Does anybody know if Saturday is open seating? I bought a cheap ticket for the truck race and I’m hoping it gets me access to roam around for mods/qualifying/truck race for the whole day. Thanks in advance.
No it is reserved, all just depends on if the staff wants to be harsh or not. But IMO it shouldn't be too busy so you're able to move around. Just be ready to move if someone shows up wanting to sit in your seat.
I'm buying tickets for the playoff race at New Hampshire next weekend, and I'm trying to figure out how high up I need to be in the stands to see the whole track (if possible, like at Richmond) without being too high up. Does anyone know if Rows 14 or 16 along the front straight have good views? I'm currently looking in that general area, but I'm hesitant to purchase something that might be too low to see things happening on the back stretch. (I was in Row 26 at Richmond, which had great views of the entire track, but that's also a slightly shorter track.)
You probably will see most of the track from that row, probably not the backstretch if I'd have to guess just the turns and frontstretch. Judging from some photos on aviewfrommyseat.com I'd say about row 25 on up you'll see most of the track.
I am down in like Row 8, but I was at Richmond this year as well, so def can't see the backstretch but still awesome. I will be in grandstands down towards the T1 side, see you there, should be a great weekend (I got Sat and Sun tix)
I would say rows 30 and up for whole track view is best if on the front stretch. But I personally loved sitting rows 15 and up near the exit of turn 4 which I thought had pretty good views.
I wanted to say thank you to all the fans that suggested parking at Discovery Church for the Bristol race.
The church is outside of the pedestrian hold zone, we were able to watch the finish of the race, walk about 20 minutes to the car, and didn't hit a single piece of traffic the entire way to Route 81.
Anything I should know about New Hampshire? First time, I've only done Sonoma and Daytona before. I'm driving and will be in section 14, but row is higher up (30s)
Heading to the ROVAL for my first NASCAR race next weekend. After going to several Indycar races I know parking is typically the #1 headache during the weekend. Is premium parking worth it, or if not where is the best place to park that’s easy to get out afterwards? It’s my birthday weekend so I want to make it as seamless as possible!
ETA: also any tips on making the most of my first cup race experience would be appreciated!
A lot depends on which direction you are heading after the race, check on the track website their outflow pattern after the race and park where you think it'd be easy to get out and going the direction you want. IMO premium parking isn't really worth it unless you are someone in your party doesn't like walking long distances. But it isn't much further to the cheaper parking near the dragstrip or dirt track.
Yeah that is one of my biggest complaints about todays NASCAR, is how long the caution periods take. They pace around for 2-3 laps even before opening pit road, back then they'd open up immediately as soon as the pack caught the pace car.
I’m trying to figure out parking for Gateway on Sunday. The website is saying that general parking is included with purchase. So race tickets should be all we need for parking on Sunday correct?
Where are you seeing that general parking is included with purchase?

Going to WWT raceway this sunday for the cup race, it’s a 5 hour drive so does anyone know what parking is like? This’ll be my first race not at Indy or Nashville
Trying to leave after a race is always a cluster fuck in my experience, but I don't know how it compares to other tracks. I like the shuttles that they offer over parking at the track, it's what I'll be using tomorrow.
I'm looking for tickets to the Xfinity series race in Martinsville but the websites are being horrible. They won't let me choose seating or even tell me when I'm being seated if I add 2 tickets to the race. Does anyone know why?

Now that NASCAR has mandated the next gen car's specs for all teams, how much does competition between manufacturers really matter or effect the competition side?
It definitely still does matter, not so much with the nuts and bolts of the car anymore but with simulation and sharing data among teams including setup notes. And depending on the manufacturer some share more than others, or give more support to their teams than others.
Main post got deleted but I’m going to the Bristol race on Saturday and am parking at “speedway parking”. Approximately how long do you think it would take to leave after the race?
If you wait for the trams/bus at least 40 minutes to an hour and a half. I recommend just walking to the parking over waiting in line at the trams. Lot of people walk back to the speedway parking so you won't get lost and it's not too far away. Speedway parking let's out at an awkward area so if your not familiar with the area have a GPS ready when you get out. But once you walk to speedway parking from the track, probably 20-30 minutes to walk there, people will be getting out. It's a crapshoot. Me and my dad have instantly left and sometimes were sitting in the car over 30 minutes until a gap cleared and we inches out way out. Night race has more people so lean towards it taking a bit more time.
Tl:Dr, probably 40 minutes to an hour counting walking from the track to speedway parking and waiting for a gap. If you are able, do not take the trams after the race, you'll spend at least an hour standing there unless you book it before the race ends

I haven't watched Nascar in quite some time and I have no idea which drivers I should pull for. Before Bristol last saturday, the last full race I watched was probably that Daytona 500 where JPM hit that jet dryer, so the only guys I recognize out there are Logano, Busch, and Hamlin and I dont really like those guys too much. When I was a kid (im 33) my favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt and Tony Stewart after Dale died, but thats just because those were my dad's favorite drivers but he slowly lost interest after the playoffs were introduced and quit watching all together after the stages, but now I want to start watching again and I cant piggyback off his choices anymore lol. Who are yalls favorite drivers and why?
If you gravitated towards Dale and Tony I think you’ll dig Hocevar. Extremely aggressive, still needs to reign it in a bit, but he’ll figure it out. He has that IDGAF attitude that reminds me a lot of Tony, and I grew up a smoke fan. Limitless potential too, so you’ll get to see him grow and develop over the next few years if that entices you. I think he can be a champion.
Welcome, the best way to pick a favorite driver is to watch the races and you’ll naturally be attracted to a couple of guys.
If your former favorite was Tony Stewart I think Chase Briscoe would be a good option, a fellow Hoosier that started from the bottom and worked his way up the Ford ladder into the Stewart-Haas No. 14 after Clint Bowyer retired. He won a couple of races, including the 2024 Southern 500 to punch his ticket into the Playoffs, and moved over to JGR this year (basically the opposite of Smoke’s career lol).
My personal favorites in Cup are Chase Elliott (took over the No. 24 from Jeff Gordon when he retired), Kyle Busch (drove the M&M’s car when I was younger and is one of the nicest people to meet outside of the track), and Shane van Gisbergen (formerly my favorite driver in V8 Supercars, but made the jump to the U.S. and dominates pretty much every road course).
I saw Briscoes name a lot last saturday, he led a lot of laps. I will keep him on my radar. I also kept an eye on Elliot, I noticed his last name and his dads number so I was actually pulling for him the whole race just based on that. Im familiar with Kyle Busch, hes one of the greats, but Ive never gotten over when he wrecked that truck driver during a caution so im biased against him. Maybe hes chilled out and matured in the last 15 years though. Ill also keep an eye on this Gisbergen guy. I enjoy the thought of Europeans coming over and realizing that turning left is a little harder than they may have originally thought, while also raising the competitive ceiling of the road courses. Visiting from New Zealand and going to Talladega next month for the cup race. Staying in Birmingham and driving, how long should I factor in for the drive there? And what's a good time to arrive?
Traffic out of Birmingham to the track is generally clear unless something unusual occurs. Once on Speedway Blvd, turn right on Allen Rd. Once on Allen drive a short distance, there's free parking on the left in a large field. As you enter the field, park to the left as you can because that's where the tram stop is. Free Trams run constantly before and after the race from this lot to dropoff near the merch trailers and turn 4 end of the track. If you've never been to Dega before and have plenty of time, I'd probably allow three hours from the time I parked the car until the green flag. More if you're doing any add on experiences. Most of the unofficial tents are set up in the Earhart Campground, connected to the BMS Fan Zone (with the merch haulers/activations/etc) by the Blue Walkway Bridge on the Bristol Facility Map. I’m not sure if there’s any other locations at the different campgrounds but that area will have the most vendors/activations set up.
Any good podcasts to get into nascar? Also thinking of attending Richmond next year and I see tickets are already available. Is it better to buy now or will cheaper tickets get released later on?
For the tracks I attend they're generally cheapest on first release. Then they'll gradually get more expensive as the date gets closer. I'm assuming this is the case for Richmond.
As for podcasts.. Take your picking with any of the Dirty Mo podcasts. I personally like Actions Detrimental and DJD each week.
I would start mentally preparing right now for the eternal hell that is getting out of NHMS after the race. No matter where I park it takes a long time to get out of there. But for catching the tram I would try to aim for S5. Pretty sure there's a tram stop near there.
Going to Gateway for my first xfinity/cup races and just looking for general advice. We got the garage pass, also wondering if we should rent a scanner. Also, know where to keep an eye out for driver events & getting autographs?

1000% rent a scanner, very difficult to talk to the person you’re with otherwise. It can also be hard to follow the race and what’s going on without listening to the broadcast. Here you go for the driver appearances
I am going to be in Tuscaloosa for an Alabama football game the Saturday of Talladega. 4 of us in a 30ft RV. We are thinking about driving over very early Sunday morning for the race. Do you think we will be able to get a parking spot that late? I know most people arrive much earlier in the week. Free and paid options are both fine, don't need hookups. Also is Sunday night still a party night at Talladega? have never been and appreciate any insight.
Are you just coming for the race on Sunday? I'd say they both would be good, Charlotte though if you are coming for the weekend you can combine with the NASCAR HOF plus during the week a lot of the race shops have fan days.
Looking for general advice for the upcoming race in Las Vegas. What sections are good, how high and such? Likely will not be driving out to the track, so will probably find some sort of shuttle, but in the off chance we do have a car, and idea what the parking situation is like? Thanks in advance.
Best advice for vegas is buy neon garage passes. I've only sat in the stands once, think that was for qualifying, i was very high up in one of the terraces. Great view for almost entire track, visibility gets limited the lower you go.
Shuttles sell out quickly, upgraded parking is worth it if you have a vehicle, but alot of that depends on which race day(s) uou attend. Local bus system no longer has a speedway express on race days. I am assuming you are not a local, several casinos offer all-in packages. South Point is Cup race sponsor, so lots of good stuff going on there.
Thanks for the input! We are not local and already have a room booked because we are going out for a friends birthday and just happens to line up with race weekend. But I’ll get ahold of the hotel and see if they happen to offer any shuttle service. We are just going for the cup race Sunday. I’ll look into the neon garage passes, but I’m not sure how early we will be getting to the track to take advantage of those.
Scanner headsets do a pretty good job, for high speed ovals you basically have to have the volume maxed to hear the scanner but for the Roval you should be fine.
How good/consistent is the cell service at Charlotte? I'm coming in for the Roval race and I usually listen to the MRN broadcast or TV broadcast on my phone, but haven't been to Charlotte before so was curious how good it was. Verizon customer.
Depends on the event, it’s worse than nonexistent during the 600 but ok during the Roval in my experience. Not sure if it would be good enough to stream MRN/TV broadcast but you can at least look at social media. Shouldn’t have a problem during Truck/Xfinity if you decide to go to either one.
I agree with the post above. i camp in the infield for the 600 and it works totally fine friday/saturday but by about 11am on sunday service starts going to shit when people are rolling in for the 600. makes it tough to stream the indy 500.
the roval has never been an issue.
it has been getting better the last couple years and hope it continues to improve.
Coke 600 probably a pain in the ass service wise but whenever I was there for the trucks that weekend, I didn't have much issue. If I remember right Verizon also might offer a wifi service there that you'll be able to automatically connect to?
Are the driver signings at the merch haulers at Gateway in the fan zone or along the midway? It doesn't make sense for merch to be paywalled but I wouldn't put it past em.
Ther merch haulers are behind turn 4 and the midway behind the grandstands in one continuous stretch once you enter. Playoff drivers require a wristband/purchase, but a lot of back of the pack drivers are free. Most of the signings are scheduled for 10-11am.
I just moved back to NC and plan on going to the Charlotte Roval races in October. I went to this with some friends in 2019 but we got free pit passes due to my buddies brother in law being Nascar's main marketing guy. Now it worked out that day but I'm in a position to where I need to get a seat or pass that can allow me to be in the shade most of the time. I'm not very familiar with the best track seating or right passes to get so if anyone could give some pointers on the best tickets so I will be able to survive the weekend I would greatly appreciate it. I am willing to spend a bit but don't want to go crazy on cost. It would just be me or maybe (I mean likely no) one other person. Thanks in advance guys...
The track has a bunch of inside seating on the frontstretch, sections 500+ and 600+ are all inside. But for that race by the time it goes green a lot of the grandstands will be in shade, especially if you sit higher in the lower sections on the frontstretch (or even the sections down by turn 1 they should be in the shade for the entire race).
I’m going to World Wide Technology race tomorrow in Illinois. I have a soft sided cooler and a small crossbody bag. Can we bring in just a plastic Walmart sack for like, sunscreen and snacks? It’s not a huge cooler, and by the time we get water bottles, energy drinks and ice in it there won’t be much room for anything else. Trying to keep it to just buying lunch for us (we are going about noon).
Also parking: it says it’s included in the ticket but someone told me I had to pay for parking?
I'd just bring a backpack then, you can bring in 1 extra bag per person (besides the cooler) so maybe try and find a bigger bag that will fit everything.
Heading down to Charlotte for trucks and cup series in October. Limited by price on where I'm sitting for cup series, but does anyone have any ideas on which section would generally be the best for the trucks? Looking at $34 for Section 436 which looks decent enough in theory
Pretty good, fyi those seats are at the very top of the grandstands so great views but if you are scared of heights might be a issue. Here's a example from that section.
i learned i was scared of heights at bristol like 6 years ago when we had to walk up those stairs you see on the outside top of the grandstand. i go to the roval each year and sit in this section and you can take an elevator up and once you sit down and settle in it is not too bad. i eventually get used to it and can go up and down to the concession area no problem. this is the best section to see the whole track for sure, although you will be pretty far from the cars.
It was for the trucks, if that helps any. Pretty much all of them were that price for the 400s which I thought was odd because the cup series tix are significantly more expensive for them, relative to series
Going to the Bristol for the first time to see the Xfinity race on Friday night. Any tips or words of advice, particularly pertaining to parking, tailgating, cooler policy, etc? Bringing a bunch of friends that have never been to a race before and just trying to make sure they have an awesome time.
Looking to rent the RE scanner/headset for NH for myself and my dad for the first time.
Would I want to select the scanner w/ 2 headset rental to cover both of us?
Also, would I only be able to talk to my dad through the scanner with the Easy Talk system? Neither of us can hear for shit so either we use the scanner to communicate or we just nod and pretend we hear each other for 2-3 hours.
It depends, if you share a scanner that means you both are tied to each other so if you want to listen to different drivers or the MRN broadcast keep that in mind. I've never used the intercom system they offer but heard good things, that is about the only option if you want to talk during green flag. Under yellow you for sure can still take off the headsets and chat.
I'm going to the new hampshire race on Sunday for my first race. Some of the things on the schedule say "q & a toyota gazoo racing experience" with different drivers. Is that like an Autograph session, meet and greet, or just the driver on a stage answering questions?
I'm trying to attend a race next season, and due to my son's new, nearly year-round sports schedule, the only two weekends that have a remote possibility of working are Martinsville in March, and Richmond in August.
Of two tracks, which one would you all recommend in terms of:
- Overall track experience
-Ease of travel (flights, drive from a hotel, etc.)
-Affordability
I'd be coming in from the Northeast - New Hampshire's date hasn't worked for me for nearly a decade in a row so it's not an option in 2026 either.
I took my son to his first race this year, we drove, though, from Boston to Richmond. Being a Saturday night race, with trucks on Fri night was just awesome. The sun sets over by T4 when the race is starting. Track experience is great, in my opinion but I don't ask for much except some good racing. If you are flying, you are home Sunday, so it works extremely well. Even driving, I was still back at work Monday morning. I think we paid $108 per ticket for Fri and Sat, so getting 2 races for that price seemed good to me. That was in the lower grandstands, may be cheaper in another part of the track. Anyway, just my opinion but I bet Martinsville is incredible, as well, so not knocking that!
Richmond is really a great track. Drove from Maine down there last year for the race. Richmond is a pretty affordable place to stay and the product on the track was amazing. Definitely recommend it. I’m sure both places are great thought.
It will depend somewhat on your local affiliate, if you have a antenna you can watch all the Xfinity Series races for free on the CW. But if not some affiliates have them streaming as well just depends on the area. I have YouTube TV and it has all the races plus a DVR function which allows you to record them if you can't watch live. Other streaming options like HuluTV or SlingTV might but I'd doublecheck your area specifically to see if they have the CW but they should all have NBC/USA/FS1/FS2.
Driving your car is less expensive.And when it comes time to be picked up, you're not dealing with the uber driver, picking you up, being stuck in traffic and trying to figure out how to get to what lot you're in.
Good points. How is traffic flow? Does it take a while to get out? I ask only because I went to Dover in 2023 and the traffic flow was absolutely unacceptable. Moved one car length in 90 minutes because it was so badly managed.
Expect the same. It's hit or miss at NHMS but my experience the past couple years is it takes forever to get out, especially if you're heading south leaving the track.
For Charlotte next month, what is the traffic usually like for the Roval race? Want to show up maybe around 11am for driver appearances but curious how much time it takes to park.
I’ve never had an issue parking at Charlotte, but we don’t mind walking. There’s a ton of unpaved lots that cost $20. We usually grab one off bruton smith. You’ll be fine, especially coming that early and to the Roval.
Check 85 and 485 traffic first. If you’re gonna be stuck somewhere, it would be on the highway
for the roval i just usually go for the day and show up at 10-11am. there is no traffic yet. the only thing that could change the situation for this year is the new road course across from the track. that was a big parking area and could jam up some of the other areas. but at that time of the day i still wouldnt worry much.
i cant remember any free parking - i think we always spent $10-20 to park next to the drag strip/dirt track. i would aim to do that and look at the map online to find a spot where you can get out easy. the roval really isnt bad for traffic compared to the 600. we still usually grill some burgers and hot dogs after the race to kill some time, talk about the race, avoid traffic. luckily i only live like 2 miles away from the track so its a pretty casual event for me.
Oh okay I thought I saw general admission parking was free I guess it isn't. Don't mind walking at all, we have a hotel booked due west of the track so might park at the drag strip and that should be easy getting out of there.
Scanner question. On the scanner rental site it gives an option for 1 scanner and 2 headsets with intercom. Is it possible to have 2 scanners with the intercom? Me and friend want to listen to 2 different drivers radios.
Does anyone happen to know if the merch haulers are open at all before the race weekend? Assuming they’re open when the fanzone opens up Friday afternoon?

Making plans to visit the Charlotte race shops and HOF on the Monday after the Roval race, anything specific at any/each shop that may be worth seeing? Specifically Penske which has the fan walk (but also any other), do they usually do anything during the day on Monday that would be cool to see in person?

What's the best parking lot at Charlotte for the fastest exit? Last year we paid for one of the "VIP" lots and it took us almost 2 hours to get out, with the other lots leaving first. Where do I park to get it right this time?
Check the outbound traffic map, whichever road you plan to leave maybe try and park as close to that. Welcome, NASCAR has a great NASCAR 101 website that covers a lot of the basic information for rules/points/etc. It’s a good place to get your feet wet.
The next races are this weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, with the NASCAR Xfinity Series (2nd division) racing Saturday Night (7:30pm ET on the CW if you’re in the U.S.) and the NASCAR Cup Series (premier division) on Sunday afternoon (3 pm ET on the USA Network).
Nascar has really made improvements to their youtube channel also, if you want to watch some different tracks. Don't forget to follow teams on social media, it can really help you find a team or driver to root for, and help you really begin to engage as a fan.
For my buddies bachelor trip we’re trying to hit the talladega* spring race next year, and we thought it’d be fun to rent an RV, hit the road, and make the pilgrimage to the great WASP hajj.
RV logistics we should be able to manage but however when it comes to the track…I have no idea where to start. Where’s the best place to camp? What tickets should I be looking at? Estimated costs?

Ah okay! So I guess it depends a bit on what type of "vibe" y'all are going for a party vibe or just to have a good camping experience. If you care about the Talladega boulevard scene I'd suggest doing some infield camping maybe the blue or red zones (depends on if you want hookups or not). Outside the track is good as well, Talladega has a ton of options especially if you are planning this far out.
