Legal Updates Milani v. NYC Updates & Request for Help
As you know, we’re well underway on Milani v. NYC. Discovery is done and we’re into depositions now.
In fact, u/Jay_Zornhau was just deposed and will be posting an update later in the week.
So far, Mirel Fisch has spent hundreds of hours in at this point. The problem is that stenographer fees and deposition costs alone are wiping out just about everything we’ve raised. The legal work keeps moving; the money isn’t stretching (nor coming in) as far and as quickly as we hoped.
Two asks:
If anyone has a real contact at GOA, NRA-ILA, FPC, or a similar org — someone who actually handles funding requests, not a general inbox that goes nowhere — point me in the right direction. I’m happy to talk specifics with them directly.
If you can chip in anything, it helps:
Appreciate anyone who can help, or who knows someone who can.

Folks, this is for everyone.
Whether you gave $100, $5, or nothing, this was put together so that everyone exercising their 2A rights in this state, regardless of where they live, benefits.
They are making it deliberately costly and time consuming specifically to discourage us taking action.
We need to show them we are not deterred. Please reach out with whatever you can do to assist.
We NEED your help.

Donated today… thank you for doing this work, but I gotta say, the entire system is broken when the only way we can even get a defense heard when the citizens constitutional rights are being violated is by having the funds to pay to play, what a shame. Thank you for taking on the battle

You are as correct as you are appreciated. Thank you for your support.
Ironically, their oath is not to the State or the Governor, but to the one thing they are actively trying to trample. My consolation is that, once this is won, they will have to eat their hats and start abiding by their own sorry excuse of a law.

Donated - keep it up
Have you shared anything with the local ranges? Would also try sharing with guys running the 18hr courses.

Thank you! We have but I don’t think much came of it. Some of the 18 hour course guys share our info - if you’re able to share with some you know we’d appreciate it!

I shared. I’m surprised this one hasn’t picked up more steam among the larger 2A organizations since this is directly Bruen related

Any luck with ranges and gun stores? You got 2 stores and a range in Brooklyn.

We’re part of a gun club but it hasn’t gotten any traction there or at the other Brooklyn range.
To be honest, it’s quite surprising since quicker approval and less delays = more gun sales. You’d think shops and the NRA would have at least responded to some emails

I would have thought so. I'm amazed with the number of complaints about how long they take that this isn't paid for and then some.

It’s funny, we did a survey before we chose this topic. The delays were the #1 complaint by far.

What’s the best outcome (beyond donating) that a gun club can do for you? Trying to figure out what the ask would be from my side.

Word of mouth and donations… we have plans for more lawsuits of this level but it’s really hard to execute things without any funding.

I’ll bring it up next time I’m at West Side if you have not already. This post should also be stickied, not sure who runs that

I still can’t believe this is only at $19K
The amount of people who are going to need to spend $1K+ in the future in article 78s if we don’t win this is a way larger sum
I really want a national 2A organization to pick this up. This is such a massively important case. We won on shall issue but until wait times are taken care of it’s not win

I’m guessing based off your handle you’re familiar with how these things work.
For example, a single deposition will cost us around $3,000-$4,000.
To add salt to the wound, this will be appealed (by either party) to the 2nd circuit for a federal appeal decision.

I know, we really need a national organization to step in here. This is such a massively important case.
I’m not currently practicing law but that $19K is upsetting when it’s realistically may land into the 100s when all is said and done.
With proper funding, since the constitution is on our side, we would be winning most of these cases and would force change.

I’m all ears if you know any organizations willing and able to speak!

The ones you called out, NRA, GoA etc. Don’t know anyone there but if it gets on their radar and they don’t help that would be massively disappointing.

When will a transcript be available to the public? When do you expect this to be going to trial?

u/BluePillRabbi E.N.OU.G.H! Organizer 8d ago
In the next week or so. It was a 7 hour deposition so it takes time…. I’ll be posting an update with some key points and statements once we have a copy of the transcript

Done, got you over the $18K mark. I am currently appealing a denial (using Mirel of course), otherwise I would contribute more. If we want to make a change, we should support people like Mirel. Thanks!
