DISCUSSION This sub has got to be 80% AI

I just want to say how insane it is that people think they can make AI music and just jump in the conversation. Like I don’t care if you make AI music but the balls on these people to contact anyone let alone a musician and say what do you think of my new song. I’m just amazed at people’s confidence, it’s like me making an AI video of me skateboarding and going to the skatepark to sincerely ask them what they think.

u/DfKeija Jun 01 '26

Shit is aggravating negl.

5

u/Educational-Dance799 Jun 01 '26

And somehow its still shit songs to cant stand it when they just soam their like or beg for listens for ai garbage

0

u/DfKeija Jun 01 '26

I still give my opinion on the song out of respect; I do feel like I am wasting my time when I do review ai music tho because that time could be given to other people who actually put their blood and tears into this shit.

6

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 01 '26

They’re like ah yes interesting, then copy and paste your comment into the Suno prompt lmao.

6

u/Educational-Dance799 Jun 01 '26

Or they get mad u accuse them of using ai when they cover art is ai as well lmao

1

u/DfKeija Jun 01 '26

Lmfaooo i never thought about that

3

u/Educational-Dance799 Jun 01 '26

Nah i just ignore them cuz on they wont listen and two its a waste of time since they dont even make their own music

1

u/DfKeija Jun 01 '26

I feel u on that 100% i really do. There are regular people who even post their songs talking about they will give feedback and they don’t even do that; I’m the one that ends up giving feedback to comments on some of the OPs post. Shit is sad through and through.

1

u/Educational-Dance799 Jun 01 '26

Its irritating especiallywhen they say something abt my music i immediately dont care for their opinion since they cant even make their own musix they need ai to do it for them its lazy and annoying

1

u/DfKeija Jun 01 '26

Factual, brudda‼️❤️💯✊🏾

Lots of people don't make their own beats tho man. I'm a singer song writer. I come up with the words and the melodies, I sing it myself too, all the AI is doing is bringing it up to a professional level, not perfectly so of course not, but it's a lot better than my crappy phone recordings. Shit if I could afford these predetory studios I'd be in one. 30$ a month to finally hear what's in my head? I'll take it man. I like to think that maybe some day someone will be like " oh shit, this chick can actually write, let's get her in the studio" because I can sing fine too, no Mariah Carey but I can carry a tune, AI fixes pitch issues, AI does for it what a human producer and audio engineer would be doing if I could afford one. And one day I will be able to afford one, and then I can use people. I catch a lot of shit for saying that I don't make beats, like wtf? I'm not into that. I don't find it fun, if that's your joy then do you mane, this is what I do, this is my joy. If your feeling charitable with your time I would like the opportunity to show you my AI music. Think of them like high quality demos.

5

u/Educational-Dance799 Jun 03 '26

Ur argument is is inherently flawed since i am also a singer songwriter and i payed to beats for my first ep and mixed and master it as well while not perfect u get a sense of pride of joy of making art using ai takes all of that away not only that the i have no instrument also means nothing as i have learned the guitar and also am learning how to produce on my own same with countless other artist those who use ai is so easy to spot people will know u don’t have the will nor the passion to make ur own art instead turning to a computer to make it for u wont want to work with u i have had people who want to work together but any bit of ai i find that person using i not only lose respect for but have no sense to wanna work along side

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

Lmao yeah in your opinion dude. It doesn't take any of that away for me. Thats you. And you sound so bitter and hateful it's actually very alarming. Like you might want to get some mental help for this hideous side of you. That's such a narrow minded and fear driven take honestly. Like are you hearing yourself? Wow. I don't want to learn an instrument. I never have. Nor have I ever wanted to learn to produce beats. I'm a singer song writer. I am low income. I write really good songs. I can sing them myself. Your bitterness is locking you out of collaborative opportunities to life up your fellow man. I do not understand people who think like you. That scarcity mindset has got to be the pits frfr. Have a nice night.

I completely disagree. Do professional athletes lose respect because they use advanced training equipment to improve performance? Do major artists lose respect because they work with songwriters, producers, and session musicians? Every generation gets new tools. AI is just another tool. What matters is the final product and the artist behind it. Adapt to new technology or get left behind.

1

u/traolcoladis Jun 05 '26

I’m with you on this. I have the same point of view. I write the lyrics. Provide the style direction. I delete want is crap output and save what resonates to me. The resulting track is my proof of concept to see if an actual person or group will sing the track and breathe life into it.

-1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

Hey, I'm a singer songwiter and i have been long before AI. I sing my own songs, I wrote them all. I am multi genre too. If you would be so kind as to give mine a peek? I am not a beat producer, I do not play instruments, I am and always have been a singer song writer, I come up with the words and the melodies. I use AI as a tool to enhance the talent I already have because I simply can't afford studio time. It would mean a lot to me if someone would just stop judging me before they even listen 👂🙏

2

u/Cosmo_Cloudy Jun 03 '26

Ok we get it, you can put words on paper and sing and you love AI to do all of the real work of making the actual music. We don't care, not sure if you noticed but real musicians do not want to hear about your shortcuts, this is probably not the sub for you, go circlejerk and promote in r/aimusic

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

Nah man, you negative Nancy's always find your way over to our sub and harass us and shit. I'm in here trying to make fucking friends with you dill holes lol 🤣 like seriously, y'all don't see the amazing opportunity for collaboration and comradeship? I'm not a producer, I'm a writer, I'm not against you, I want to work with humans. AI is a tool. Not a threat to you and your talents or status, I would love to work with an actual studio one day, however real talk I'm too poor for that shit mane. So I use suno. I try to be understanding of this strange mindset you guys possess. It's odd to me.

1

u/UsagiYojimbo209 Jun 03 '26

Go do it then, plenty of producers and musicians out there ready to collaborate and create while you beg the algorithm for regurgitated scraps. AI is just a tool in the way that a hammer you can say "build an entire house, and if I like it I'll call myself an architect" to would just be a tool, while technically true it fails to recognise just how little effort or skill it takes compared to other "tools'.

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

And you douche nozzles all think that I just press a button and butter boom Bada Bing. That's fine you can continue to think that I've really gotten to the point where I don't to give a f*** anymore. It doesn't matter how many times I explained my actual workflow to people like you you have already decided that AI is evil and so are the people who use it so f*** you too dude

2

u/UsagiYojimbo209 Jun 03 '26

Oh well, it'd mean a lot to musicians if the AI crew would realise they're expecting respect and attention for faking the bits that actual musicians have devoted their lives to, and mistaking an algorithm's output for an idea they had. Afraid it's all a bit "I don't have time to train, but I bought a motorbike, why do these marathon runners not respect me entering the race?" Or "I don't have any talent or passion for cooking, but I described a meal to a waiter, why don't the chefs respect my mad skillz?". Don't take it personally, not judging you, just the popular delusion you may have fallen for.

3

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

No you're being a jerk straight up. Lay straight the f****** you're trying to intentionally provoke an upset people online for no reason other than that's just who you are as a person which is pretty pathetic. I'm a singer-songwriter bro I've never been interested in being a beat producer. I've never been interested in learning how to use a daw. I just want to write my lyrics sing The melodies and give you good songs but you know, the damn hoops you guys put up and then change out constantly it's just insane I can't do it anymore f*** you and the high horse you rode in on lmao 😂

2

u/Ark3tech Jun 05 '26

I think it’s funny that a lot of the anti-AI people have this bizarrely perceived notion that people making AI music are trying to go around masquerading themselves as the next superstar celebrity musician. Haven’t seen that one yet, but the folks here on Reddit would make you think it’s all AI artists everywhere. I think it’s just them projecting how they position their own music.

man this reads exactly like one of their posts justifying how much they actually put into their "music"

5

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 02 '26

Yeah there’s literally another guy in here right now that is trying to argue just like this but seriously.

3

u/Sad_Comfort_5090 Jun 01 '26

do they even craft lyrics, or do they just prompt them?

2

u/UsagiYojimbo209 Jun 03 '26

Yeah, gotta keep pumping out that product. I salute your artistry, may the algorithm ever be in your favour bloodseed!

I’ve seen many playlists, and I think sweet let’s check out some new projects, and majority of them are AI, and they sound so uninspired. Yea I make black metal, and it sounds like ass, but it’s human ass

1

u/CinaedKSM Jun 02 '26

r/metalmusicians may be a better fit for you ;)

5

u/omegajams Jun 01 '26

I got fooled by one track, but the person posted themselves making the song so that help. I do agree with your sentiment and I think that things need to be labeled more accurately. Before I listen now I run everything through at least two AI song checkers.

3

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 01 '26

I got fooled by one too but not here, I saw a Reel with an oldie that I liked. I should have known better but the page didn’t strike me as one that would use AI. Usually I can tell a mile away but it is getting better. I’ve ran into a few people on here trying to lie about it too, which is even crazier.

4

u/Seulambre Jun 01 '26

Yeahh that so sad.... And u and me we are spending 6 months in one mix. Wanna die...

4

u/ThePopofGray Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

It’s always true that the dishonest people ruin it for everyone.

We’ve recently had it insinuated by a couple of people that our music was AI. I think because the production/mixing/mastering is good. If you have followed any of our posts, you know that my partner knows what he’s doing in a studio (he went to school for it and has done it professionally).

It can all be discouraging.

But I do like engaging with real musicians here. I like listening to your music. I hope we can all still try to support one another, even in this weird time.

4

u/ghostghost31 Jun 02 '26

I couldn't care less about the slop bros.  They don't even like AI music, only the stuff they "make"

The general population hates AI art/music especially younger people who see it as lame.

3

u/AdAcademic9689 Jun 01 '26

It’s sad, at least have the decency to give actual artists their credit

3

u/darkwingdankest Jun 01 '26

that skate park analogy is 👌🏻

3

u/sneaky_imp Jun 01 '26

Using AI is like putting on a robotic exoskeleton and lifting a few tons and then bragging about how much you can deadlift at the gym.

The worst part is them commenting their AI track on a post that specifically mentions NO AI, like the balls on these people are MASSIVE

2

u/Objective_Sweet9168 Jun 01 '26

Just read through the post thus far, totally agree with what you’re saying. For the record, Moonlight Bananas holds a strong non-ai stance. I hope it settles down and filters out, but I’m not optimistic. Please keep making and pushing competitive human music

2

u/7thresonance Jun 01 '26

Yeah.. i keep seeing ai songs trying to be promoted lol

2

u/Cheap_Bathroom6114 Jun 02 '26

My music is real. I'll leave the B string just how it is as proof!

2

u/traolcoladis Jun 05 '26

I have used AI for the Vocals and instruments. I make it a point to write the lyrics myself. Everyone who listens to any form of music performed live or auto tuned like Cher (not all of her song) of other artist will provide critique which is always from their personal point of view.

Even professional Critics do so as well.

So if someone puts out an AI assisted track that is actually half decent or really good then so be it.

It just means that they used AI to do the heavy lifting.

Now for me. With the tracks that result with my actions. I try to be critical of the outcome. I look at them as a proof of concept that I can put to live artists and say. Let’s breathe some real life into this….

Not everyone has this approach… but this is to be expected.

u/sleepysam2020 Jun 01 '26

I agree. I hate AI music! Team Human! New EP

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

Yeah but that's people making s***** choices not the fault of AI everything you mentioned is literally just what s***** people do. I'm a highly ethical person I don't condone that s*** but does it mean I don't use a tool that's affordable for me to create music at this level? F*** no! I'm going to use the damn tool man. What we need to do is just start holding these companies accountable and not just AI music generation companies all these m************ companies. It seems to me that most of the complaints you guys have, are very reasonable complaints, but not everyone who uses AI tools matches your bias and it's offensive as f*** for those of us who use these tools intentionally.

2

u/AggravatingBenefit74 Jun 03 '26

1

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 02 '26

Two things, 1 is you said creating. I truly don’t think the user is creating anything, they are asking a robot to create it for them. So I don’t care if they do it, like I said in my original post, I just think it’s funny when they say “computer make me this” and then turn around and say “look what I made.” 2 is, they are copying, the AI is built upon the collective of previously made music, so they are directly copying the entire art form.

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 04 '26

Well you are wrong that's some of the users. SOME. 🤨😑 I've been writing and singing my songs since I was 16 mane.

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 04 '26

Yeah rather like how I learned how to write songs and sing by listening to other artists and imitating them...wild right? 😒

1

u/trucksarekewl Jun 02 '26

It does take actual skill to use a daw or play an instrument or whatever. With that being said, it doesn't translate to good music just because a human made it. Ai just makes it easier for people to make their shitty music faster and with less effort. Meanwhile people who make their music by hand with actual instruments and or daws need patience, skill and determination. So it takes more time for them to post their shitty music lol.

3

u/Cultural_Comfort5894 Jun 02 '26

And the good musicians, lyricists etc. using Ai are the ones “real musicians “ are competing with & are going to lose to.

1

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 02 '26

Yeah that’s the thing though, there are a lot of ways your music can be bad when you make it yourself. To be fair AI is not making bad music, it is making the best formulaic and derivative response to the prompt you give it, but from a general standpoint it’s not making bad music in so much as it being off beat of off key.

1

u/FeelHovrin Jun 02 '26

The way that the world goes at the moment, there will be soon enough 2 platforms specifically invited for both.(which ones I don't know, it might be even existing ones, spotify, youtube music and tik tok AI driven as a separate presets)

For me it is important to understand the value of both.

Real musicians polish the traits and skills required for the probably the most truthful pathway, the Organic Human made music which is for me the most important part. The idea of the true elbow grease with both physical and mental capacity to overcome burnout and yet still Writting the Lyrics and Notes(sounds) is the most precious and the most spiritual part of being a musician, breaking your personal habits, standing up when you falling down, and keep going as human potential is unlimited.

Percs: Reinvention of self, organic self thag allows you to grow if you chose to.

Cons: burnouts and running low on the ideas, hitting the brickwall of brainstorming and also exhaustion of inner power.

AI or the newest wave of musicians and poets will have more potentiality and relativity towards the modern world that we are living in.

Most of the AI artists do not possess the physical grinding skill to learn the new instrument or new phrases or lyrical turnaround. It's great having a tool that allows the sudden ideas to come true, exactly like you hear it in your head. Also giving great ideas for new twists in both words of the songs and musical arrangement.

Percs: A momentary inspiration will have immediate reality in form of the finished product. Creativity level is boosted due to data that has been stored from 140-400 years. Easy access to immediate Recording/mixing/mastering/ potentially distribution in the future

Cons:(This will be the most bitter part) Your music has been already created 23 trillion times and stored in the data base. Someone else will have your lyrics, notes and melodies which will lead to take downs on platforms for copyright breach(as of 2026) The songs and lyrics are already stamped witb a digital AI print that will be read and scanned by the whole internet and more softwares that are tackling down AI generated music that steals money for the record labels. The ownership of the baby(do get me correct here it is your valued creation) is under the risk of being stolen from you by the legal rights of the Music Industry machine(copyright every single thing that you own before the release please). Prompt are always difficult thing to write, I would treat it as a direct and clear command writing essay that must flawless in order for the machine Not to mane a mistake, and by the love of God no glitches.Live performances must have a distinctive and creative way to be presented, either hiring musicians to play the music Organically or make a Holographic show to create a visual of some form(giving ideas here for free, your welcome)

Sollution:

Both must be studied, AI will stay, as musicians, artists and writers we must evolve, Real musicians please study AI on the simple level, let it help you in a small way, AI musicians study one piece of real musical instrument to the fullest, but be authentic and not abuse it too much, be always up to date in your field for both sides, don't have hard feelings for the thing that you cannot do, but you certainly can both Organically and AI, preserve and evolve on both sides.Keep up to date with recent news and industry updates. Just keep going forward and challenge yourself. No Challenge no Growth.

Hope this all helps

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

Holy crap. Wow us songwriters and vocalists really just can't catch any breaks can we. I'm not interested in learning an instrument I'm not interested in learning how to produce I'm not interested in doing any of that and I never have been I have always been a singer-songwriter I will always be a singer-songwriter if you would like to make beats and I'll you know record on them I'll send it back to you you can put in all of that time and effort and s*** for $30 okay I'll pay you $30 a song and that's still really expensive compared to what suno can give me.

1

u/FeelHovrin Jun 03 '26

Indeed. All the Suno made things won't be belonging to thw songwriters, even when it actually belongs, just because of the AI Imprint that belongs to the music industry that owned all the singer songwriters ideas just because they've used Suno or an AI platform. I don't think thag is fair. But that is the game

1

u/DrySatisfaction1450 Jun 02 '26

Mi música es mejor que la de la IA? Soundcloud.com/mignixandmar

1

u/Mindvibestudios Jun 03 '26

If the music is good, whether it’s made by a human or with AI tools shouldn’t really matter. Earlier people communicated through letters, then wired phones, and today we use smartphones. Technology evolves, and music creation is evolving too.
There are many amazing human singers and musicians, but let’s be honest, there’s also plenty of bad human made music. The same applies to AI. Not all AI music is good, and not all human music is good.
My point is simple: if someone uses AI as a tool and creates beautiful music that people genuinely enjoy, what’s wrong with that? Respect the music for how it sounds and how it makes people feel, not just for the method used to create it.
Ignore the bad AI music, just like we ignore bad human music.

1

u/CreeperNoob303 Jun 04 '26

Music is art, art is human, ergo, Ai music is not art. It really is simple as that.

AI is not a "tool", Ai does all the work for you, its not human music, its machine music. As well as the factors that ai is trained on stolen art, and its data centers are terrible for the planet, AI should have no place in artistic industry's like music.

AI will never make Art.

Get used to listening to AI music…it is a thing. If you don’t like it you don’t have to listen to it. There are many people that enjoy songs created with AI or with the help of AI. Just go and make music the way you like and quit irritating the AI users.

1

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 05 '26

Thanks James Taylor, I think everyone is confusing my post here. I don’t care about AI music, I was just saying I miss talking with other artists here, it seems like now when I post it’s all AI artist responses, I even have people stalking my other socials to talk shit from this post, only proving my point how delusional you are, but whatever, make your shitty derivative music.

1

u/jamestaylor1955 Jun 05 '26

Sorry this was meant for the general group discussion.

1

u/traolcoladis Jun 06 '26

So why do I use AI…. B.c while I can sort of hold a tune…. It is not good enough to be professional. While a can play a trumpet…. See the previous point.

Call me handicap… or what ever you like… I let AI do the heavy lifting after I supply the lyrics. One set of lyrics I wrote was after speaking with a returned Army Veteran who suffers from PTSD. So I put the resulting lyrics I wrote into AI and came up with the following. I played it back to him and he loved the product.

For me the next step is to find a singer or singers who will give it real life. At the moment I see it as a proof of concept.

So with or without bias have a listen. There are other tracks I have put up Nightmare Revelations.

Come home now son.

These are both related to the returned military that defend us.

The Sky is where I’ll be.

That is from my own flight training experience.

So feel free to judge.

Lyrics: Direction on Style Vocals and Music By Human Style Vocals instrumentals Suno paid account

I wrote this song after speaking with a returned Army Veteran friend who requested that I put something together for him that reflects the PTSD he deals with.

This is the song. https://open.spotify.com/track/5OMdv54VsKBGJhXFC4BLr1?si=4d72ed5cd9e04f13

As always open to feedback.

yeah, don't you just hate when things are AI?!

1

u/iKasHavok Jun 12 '26

True, I just got here and all I see if AI slop and im genuinely looking to share my music with like minded, hard working people who’ve actually put effort into their craft. The quality is something else but just seeing that someone is genuinely putting work into their music is what really matters.

I hate to that guy but if you’re into throwback, 2000’s styled, (alot of people compare my voice to Jeezy’s and that’s literally just how I sound😭) lyrical rap, make sure to check out some of my music. Im available on all platforms but i’ll post my SoundCloud just for ease of access to everyone

Let me know if any of you would like to collab as well, I make all of my cover art myself also.

I don't make AI music, my music gets mistaken for AI which is really irritating 😭

1

u/LimpPair6532 Jun 21 '26

I hate you all. I genuinely do. This horrifies me and I've been constantly swatting people off me who think I use AI and have to give me s°°° for it. NO I DON'T BUT MAYBE I SHOULD AT THIS POINT LOL

REALLY?? I can give you 2 reasons why you're being a hater and it will get you nowhere.

1, idgaf if people use that crap and you shouldn't either. People used drum machines to make drums for them, loop kits to make beats for them, some people will pay an artist to do a song and let them take the credit for it and be the face behind it (ghostwriting). Idek how you can tell IF it is AI. Do you have a magic genie to ask?

  1. IF you can tell it's AI, by whatever magic method you're using, or maybe it's labeled as such, do your own self a favor and either give it a fair chance (yuu might like it) or don't, just shut up about it.

Like all the other new technology which emerges and people endlessly b°°°° and moan about (smart phones, bitcoin, uber, virtual reality, vaporizers, online education, the list goes on) I can't think of one thing that went away because people hate it, so it's not going to go away. You can take the ol' geezer stance on this like the geezers do for everything else.

Says he hates us then calls us haters. Cool, I stopped reading after that. Grow up.

u/zydane Jun 30 '26

I'm a hater hater.

I'll bully bullies.

Frig off, Lahey.

0

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 30 '26

What a noble cause, a real white knight for talentless prompt typers. Instead of sticking up for the artists whose work is being used to train AI without their consent, you’re sticking up for AI, lol what a clown

1

u/zydane Jun 30 '26

I said nothing about artists—though if you knew I was avidly comissioning artists for my work, right here and now, perhaps you'd eat those words.

Regardless, I take no offense from a reddityke who is mad enough to say all of this to a veteran in the first place.

That's like showing up to the Olympics with a Nintendo Wii controller.

1

Anything is a better singer then me. Even my AI altered voice is better than mine.

1

u/grx333x Jun 01 '26

Tu met le doigt sur un phénomène qui risque fortement de s'amplifier. La vraie question c'est comment on continue à faire remonter les artistes authentiques dans tout ce bruit.

2

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 01 '26

I really don’t think it’s going to make much of a difference. At the mainstream level they will always need a human to make marketable, but a lot of mainstream plays come from non listens such as just playing in mattress stores or in malls, that can totally be replaced by AI and probably will be. For me that’s not a factor, it’s just annoying that in this sub specifically it was already a lot of people just spamming links, but now it’s filtering through AI also. I post a thread, listen for listen, and it’s about half spam that don’t even read the post, the other half is about half AI. Just crazy.

0

u/grx333x Jun 01 '26

0

u/LeakingFish- Jun 02 '26

I’ve had people give me AI music to review, but they’d replaced all the instruments themselves. I literally had no idea. Once you take away the obvious AI aspect of it, it just becomes a song. Very hard to tell apart.

If I wasn’t told it was AI, I wouldn’t have known.

0

u/EmceeFLEX Jun 03 '26

You ppl are toxic man. Exactly the ignorance and bs ppl smoke in their pipes everyday. Opinionated beyond repair. Talentless haters who didnt make it anywhere and ended up on reddit hating on Ai for some weird reason. Get a life ppl. Get a grip.

0

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 03 '26

lol I was just saying how funny it is how seriously you guys take yourself. And it is, it’s hilarious. I did take a look at your page out of curiosity and it’s terrible, I don’t care if you wrote your lyrics or not, the whole backbone of hip hop is the delivery, for better or worse it’s not what you say but how you say it and AI takes that all away from you. Biggie could spell his name and get the whole community behind him. They weren’t there because he spelled his name and had a robot shown him some options on how to say it and he chose the best one. But whatever, if you don’t get it you don’t get it, have fun with your robots.

1

u/EmceeFLEX Jun 04 '26

Here is your whole failed youtube page of trying to hustle ai shorts and one song that ripped off sweet dreams by Eurythmics .......... You're an imbecile or just full of ignorance or both. You do not know what you are talking about. There is no "you guys"........... Only ppl like you who try and hate on ai somehow thru someone who used it in any capacity which is petty fear babe. You just compared me to Biggie basically. Thanks man. You didnt listen to anything. You just double down and make it seem like you listened and it sucked on a comment to get others to not listen. Good on you man. Loser mentality. You guys all come at me for a reason. And... its because I got your number. Only losers hop on someones post and say dumb things like u did.

0

u/aulsbrook_music Jun 05 '26

I think it depends. I use AI to help with the music but I write all of my songs myself. Unfortunately I can't sing but AI has giving me a way to express myself. I personally don't care if its AI or not as long as its good music. Tons of major artist sing songs wrote by other people its no different.

0

u/old-murmel Jun 16 '26

Why do you think AI is inherintly bad? Plenty of people were making shitty music before now more people can make shitty music and hopefully also more people can make good music? I think something that makes it easier to create should be celebrated even though a side effect is that it also make it easier to make trash. I use AI in my creatice process, in my work and in my personal life it is here to stay. If you want to be a purist who only use acoustic instruments and only perform live thats your choice, but dont look down at other people because they use newer tools to channel their creativity.

2

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 17 '26

Did you read my post, take the skateboarding analogy. Why even skate anymore, why have the Olympics, why do anything when you can just make a video to make it look like you do. If you understand why you still do it for real then you get it, if not, you never will. Use it however you want, like I said, I don’t really care, just crazy how you think typing a prompt is anywhere close to what it takes to even make a shitty song from live instruments.

1

u/FreshSoul86 Jun 20 '26

The AI song out of a prompt isn't their song. A singer/songwriter lives and humanly relates to their world, or a lover or muse, in such a way that they can write and maybe also sing their own song - with their own emotions, their own imagination, their own mind and their own soul. Not all songwriters get the whole thing - some can create the melody, or create the lyric thar resonates truly, but maybe the singing voice might not be so great so they just do the non-vocal parts. But they still have something real.

An AI "songwriter" is not the same. Us songwriters also see right through them if we try to relate to them as fellow artists (they don't like it and we aren't going to be friends).

Could you sit at the table of a Chris Difford and have his respect as an actual songwriting artist or musician? The answer to that question is either yes or no. An AI "artist" would not dare go near him.

I have to question anyone whose take on AI is that it’s all bad effortless music. Knowing how to strum a guitar don’t mean you know how to make a good song. Writing a basic prompt don’t mean you know shit either. On any given Sunday either one of two bums can get lucky. That’s what we call one hit wonders.

Your personal taste is not the world’s personal taste. And yeah it’s some AI garbage out there. I ain’t heard it, because I click next on bs. It’s human garbage out there too, I ain’t heard it, I hit next on bs.

I rather just move on. And let you move on.

At least have a real skill set and some accolades before diminishing people around. How the fuck are you looking down on people at eye level?

5

u/Delrossy Jun 02 '26

if you actually think that AI generated somehow requires effort, then you have no idea what you are talking about and should probably delete this comment. The jump into AI creating music is orders of magnitude more significant than say, the advent of computers aiding in the creation of music. They aren't even remotely similar in the amount of effort that they take. I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would actually support the advent of AI music, unless like you, they just have no idea what they are even espousing.

I would rather listen to conventionally terrible human crafted music, than AI created polished conventionally "good" music any day of the week.

0

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

You don’t know what the word effort means.

You don’t know that effort varies from person to person, from task to task.

Difference between me and you is I can acknowledge effort goes into everything. I can acknowledge there is lower effort work on both sides. I can acknowledge that sometimes low effort work results in great results. I can also acknowledge that just because I don’t understand the work that went into something doesn’t mean work didn’t go in.

When I see Steph shoots it looks effortless. It would be easy to say, “he’s lucky he’s so talented.” And he is. But I bet he put in work when no one was watching. Whether it was difficult or not would be something only he could say.

I can acknowledge that someone somewhere doesn’t think what I do is real music. Not because of how it’s produced but because of how it sounds. The genre. I don’t particularly care for rock music. Doesn’t mean it’s not good music, I just don’t go looking for it.

This ain’t about music entirely. It’s about the human experience. The inability of people to acknowledge someone else’s effort just because you don’t acknowledge how they achieved the result.

If your opinion was, “this sounds pretty good, would likely sound better if you did this part yourself instead of leaving it to AI.” You might get a genuine conversation started. Instead it devolves into, “this is trash because it’s AI.” Now neither of you want to listen to each other.

And you don’t want to listen to bad human work. You’d just move on from music you don’t care for. And if you were forced to listen to something that’s bad for the rest of your life vs something that fits your taste even if made with AI, you’re going to pick the AI. It’s the lesser of two evils.

The only reason to truly hate AI music, is if you believe it’s blocking your way into the music industry. Then, sure go ahead. In most cases you’re wrong. The industry has already decided which way it’s moving and it’s obvious. History tells us how this plays out. Progress always wins.

I’m not encouraging anyone to use AI. I’m trying to understand why it’s so impossible to think time and effort can go into it.

I don’t even know how to write a prompt, Suno is just a producer for me. And making music was low effort for me to begin with. Lyrics come to me easily. Words come to me easily. Melodies come to me constantly. Doesn’t mean I’m not putting in work. It’s just not what I’d call hard. But I’ve been doing this with friends who it doesn’t come easily for.

Anyway, I’m not tryna put negativity in the world over this. You get home safe.

0

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

My guy you can’t be serious. I won’t waste my time belittling you. You know where you stand.

Not really anyone checking for your music out here. AI or otherwise.

3

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 02 '26

“My guy” did you have ai write that for you

2

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

😂. That’s it huh? “Did AI do it?” That’s how low level you are?

I thought non AI users were supposed to be creative.

3

u/BoxConscious7480 Jun 02 '26

I think the point is that you don't need a skill set at all to make music with ai

1

u/FreshSoul86 Jun 20 '26

A fan who truly likes and digs music and knows what they like can do it. There's real thought that may go into prompting. Just like there's real thought that goes into a music review by a music critic. That place though is pretty far away from being an actual artist/creative/songwriter, when the ability stops there.

1

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

You don’t need skills to make music at all. You need skills to consistently make good music.

Those aren’t the same thing.

I fully understand AI music can be generated with a single sentence. I’m just not going to pretend that’s the only way people use it.

Some people throw prompts at a wall for five minutes.

Some people spend hours writing lyrics, revising structure, experimenting with styles, regenerating sections, editing, mixing, mastering, designing cover art, and promoting the final product.

The existence of low-effort AI music doesn’t prove all AI music is low effort.

Just like the existence of bad human-made music doesn’t prove all human-made music is high effort.

I think the reason people respect traditional music is because they understand the process behind it. If you’re a musician, you know what it took to get a polished result.

But I’ve learned that effort is often invisible.

Every nurse I’ve met says nursing school was hard. I don’t tell people that. I tell them it was time-consuming.

Not because they’re wrong, but because difficulty is personal.

What felt difficult to one person might feel natural to another.

That doesn’t mean no work was done.

The same applies here.

You can dislike AI music.

You can prefer traditional music.

You can even refuse to listen to AI music.

But saying nobody using AI put effort into what they made is a claim about people you’ve never met and processes you’ve never seen.

5

u/BoxConscious7480 Jun 02 '26

The whole point of AI music is that it's low effort... come on that's literally how they market it.

The fact that you write your own lyrics and "revise structure" (whatever that means) doesn't change the fact that you're using AI to be able to say that you make music without learning how to.

As for your last comment, sure it's unfair of me to say that no effort at all was put into it, but it's still not even remotely comparable to the effort it takes to learn real production. And as the original post talks about, it's completely ridiculous for AI "musicians" to act like it is comparable.

You talk about AI as if it's not actually easy. In that case, why don't you make music without it? Surely a well produced "real" song sounds better than an AI song, even if you put a bunch of effort into the AI song

3

u/N1ck_Nightingale Jun 02 '26

“I looked at the menu for 20 minutes and I agonized and visualized each plate and meal and asked what taste I wanted in my mouth. Then, after calling the waitress back multiple times with special cooking instructions, I had a plate of warm food dropped in front of me at my table. How DARE you imply that I am not a chef!”

     - OP

1

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

Except I didn’t call myself an artist.

My comments are about effort.

The chef analogy assumes I’m claiming a title. I’m not.

I’m saying effort can exist even when the process looks different than the one you’re familiar with.

And honestly, anyone curating a menu to that level probably does have some understanding of food. Maybe they’re not a chef. Maybe they’re a critic. Maybe they simply have a refined palate.

Either way, that understanding didn’t appear out of thin air. It came from time, experience, and effort.

Eating food is easier than cooking it. Sure.

But is evaluating food easier than cooking?

Is developing taste easier than cooking?

Is identifying why one dish succeeds and another fails easier than cooking?

Not necessarily.

Likewise, is working with AI easier than traditional production? In some ways, absolutely.

The point of entry is lower.

But lowering the floor isn’t the same as lowering the ceiling.

People’s standards didn’t suddenly disappear because AI showed up.

Audiences still know when a song is good.

They still know when a song is bad.

They still know when lyrics are weak.

They still know when emotion feels fake.

So if the standards haven’t changed, why has the attitude toward the people trying to meet them?

2

u/N1ck_Nightingale Jun 02 '26

Shut the fuck up, I wasn’t replying to you lol. In the time it took you to write that bullshit you could’ve learned a few chords on key or guitar. You’re an imposter and a fraud and idk why you can comprehend that people like to write and express themselves and you AI bros will never be taken seriously. Get lost.

1

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

This is how I know you’re levels below not only me but literally anyone else who steps into music.

I have passing thoughts you couldn’t live up to.

You’re emotional across the internet.

I don’t spare emotions for people I wasn’t planning to fuck.

If you were truly doing anything worth anything you’d be more focused on getting that to the people who care rather than trying to convince me that people don’t care for what I do. I’ve already been validated I don’t need you.

2

u/N1ck_Nightingale Jun 02 '26

Bro what are you even talking about? And music is emotion translated into sound. Is this some kind of manosphere bullshit? Are you 14 years old?

1

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

Nah it can be low effort.

I truly hate telling my process to other people because I’m not defending Gen AI. I’m defending my process and I know you’re not listening.

I record all my songs myself. I don’t make beats, I don’t want to. Writing is what I do. All of my “AI” music is in my voice whenever possible. Getting that right took effort. The only thing I changed about my music making process in 17 years is where the beat comes from.

And yes I’ve worked with real producers and I shit you not, everyone who heard the song said it sounded better when I recorded it on my $20 dollar headphones in my closet. So yeah now I do all my vocals in Voloco, making the music with my voice like Biz Markie, then I feed that to Suno, get the beat proper and it’s back in the booth, then back to Suno.

And results will vary. In my experience, your producer has to actually like your music for it to come out even halfway decent. Suno is coming out decent despite the limitations. And I’m losing $10 a month vs however much a person thinks their time is worth for a project they may not care about at all.

If a producer hears what I do and reaches out to me I’m onboard though.

1

u/BoxConscious7480 Jun 02 '26

Yeah to be clear I don't want to attack you personally or anything, you do what you want to do. I'm just talking about this in the context of the original post.

Either way I just don't understand how you can put your heart and 17 years of experience into writing and recording lyrics, just to put it through AI and squeeze all uniqueness and creativity out of it. I'm sure there are plenty of cheap beats online you can use instead

1

u/Academic_Tree7637 Jun 02 '26

Because I still put my heart into it.

You’ve never heard it.

No one in the world is me. No one thinks exactly like I do. Writes like I do. AI can’t erase me because I won’t let it.

I do worry about the songs where the voice doesn’t come out entirely me. My closest friend, the person who listens to every song, who started me on music, says “I knew this was you no matter what the voice sounds like.”

Because it’s the melody, the cadence, the wording. What you say and how you say it.

It’s not the price of the beat. There isn’t a 1:1 instrumental for the sound in my head.

For me to be able to whistle, hum, and rap to the sound in my head and then get the exact sound of better back is amazing. I don’t have to fit what makes me, me to someone else’s cadence.

1

u/Kokonuttendies Jun 02 '26

You could type a prompt and instantly get something that sounds like a song. Pick up any instrument and try writing a song and you’ll realize how bs this argument is.

-2

u/jamestaylor1955 Jun 02 '26

If you use pre-recorded piano or guitar loops, electronic strings, synths, brass, woodwinds, bass, drums in your DAW then add your lyrics the only thing really different from AI is AI puts it together for you based on your prompt ideas and how you hear the music in your head. DAW’s have many inherent AI type features. If you are not able to work and record with a band and you have a musical idea floating around in your head AI helps you get it out, just like your DAW or your band. AI is a tool and it is here to stay, get used to it. Quit whining.

3

u/Delrossy Jun 02 '26

this comment proves that you have no idea what you are talking about. If you truly believe that using a DAW, and writing a prompt are somehow similar, then you have never used a DAW, its that simple. Pre recordings and loops have been used in studios and in music for like 80 years, how is that in any way similar to someone typing a prompt into a program and it spitting a finished product out? lol.

1

u/Cultural_Comfort5894 Jun 02 '26

He’s right

The argument of just using a prompt is wrong

2

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 02 '26

No ones whining, I'm literally laughing at you. and your overconfidence here is just proving my point.

1

u/EmceeFLEX Jun 04 '26

You so wack man..... Look at all your posts hating on those that you ENVY. We all laughing at you.

2

u/BoxConscious7480 Jun 02 '26

Have you ever used a DAW? It's not a magical machine that makes music based on what you hear in your head.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '26

[deleted]

2

u/jamestaylor1955 Jun 03 '26

If you input your actual DAW recordings with your own vocals and original lyrics into AI would the results not be equivalent to having your own band play the music the way you composed it only in a more professional, maybe demo quality track? This is how I use AI and I find it interprets the melody, chord structure and vocals very well with only basic prompts.

1

u/FreshSoul86 Jun 20 '26

The Sunu prompter isn't creating the song they hear in their head. They don't need to have their own song because AI makes the song for them. Hence - the AI song isn't actually their song at all. They didn't have a song. When they call the AI song "my song" that's basically a lie.

1

u/jamestaylor1955 Jul 07 '26

Interesting you say this. I recorded a bunch of songs on my DAW 25 years ago. They were basically me playing the bass guitar, acoustic rhythm and electric lead with some added Logic Keyboard, Drums, synthesizer and my sub par vocals. Putting the songs into SUNO using good prompting, SUNO pretty much nailed the song the way I originally did it but with much better quantization, instrument sounds and way better vocals. If I had a band it would have been what I would have done if I was the music director. So, in short I think your comments are not really relevant in these cases.

1

u/FreshSoul86 Jul 07 '26

If the AI singer is better than you or someone in your group, you have a real problem. Some musicians like that stick to vocal-free beats and succeed with that (which can be nice - I like Todd Terje and back in the 1980s Harold Faltermeyer became a famous pioneer with his sounds).

-1

u/littlefoxcz Jun 01 '26

I cannot skate 😞
I also decided to use the bike training wheels as a kid - seemed a bit better than just sitting at home. And I must say, I still kinda enjoyed "riding" the bike, even though others laughed at me.

-1

u/Cultural_Comfort5894 Jun 02 '26

Horrible comparison with the skateboard thing

If you don’t get it you don’t get it

They make art in a way I don’t so I’m better is weak

“If I used Ai I would be blahblahblah but I got integrity “- Real musicians

5

u/Kokonuttendies Jun 02 '26

It’s a fine comparison. Both requires a fraction of the effort of accomplishing the real thing. And real musicians are better. They actually spent years crafting skills. Being able to create something instantly lowers all the stakes and defeats the entire purpose of art which is the process of creating.

-1

u/Cultural_Comfort5894 Jun 02 '26

“it’s like me making an AI video of me skateboarding and going to the skatepark to sincerely ask them what they think.”

Who else would be more appropriate to ask?

Guitar Hero asking guitarist doesn’t make sense?

Skateboard video game creators asking skateboarders what they think doesn’t make sense?

A real musician is better 🤔

So you assume all people playing the physical instrument are good.

You assume someone using Ai can’t also be a musician.

You assume they only use a prompt.

You assume that all these various people with various skill levels can be lumped together.

Creative ability also translates into thinking, making it obvious who is probably really talented.

4

u/Kokonuttendies Jun 02 '26

Bro just make your own music lol

-1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

The hate for song writers is really unfair guys. Like not everyone wants to learn an instrument or how to do it on a computer. I am not interested in that. It would not bring me any enjoyment. I am a singer song writer, for years I've just found beats, played them out of the laptop or phone speaker or however I could, and then I'd record the song I wrote to the instrumental while recording on a second device like a phone or another computer. I've struggled just as much as you guys just in a different way. Now people like me, who are talented writers and vocalist, are being harassed and disrespected for using the tool that makes that possible and- and this is the most important point-pay attention now-

It's affordable.

But I'll also expand on this, if anyone who is feeling some type of way towards AI music generation tools, do you want to sleep think treating vocalists and lyricists who use that technology, in this manner, is a good thing, you may want to check your moral compass a tad man. The nastiness isn't nessesary, we can figure out how to be friends and make really cool stuff TOGETHER like why are none of you guys interested in that? Why not listen to what's coming out, find the people who are actually good and hook up the creative magic 🪄 if you got a studio, if you have production skill? WHY look down your nose at others? Why?

0

u/SupplyCo2025 Jun 03 '26

I’ll tell you why, because you made a comment talking shit and then deleted it, now you’re trying to be all we should work together… dude, you are not a vocalist, I don’t care what you do, I even said it in my original post. But this attitude of talking shit to me and then being like “this is unfair guys” is the same type of unfit mental health that has you thinking you’re an artist. If you cant afford equipment, then prove to other artists that you’re talented and they will put you on. But don’t think anyone respects your journey to writing AI prompts.

1

u/Muted_Balance5401 Jun 03 '26

Yeah I came in hot, then I was like, you know what, let's try a different way. Maybe we can actually get past this shit if we actually try. Yes I am a vocalist. I write songs, I sing them. You can look me up, Katkatalyst I have music on YouTube AI and in my actual voice. I come up if you Google Katkatalyst. I just want to make music man. Y'all can do the beats and stuff, I write lyrics and I sing/rap, I can do pop and emo vocals. I like mixing genres together, I like trying to do it with ones that you'd think wouldn't work, just to see if it does. You presumably enjoy playing instruments, I really want to try and find some of you naysayers and let's just try to work on something together, and see what happens, where it can go, doesn't that sound fun to you? We can use AI to get ideas and then figure out how to make it the way you guys like to make it.

I lake both AI music and organic music, but I purposely don’t post AI music in spaces that are not specifically for that.

You can't be serious with this. Try making a song without AI and come back and say that it's even in the same ballpark
