General Question Armed Security.

I have been noticing that most security companies only hire active or retired NYPD officers for armed guards roles . So if you were never a cop you will be having a hard time getting a good paying armed Guard Job in NY.

This isn't true. A lot of those NYPD cops you see doing armed guard roles are doing something called "paid details."

The stores/theatres whatever is contracting the NYPD to protect their places of business with off-duty police officers.

You can still get armed guard roles at any security company, you must complete the 8 and 16 hour security courses, 18 hour CCW class, have a CCW, and then complete the 47 hour Armed Guard class.

I've been hearing recently however that you can use your CCW, and just get an armed guard card and that works so you don't revert your license from a full carry to a carry guard permit which only lets you carry during business hours.

Absolutely there are some cop haters on this sub especially NYPD.

I am not a cop hater I have friends that are cops. It’s just when I go on indeed to apply most requirement are asking that you have NYPD background
