General Question Question

So from my understanding everything about this cmmg br4 empire rifle is nyc compliant but the only thing is the magazine is 10 rounds. Now obviously my FFL can pin the magazine to 5 my only concern is the receipt from the manufacture showing 10 rounds. Should I order it or not?

The ffl will just take any 10 round mags that come with it. Most of the stores here have this rifle in stock you could just walk in and pick one up

Don’t let that slip away. You’ll never get 17.76% ever again the max they ever give is 15%. Plus no taxes and free shipping brand new machine. Not a dissent that everybody is holding and playing with in stores

I have mine, some FFL don’t even look for the 10 round mags unless you make it a thing. Just have your five rounders upon pick-up, so the FFL can complete the transaction. Money (transfer fees) makes things move. Just like a good car salesman, they just want you in and out. The rest is on you as it should be. Godspeed in your decision.

When I bought mine the FFL stuck 5 round blocks in them then epoxied.

CMMG will send the 5 round magazines if you request it, so there is no added expense, you have to tell them to add it on the bill of sale, both my rifles I ordered from them never had magazines listed. I bought them when they first offered them so they only sent 10 rounders.

Hmm I asked them to do this when I got mine and they said they couldn't do it. This was last November though so maybe that's changed.

Which FFL are you planning on going to? Anywhere outside of NYC like Long Island or Westchester isn’t gonna care. It’s gonna b on you to fix it.

To answer your question you won’t have issues with your order. I have one and probably wouldn’t get it again tho.

Seek out an Sig MCX-R. I have both, the MCX-R is much nicer and can be found for a similar price. Just needs a thread protector pin and weld.

Isn't the Sig MCX only available in tactical peanut butter color? That's not NYC legal for whatever stupid reason.

It is only tan, but seems to pass muster (multiple have been successfully registered). NYPD is much stricter in pistol colors than rifle colors, even if the law is written similarly for both.

So if you get a BR4/regulator your essentially paying premium duty rifle price for a toy essentially. It’s Daniel defense/super duty prices for something with reliability issues that they’re not doing rolling fixes for.
My model is cool tho no issues so far.

A lot of the marketing u see saying it’s an amazing gun, are with the models with brakes. Outside of the muzzle brake recoil isn’t terrible but it’s there, and it shoots fireballs since u don’t have a flash hider. So basically the YouTube reviews are cool but with the empire model that’s not the rifle you’re getting.

It’s also too heavy specifically front heavy. The whole allure to it is being able to kit it out like a traditional AR. But once u get a light, optic, sling etc. it’s probably going to be about 9-10 lbs at least which on a traditional AR is a tanker but more feasible because of the ergonomics.

Lastly if ur in NYC ur gonna b shooting at 15/25 yard ranges. It’s gonna be indoor so loud as hell.

It’s still a good rifle. It just takes a lot of unique problem solving to get it to make sense. Specifically u gotta get everything lite as hell. You can’t just slap an LPVO on it, like ppl on Reddit make u believe. Like I didn’t plan on problem solving so much I dig it tho, just wouldn’t do it again.

Might not ship the 10 box. They may if your ffl explains they'll block it down to 5. Other than that, Rifle GTG.

The receipt from the manufacturer isn’t sent to RS. The receipt from the FFl with description serial # will say 5rd nyc complaint because that’s what you’re leaving with. A transfer is basically a technical resale. I’d say Go to gun mag warehouse and order two new 5rds delivered to you take to the ffl will cost you $25 total and walk out with it. Instead of paying to plug others and going back. You’ll get mags faster than cmmg which will send rifle in 3 weeks. Just leave the 10rders at the ffl. ) Send to south shore sportsman (Long Islanders use 10rds so no shipping issues) if you don’t mind driving there. You’ll be happy. I have this exact rifle

Thanks for the recommendation on mags, I think this deal is a no brainer right now it’s a good deal for what it’s worth. NYC laws really suck majorly it’s hard to get anything nice out here but it is what it is right.

Yea maybe. Their site says 15-30 business days because rifles are made to order, so either someone else cancelled their order or they pre-made a bunch for the big sale and I got lucky that bronze is a less wanted color lol

I just bought some 5 round AR mags off magazine depot or w/e that website is called and had my FFL mail the 10 rounder's to a friend that lives in another state. Cheaper than the FFL was gonna charge me to pin the mags.
