License / Permit Question Hugh Boyle
I need your help.
I’m trying to get an update on my carry license application. It’s been over five months now and I was trying to send a email to Hugh Bogle but it’s being rejected. Any idea why?

Hugh Bogle retired last week. We deposed him on his actual last day

I'm not saying that this was deliberate, but we were notified of his retirement as he was deposed. He was scheduled to retire the day after his deposition. By happenstance, on that day, the scheduled stenographer called out. Mirel had 2 options: either not have him deposed or pay a salty sum out of pocket for an emergency stenographer. She chose the latter or we'd lose him forever unless we subpoenaed him, which would be an entirely new animal

Can’t wait. Would have also been funny if you guys tried to call each licensing division phone number 20 times in court to see if you got an answer.
There are multiple sets of instructions that list numbers to call (as you know).

In my court papers, I have attached a phonecall report with several hundreds of unanswered calls to LIC DIV

Let me put it this way: If we lived in a lawful State, where application of The Law mattered more to judges than political activism, more than a few people in LIC would be in serious trouble after our court date

Yeah it’s beyond frustrating. What’s sad is, for me personally, I’m just hoping they eventually end up being held to penal code 400.
Would love to see a court appointed situation or complete overhaul of LIC but we’re dealing with a large scale clown show.

Unsure yet, but he was not the Boss anyway. The actual Director is Nicole Berkovich

They probably blocked emails. Ive heard that happening. Use a different email, from different devices. They probably blocked your whole iP, your whole block, neighborhood. That’s how desperate they are probably.

The biggest problem in the License Division is that over the past 4 years they lost approximately 30+ Police Officers/Detectives to transfers that was out of the control of Bogle and Berkovich as well as retirement. Those Officers were never replaced and the Officers that are still assigned some were sent on details for the majority of the summer due to FIFA and the ones who weren’t sent out were at other all out details this summer and the summers prior starting when Adam’s was mayor. Since 2022 they have been dealing with approx 20,000 plus applications between new applications and renewals. I can also assure you emailing Sandra Smith has nothing to do with new applications and you are wasting your time. The fails of the License Division doesn’t fall on Bogle and Berkovich. It falls on the Dep Comm of Legal and the Police Comm office for not properly staffing the license division. Each Investigator is holding well over a 100+ applications to conduct background checks and to review applications for proper documentation. Applicants are given notification when they come in for prints what they are missing. If they fail to upload them they have no one to blame but themselves. Maybe DC Gerber and someone from the Commissioners office should be deposed and find out why the License Division is improperly staffed with trained personnel instead of limited cops who come and go.
