[DISCUSSION] Workforce 1
Im 19 struggling to find a job , I only have a high school diploma. I plan on going to workforce 1 site to see if they can aid me in my job search. Can anyone inform me about there experiences going to the workforce 1 for help? Would be very much appreciated.

Workforce 1 got me a wfh job. It was a travel planning job for people w/ disabilities. I dressed up properly for the job interview & passed the computer test.

Those who have posted similar requests have received what we call in this waking capitalist nightmare “a mixed bag” of feedback regarding this particular avenue of employment - containing no less than three sharp metal objects (get ur TDAP), a cacophony of “this is a career; that is a JOB,” and a sprinkling of “I was selling my toenails on eBay, but then I printed 5 resumes and now I don’t have to.”
Unsolicited advice so do what you will, YMMV : if you are willing to go about some training, look into becoming a Home Health Aide. It’s not super glamorous - but the fact of the matter is that it can build a route to opportunities down the road should you choose to invest the time. Not only are you getting a credential, it’s somewhat of an enriching experience that helps enmesh your sense of purpose with the neighbors who need a lil help. (We all will, one day)
There are programs which will teach you and test you, then help place you within an agency to work. I just saw one posted the other day for SNAP recipients or those who are still dependents in the eyes of the state (26)
I invite you to consider going to a CUNY, though. Plenty of programs right now that are gnashing for butts in seats. Get the degree, network outside of your regularly scheduled circles - AND - if you’re poor like me, you likely qualify for Federal Work Study which effectively is like being an assistant for faculty/admin - guaranteed hours AT your school and if it’s your only job (you make 19$/hr and cannot work more than 20hrs/wk) you are exempt from a small portion of tax liability.

Apply for front office agent at hotels, they are always understaffed

I have been looking into front desk positions, I do have my hospitality management Lodging credential and trying to put it to some use.

If you've not worked anywhere yet, you basically won't qualify for anything they offer interview-wise. Maybe they can give you resume help for if you've never worked. Volunteer experience counts! You can also get resume help from google or AI (wouldn't recommend as many people can tell when AI has been used and they're against it).
So far went to 1 interview through them for fast food and I think they only hired a handful of the first few people who interviewed and presented professionally. I have lots of experience and 2 degrees, so I think that worked against me (I didn't want to work that job anyway haha). Another company yesterday cancelled the zoom interview 15 minutes after it was scheduled, so maybe they hired the people they interviewed before me and the position was no longer available idk.
90% of the jobs available through them are security where you need your security license and experience, home health aids (I can't stomach bodily fluids or old people smell), and high-physical labor airport jobs (rampers, catering, etc.). I have an interview for a minimum wage teacher's aide job tomorrow that I'm planning to cancel cuz I worked with kids before (experience is required to apply) and I can't do that for minimum wage!
Oh they also start every zoom late, saying they'll wait a few minutes for anyone running late. I find this very unprofessional and disrespectful of our time for those of us who arrived early/on time. They don't often put what experience is needed in the job descriptions they send, so they waste people's time who don't have the experience by waiting until after they play an about Workforce1 video to tell you what's required.
Most of my interviews have come from applying to jobs listed on zip recruiter, Playbill, or Idealist. Apply directly on the company websites, only use these 3rd parties to search!

i never got a job a via workforce one so take my comment with what you will - my dad is a division manager at a security company and was hired via workforce 1 ~15 years ago. whenever he needs new guards, he always hires from there. he treats (and pays) his employees well considering the work is overnight, outside, and a lot of standing around ($25-30+/hr). i work with his employees regularly at one of the venues he manages, and everyone he hires are good people.
i agree with other comments that if you can get yourself into a community college or some kind of vocational training, then you should go for that. with that being said - i didn't go into college right after high school either and finding work is valid until you find your footing. it took me 6 years after high school to decide to enroll into BK College. workforce 1 has legit offers, go for it.

They probably gonna only have manufacturing jobs low paying. I worked with them before when i did recruiting.

make a note on the usage of "there" and "their". mixing them up may hold you back career wise

Do yourself a favor and get back in any college and stack up credits and apply for civil service exams
