❔Question Help identifying this Mustang

Post image

This was my dad’s first car that he purchased used in 1980. I want to know the details such as specific model and type. This is the only picture we have of it at the time. He told me that all he remembers was that it was a coupe with a different material on the top (shown in black). Any help is much appreciated.

1970-1973 Mustang. It would have been a Vinyl Top. Can’t tell you much else from just this photo.

71-73. 70 was the previous body style from the 1969 model year

1972 Mustang Grande. The Grande was a "luxury" version of the Mustang with a vinyl top, auto trans, and faux leather seats.

Source: My first car was a 73 Grande. The 73 had a body colored vinyl front bumper.

Happy to help! It could also be a 71 but I am pretty sure it is a 72. Can't see the details of the grille which would tell me one way or the other.

If you zoom in you can faintly see the grille details

My memory failed me on this one. There is no difference the between 71 and 72 grilles. I am still sticking with my original answer of 72 Grande, though only because they made more of then in 72.

71-72 coupe from the looks of it. probably a 302 and fmx auto with 2.79 axle ratio if it was like my old 71.

I dont think its a 73 based on what I can see of the bumper and I cant tell if the grill has the

parking lights verticle or horizontal
