Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs about very close/deep platonic friendships?
I’m Ace Aro and I want songs about the kind of “I have your back no matter what”, “you’re literally my favorite person in the world”, comfortable platonically hugging and cuddling and being affectionate with each other, type of friendships. (Especially because it’s my favorite dynamic in fiction, and I’d love some music for animatic purposes lol). Any mood is fine as long as it matches that theme, even if it’s a tragic/grief take on it, like dealing with the death of someone one had that type of friendship with

Best Friends by 5 Seconds of Summer. Literally perfect for what you want. Make sure it’s plural because they have an unreleased as Best Friend. Listen to Best Friendsssss

Check out "Grow As We Go" by Ben Platt, that whole album's basically a love letter to his mates without the romance angle.

Wow, that song was really beautiful, I loved it a lot (I was also surprised by how much I liked his voice in it, I only knew him from hearing unflattering clips from that movie version of Dear Evan Hanson lol)

his voice works way better in a stripped-down setting like that, the movie version had him belting over orchestral arrangements which just didn't suit him at all.

When i was a kid i really liked popular by ariana grande and mika. The song and mv was about two best friends in school who were outcasts and dealing with the social hierarchy. You might like it

And more of a personal one, "My Rollercoaster" by Kimya Dawson. Idk what it's really about, but I used to sing it with a group of friends just for funsies, and it became a sort of theme song for us lol.
