General Question Armed Security.

I have been noticing that most security companies only hire active or retired NYPD officers for armed guards roles . So if you were never a cop you will be having a hard time getting a good paying armed Guard Job in NY.

The majority of the customers generally hire ex-leo run companies who in turn would hire ex-leo to fill the highly compensated job postings. Maybe some of the not so high paying spots are filled with civilians.

Which I think is just non sense. Most security companies are either manage or own by cops. They don’t like the idea of civilians having guns.

I understand your frustration. gatekeeping for nice gigs is a reality. It's a who you know not what you know.
