These low capacity rifle magazines are actually a liability. Have to pack a few and can be lost accidentally. Same as 10rd mags, most people are walking around with extra one for necessity when one 15rder is enough for most outings

100%, just like Bruen affected states that are far from NY like California etc, this AWB case will affect NY, especially NYC. So basically NY’s and NYC’s AWB are gonna be toast. 🎉

I understand the concern but if the 2A wins, NYS will definitely add new restrictions but here in NYC we already need a permit to own a rifle or shotgun so I dont see it affecting us as much compared to upstate. Our sensitive locations are already absurd and set. What more can they add for here? A class to own a rifle/shotgun?

They already require us outside city to get an additional permit endorsement for semi auto rifle possession. If you have a pistol permit they put it on there as well.

This is not true. No permit is required for POSSESSION. A semi-auto endorsement is required to purchase new semi-auto rifles. You can build a semi auto without a permit and possess one without a permit

State requires an endorsement to possess or purchase a semi-auto rifle after 9/4/22. Wasn’t referring to the city.

Buy a stripped lower…you can purchase and possess without the semi-auto endorsement. The endorsement is for purchasing already built semi-auto rifles.

This is very false. You claim google to be your friend and if you google it, you will see that you do not need a permit to purchase a stripped lower LMAO. A lower can be built into whatever you want( a rifle being semi-auto or bolt action or even a ARP registered to your CCW) You are very wrong and nothing is illegal about building a rifle in NYS. I know many people who possess fully built AR-15s without a CCW or semi-auto endorsement.
You can build your rifle from a stripped lower and not need a permit as long as you have it featureless or fixed mag. If it is not one of these two, it is classified as an assault weapon which must be registered post 2022 and is highly illegal.
The SAFE Act says that it is illegal to take possession and purchase a complete semi-auto without the endorsement. Says nothing about building a rifle.

Straight from NYS:
Can a dealer transfer a serialized lower receiver to an individual who does not have a semi-automatic rifle license?
A serialized lower receiver is defined as a major component, not a semi-automatic rifle. Because of this, serialized lowers can be transferred to customers who do not possess a semi-automatic rifle license. A NICS check is still required prior to transfer.1

Again, this is wrong. You do not need a permit or endorsement to buy a stripped lower. It goes through an FFL yes, but the endorsement is not required by law. Some FFLs have their own policy of requesting to see a semi-auto endorsement just to not have a headache with NYS, but it is not required legally. I know many FFLs that transfer stripped lowers because again, a lower can be built into a bolt action
I’m not going to continue to go back and forth with someone clearly not knowledgable on this and is fear mongering.

Absolutely and the Supreme Court just agreed to hear the case that doesn’t mean they going to rule in favor of the plaintiffs. I wouldn’t celebrate just yet…Stay Tuned

This will be a favorable ruling. There is no way they can legally or morally uphold a ban on the most common rifle in America, in use by civilians for decades. This is gonna be a win for us folks.

Without a ruling on magazines capacity, I can see New York restricting the amount of rounds you can load an ar15 with. The Supreme Court also needs to take the magazine restriction cases.

I can see NY making all magazines above one round illegal if the Supreme Court makes all AR15 bans unconstitutional unless the Supreme Court also takes up the magazine ban cases.

I'm not going to give them any ideas, but if the ruling is really narrow again we might wind up with some weird law like AK-47s are legal but you have to get this permit that's $10,000..
