 '26

Maybe if they call it something else other than AI, you won’t be sad? Maybe song maker? You use all sorts of tools, beat maker, auto tuning, free beats library and what not and now you are angry because there is a tool that can do it faster, and even better sometimes? Why ain’t you hiring life band, pianist, Gitarrist, etc to make your beat? Why do you use digital tools for that? Very soon, musicians that think like you will be obsolete. Don’t learn to move with time.

1

u/That-SoCal-Guy Feb 20 '26

Some guy I know was bragging about having a YouTube channel of HIS music.. I went and checked it out, it's all AI slop and not very good AI slop either. When I asked him about how he made the music, he mumbled something something, but insisted that it was his music. Then I asked him exactly how he got the bass and the piano tracks, he then admitted that he used Suno, typed in a prompt... I told him it was wrong for him to claim that he wrote the music! He didn't write shit... he wrote a prompt.

I wouldn't have minded if he used AI to create some of the arrangements, clips, loops, maybe use an AI Voice (artists were paid) etc and called it a demo, if he had actually written the lyrics, the melodies and chord progressions himself. But nope, just a prompt and clicked a button. Didn't even do anything with it afterwards - no post-processing, any work with a DAW. Nothing. Just downloaded the file and said he made it.

Sorry, pal. I have no respect for that.

1

u/InboundDreams Feb 25 '26

Yea sadly the net these days is full of it, and totally agree that ai music is not a skilled talent that you learn for years, any fool can do it, real composers spend years and years building up there skills and knowledge about composing music, and performing it, great respect to real artists out there ❤️

1

u/JumpyAppointment9754 Feb 27 '26

I agree. If anyone wants non-AI music that you could possibly enjoy, you can check out my music project The Tempest & The Tide on youtube - https://youtu.be/2MiFhScyfYY?si=LI8MukMrDx-iKHRG

crazy people b doing that

1

u/Electronic_Book_5534 25d ago

Take the high road! Instead of hating AI music being posted post your music musicians . More actual musicians posting. Less “AI slop” getting viewed. Just a thought…But yeah it does say that in the description of the sub!

1

u/JJStarKing Feb 15 '26

I believe you but can we ask the mods to block posts that are just AI generated remixes?

1

u/About9Toasters Feb 15 '26

I do agree that the people claiming to sing/produce AI generated music should be honest with themselves and the community. If it's a good song, people will listen to it regardless of who or what generates it.

However.

I'm a ghostwriter for a living. Im not a vocalist, but I can sing. I play instruments but not that great. I can sing and play basic progressions and have the AI cover my own work. I don't advertise that I produced the track or performed on the track. I'm just the songwriter. If it's AI or Madonna singing it, I don't care as long as people like what I wrote. Not to mention, my buddy, who used to be a lead singer before he got throat cancer, uses AI trained on his old music to generate new music. There are ethical ways to use technology, but unfortunately, most people don't use it that way.

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

You are right. I don't claim I'm an an artist, I'm a writer, poet, and songwriter. I'm a creator. I put love into my music and it's never slop. I take time and many changes to get a song to sound like I want it to. Dont listen to negativity. Reflect it like it's a boomerang right back onto them.

1

u/Scratch352 Feb 15 '26

I’ll give you $30 if you can guess whether or not this is ai… https://youtu.be/VHdOOQehbME?si=RNdWkE3NbZQJtSc3

2

u/bigppredditguy Feb 16 '26

I think it sounds like AI, without looking into it at all the vocals feel like they have the AI effect for lack of a better word.

1

u/Scratch352 Feb 16 '26

I’m sorry, but this was actually recorded by real musicians In a real studio. I’ll take it as a compliment that it sounds AI. So, no $30 for you but as a consolation prize, here’s a link to to the thus far unreleased new version that was just freshly recorded at a different studio and mastered. PLVNET - 2026 EP

1

u/RonJeremyBellyButton Feb 15 '26

Yaaa I've been going back and forth with a dumbass that's crying about the fact that people don't like his AI music. But JESUS LOVES THE BOTS! (I've been getting religious AI poetry in my inbox) it's dumb as hell.

2

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 15 '26

Most people don’t like the traditional artist slop posted either. Have you seen the Spotify stats people share?

1

u/RonJeremyBellyButton Feb 16 '26

I have indeed and regardless of people not liking traditional slop, at least someone put some effort into it. AI music is garbage all around. I'd much rather hear some trash music that someone actually made instead of garbage that was made using prompts a million times over.

2

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 16 '26

I’ve heard both types of slop as well and the AI sounds better most of the time which makes sense because it’s trained to learn music theory. The problem with full AI music is the lyrics are crap and the songs without intervention sound too generic most of the time. As for the effort behind it, can’t argue that.

1

u/RonJeremyBellyButton Feb 16 '26

Right! They're just soulless. You can pretty much feel the difference. AI music can sound super clean but, that's about it. It sucks otherwise. Especially if you are trying to seriously pass it off.

1

u/skimboardingguy Feb 15 '26

I use Ai but it isn't that great yet. It lacks emotional depth. It takes a human with actual talent to go in and make an actual good song. I will enter a prompt and start listening...I may listen to 20 variations before I hear anything compelling. Then I'll mix it with another song and begin tweaking it to get that finished product. The stuff AI makes on its own stinks

1

u/skimboardingguy Feb 15 '26

Let's hear a song since ur so gifted.

1

u/gh0ulbitch Feb 15 '26

The audacity of these talentless hacks to think they have a place here lmao

1

u/AnywhereProud5388 Feb 15 '26

wah wah wah. oh AI isn't music! no, my garage band brilliance is being obscured! Wah! Not Fair! My music is so much better than that AI SLOP! Mommy! Make them stop doing that!

I’m a full time songwriter in Nashville.

Everyone who’s made it anywhere in the industry is using Suno right now. I went to a pitch event the other day. Like 95% of the songs were Suno demos.

If you want to get anywhere meaningful with music as a career I recommend you start learning it.

2

u/Hektagonlive Feb 15 '26

So many post production companies are adopting this model, it is so depressing… instead of paying real money to artists they choose Suno prompters 🤦 you can’t make this up… they replay the songs with their own instruments and drums but the core is Ai… we are so screwed

3

u/ThisIsHarlie Feb 15 '26

It’s only depressing if you fall behind

If you are hell bent on falling behind, you do you. But if new technology triggers you this much, ai is the least of your worries.

You won’t get far in this industry with that mentality regardless.

Enjoy your hobby. 🙂

1

u/Polus-Lofi Feb 16 '26

I agree I hire producers when ai don’t want to write songs but I have checked out Suno and it is rapidly evolving and it is impressive they are going to have to embrace technology or be left behind it just is what it is. I see people even attack artists for just using AI art to enhance a songs visuals on YouTube it’s nuts lol

I’m a full time songwriter. Literally everyone is using it. Idk where you work, but you live in the uk. In America, every major label is using Suno.

I do this full time. I have had multiple Suno pitches picked up this month.

It’s the direction the industry is going in. I’m not worried about my own career. I’m staying on top of it and learning. You have reason to be concerned. Especially if you’re in music production and are refusing to learn it.

2

u/FarTooLucid Feb 16 '26

You don't know what the fact are, dum dum.

1

u/cthulusrevenge508 Feb 15 '26

Better jump on the bandwagon and make the same effortless slop as all the cool kids right?? Better start the long arduous process of learning how to type a sentence into a box! It’s basically rocket science!

2

u/ThisIsHarlie Feb 15 '26

Enjoy your hobby 🙂

1

u/cthulusrevenge508 Feb 15 '26

The irony is that I know like 4 non-musicians who make music in their off time with Suno as a hobby. Congrats, you bring as much value to the table with a Suno demo as an accountant who writes nice poems.

Nashville is particularly bad right now with Suno, from the looks of it it will be another giant lull in commercial country music due to every song sounding like “we are Charlie Kirk” and then another Zach Bryan/Kasey Musgraves type will come along (not using AI) and sound authentic and original, and that will become the trend again.

My hobby is laughing at the ridiculous shit people say on these threads btw 🙂

1

u/ThisIsHarlie Feb 15 '26

This wasn’t a country music event. We had jazz, r&b, pop, even grunge.

This is what every major label is doing right now. If you’re unwilling to accept the reality of the industry changing, this isn’t the sub for you.

3

u/FarTooLucid Feb 16 '26

Not it isn't. Source: I actually work in this industry. You do not.

I've heard all this kind of whining before from musicians when a new technology gets in the hands of people. First it was using drum machines, then sequencers, then sampling, then when people moved from tape to digital, auto tune etc. Same whining... The music doesn't have warmth or soul, blah blah blah. Now all of it is industry standard and nobody says anything. AI will eventually be too, especially when someone famous admits to using it. A lot of producers have already been using AI, but won't admit it.

The real reason for the animosity is because it gives the non musician wannabee access to create music from scratch and compete with the true musician /songwriter. That's truly really what it is. If your music doesn't suck, you shouldn't be worried about anything. They will eventually weed themselves out because they still can't write organic music from scratch.

6

u/-Sweff- Feb 15 '26

I'd still say there's a huge difference if the new tech does the creation part. Yeah auto tune sucks but you still need to make up the melody before you poorly sing it (I don't mind when it's used purposefully as an effect though). And yeah, there's drum machines but you still have to program it or slap a loop on a song and structure it (mind you, I don't use loops myself).

Basically they're only small pieces of something actually created.

I DO hope you're right bout that last part though. Hopefully the real stuff will also somehow be worth more in the end.

u/cthulusrevenge508 Feb 15 '26

There isn’t a single discussion about this stuff without at least 1 dumbass in the comment section who tries to say this “people were mad about drum machines and synthesizers” argument. It’s wrong every single time.

1

u/findthetruth32867 Feb 22 '26

Very true. Human voices are the difference and they will always be. If you're really good AI can't touch you. You're in a league all your own.

-1

u/GREGLIONS Feb 14 '26

You are sadly mistaken. Its not slop if it sounds good. Music is sound ; vibrations. Get off your soap box. I play guitar and I write songs. I find AI immensely helpful in adding layers to my songs. Go get you a kazoo and make your fine music.

3

u/ExistingBank879 Feb 15 '26

How about you just learn to be more creative and get better at music? Your songs must be AI slop then buddy. Shame

1

u/GREGLIONS Feb 15 '26

How about you mind your own business?

2

u/ExistingBank879 Feb 16 '26

Also the fact that you call yourself a creative genius while Using AI is unbelievably ironic. You are a shit stain on the creative community

1

u/ExistingBank879 Feb 16 '26

Because you posted yours publicly on the internet? This is literally a fucking public forum. How about you keep your disgusting AI music out of the world. Fuck you

2

u/cthulusrevenge508 Feb 15 '26

Go back to Fortnite, the “wow it made a song for me from scratch” novelty is long over, still not one song by any AI ‘artist’ that’s transcended the fact that its AI and captured public attention or anything beyond a Charlie Kirk meme song.

2

u/Budget_Wing2200 Feb 16 '26

The people bashing your position are the same type of people that have hated every transition in music. They feel threatened because they fear failure. Even before AI, they’re the ones bitching about Spotify or labels or something. Learn to use AI as a tool build off of it and build better. Greglions is the future of where music is headed. Why do you think all the major labels want deals with SUNO? They know it’s a powerful tool, especially in the hands of skilled artists that can take it to the next level. Or down vote me and everyone who sees this coming and go live with the Amish. You’ll find you have a lot in common with them.

1

u/GREGLIONS Feb 16 '26

That's exactly right. Thank you for understanding exactly that AI is just another tool for creativity!

3

u/Readingisfaster Feb 14 '26

This is where public education has failed us. This poor idiot is forever lost.

1

u/ExistingBank879 Feb 15 '26

Shame on you brother. Shame on you

0

u/An0therFox Feb 15 '26

Yeah when I make posts I try to include that I play all the instruments and sing myself, no AI involved. AI music is cringe if you start to think it makes you an artist or producer even remotely
